We have had 4 or 5 lessons now with Michael and with each one, my 9 year old son learns so much. I'm amazed at the pace at which he is moving; Michael had him playing a song after his first lesson. We sometimes do lessons at Michael's location and other times on Skype. My son really likes Michael and he wants to work hard and keep learning. I highly recommend guitar with Michael.

Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats. I can transcribe any song or solo for you, and can arrange the music to fit your particular level of skill.

Private Classical Guitar Teacher
About Maria

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of my studio is to create well-rounded, educated musicians who will always have a lifelong passion for the art no matter their long-term goals. I strive for my students to be:

(1) Lifelong learners who develop successful learning habits.
(2) Creative and critical thinkers who will become effective communicators.
(3) Responsible and respectful members of society who respect other cultures.
(4) Able to set short-term and long-term goals and be able to see them through to their success.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

It is of the utmost importance that my students are well-educated in their chosen instrument; they must know and understand music and music-making. Students who can play are a dime a dozen, but students who understand the music they are playing are often hard to find. I teach students to kno

w music thoroughly, not just to “play.” I desire my students to comprehend elements of the score, to use their bodies effectively to make good sound, and to interpret music creatively and according to historical performance practices across all genres of music. Thus, I give students a purposeful education in technique, quality literature, performance and artistry, music theory, and music history.

Although students differ in ability and development, I maintain high expectations for our students. I expect attention and respect in lessons, faithful and diligent practice, careful adherence to instructions, and an “I’ll-do-my-best” attitude. If students regularly meet these expectations, then they will excel to the level that they are able. It is my joy to help students master their music, to do the best they can, and to strive for and achieve excellence.

Lastly, I want students to enjoy and appreciate their instrument, music, and music-making; and I know as as a teacher, I am very influential in making this happen. Students develop enjoyment of music by understanding music, experiencing success in music, being exposed to good and varied genres of music, and receiving instruction from a teacher who is enthusiastic and encouraging. It is my goal to provide all of these opportunities for students, and as a result their lives will be enriched as they enjoy their instrument.

My daughter takes guitar from Maria and I didn’t realize how much she’s progressed until we went to a friend’s recital. 8 months with Maria and my child is leaps and bounds ahead of kids who’ve been taking for 2-3 years. It’s really motivating for her to see. Maria has standards which are non-negotiable but she’s patient and truly guides the kids to success. I’m so happy with our choice as her as a teacher.

Maria has been wonderful with our son. Very motivating and goal based. The recitals blow me away year after year. The progress these kids make with her plus the longevity of her students says a lot.

I like to make learning an instrument fun and easy to fit into your schedule!

If you're an adult finally getting around to learning your dream instrument or a child following your passion of playing music I tailor your lessons specifically to you. We look at what you want to play, pick specific songs that you want to learn, and learn the techniques you need to play these songs. It sounds simple, but it's so effective and much more fun to learn this way!

About Grant

Hi!

I'm Grant!

And it would be my pleasure to be your music instructor.

I teach all of the fretted string instruments:
Guitar | Banjo | Mandolin | Bass | Ukulele

I structure my lesson plans specifically around what you want to learn and how you want to learn it. We will go as slow or fast through the material as you'd like, focusing on playing songs and the techniques needed to get there.

If you have any questions for me, hit the "Ask Grant A Question" button above.

Cheers!

Private Classical Guitar Teacher

I have two goals for my classical students
1. To play more beautifully
2. To have fun! That's what music is all about!
This course will teach beginners basic sitting position/technique, skills such as arpeggios/scales/chords, and basic sheet music knowledge.
As you progress we will be talking about different eras of classical music from the renaissance to modern styles.
My goal as your teacher is to have you playing from day 1! Lets learn to make music together!

