Each lesson is tailored to fit each individual student. We will use the guitar method that best fits your goals, supplementing that learning with songs in the genre(s) of music you enjoy most so learning the instrument will be fun.

Lessons can be via Take Lessons or Zoom. Lessons are often customized the students' interests.

Steven studied Classical Guitar, Lute, and Electronic Music at Humboldt State University, College of the Redwoods, and The Evergreen State College, where he obtained his degree in Music in 1984.

Experienced guitar teacher of 23 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical guitar skills. I specialize in finger picking for classical, pop, rock, ETC...Typically use Hal Leonard books, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: sound recording equipment, Guitar Amps, effect pedals, sheet music, and more.

My passions are technique and accuracy; by perfecting technique comes a deeper understanding of theory. I have lots of teaching methods that will encourage you to play your favorite songs and styles with the sounds you like.
I'll focus on the very basics of guitar theory in order to get to a higher level of understanding music theory.
I will challenge you! We will have lots of fun and you will see, hear, and feel your own improvements with my teachings.

I teach the very basics in playing the classical guitar such as how to hold the guitar, correct finger placement, picking and strumming techniques, learning notes on the guitar, reading tablature, guitar scales, music theory, and learning to play simple classical songs. I have been playing the guitar since I was 10 years old and have had a great deal of experience playing all genres of music including Classical music.

As a guitar teacher for 12 years, my lessons of a dynamic method which align with the individual goals of the student. Whether just starting out on the guitar, or looking to get over a plateau, we create a path that guides you to becoming a better player.