About Zachary

Hello there! I am currently a junior in college studying nursing, but also pursuing classical and Flamenco guitar during my spare time. Please do not be discouraged by me being only 20 years old; I may be young, but I am experienced. I went to a well known performing arts high school in Florida where I helped start their classical guitar program. I was the first guitar major to graduate from the school, and the first to specialize in flamenco guitar. My job after starting the program was to assist my teacher with her new students, which was a class of over 40 high school students (all of them trying different genres of music). I still teach a couple of those students, and some of them have gone on to receive recognition and awards in music.

You do not need to be a virtuoso to play these styles of music! My goal is to have you playing

from day 1! We will also focus on material you want to learn, while combining material any guitarist needs to learn. First lessons involve basic chords which will guarantee your early success on the guitar! Other topics include how to hold the guitar, strumming, finger picking basics, and how to produce specific sounds. If you are experienced with guitar, allow me to help with any musicality or performance issues you may have.

As a teacher I like to make phrasing of music one of my main focuses. I want you to really tell a story with all of the music you are making, even if it is just an exercise!

I hope to make your musical journey an enjoyable one that will last you a lifetime! I'm looking forward to working with you! Please let me know if you have any questions at all, whether its more about me, what other things go into my lessons, or if you want to know more about what the guitar can offer you!

"Music should reflect the poetry and emotions of life"
-Juan Martin (flamenco guitarist)

“The beauty of the guitar lies in its soft and persuasive voice and its beauty cannot be equaled by any other instrument.”
-Andres Segovia (classical guitarist)

Private Classical Guitar Teacher

Hello, My name is Ryan. I am a Seattle native and artist. I began playing music here in the early 90s... My core instrument and the root of my knowledge is the guitar. I have been playing off and on for almost 30 years now. And by off and on I mean, we get busy in life and sometimes there's just not enough time for practice. However, I have been able to find happiness in just the smallest amount of time with my instrument and I hope you'll find a fraction of that happiness for yourself and if you do, believe me, you'll never regret making the effort. So I'll explain quickly my philosophy, It starts with making time. We all know that practice makes perfect and patience is the key to making your own particular artistic vision come to life. It is hard work but, with a little bit of time and effort, you can become the kind of player that you expect you can be. I approach teaching music from this perspective...I Endeavor to emulate those I enjoy listening to. This is my
philosophy. if

"I was self taught for @ 5 months then decided to get lessons. I wanted a pro to be able to assess where I was at and give me the right instruction.

T
omas was able to to give me just that. He also taught me some neat strum patterns that made it fun. My wife really likes the sounds I can make with the guitar after only 2 lessons with Tomas.

On top of that he is a genuinely pleasant person to be around. I can tell he loves teaching people guitar.

My wife really likes the genre of music I am learning because she grew up with it. I like it as well as the finger skills that go along with it.

I believe this experience learning from Tomas will greatly influence the personal music style that I end up developing into."

"I started playing the classical guitar for just fun years ago, and lived in such remote areas that finding a teacher was impossible. As fortune had it, I
moved to Tempe and hooked up with Jaxon through TakeLessons.com. He's a great instructor that is patient and won't ever make you feel bad about not having time to practice. He didn't immediately show off his amazing guitar playing ability, but instead directed all his attention at me, the student. His flexible teaching style helped me translate the music knowledge I already had onto the classical guitar. If you follow his methods, you'll be amazed at how fast you improve! I would highly recommend Jaxon to anyone even remotely thinking about playing classical guitar music."

"Remi was wonderful for my 9 year old son's 1st lesson. The online class is very convenient for our schedule. Although it presents a slight challenge in
communication, Remi was able to easily overcome this challenge by writing on a small marker board and holding those notes up to the camera for us to see. He was very patient, and we surprisingly covered a lot of information in a short period of time. I was very impressed with Remi's ability to catch my son's technical errors while attempting to play the designated exercises that he had prepared for him. My son absorbed the introductory lesson like a sponge and can't wait until the next lesson. I am very pleased with Remi and hope to see my son improve over the next several weeks."

How to Expand Your Musical Palette (and Why You Should!)
