My students will quickly learn the basics of drumming, including: stick control, technique, rhythms, drum fills, and licks. It does not matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced drummer. The same time and effort will be exercised. We will have a fun and meaningful time playing, both by ear and by reading music. These lessons will really be hands on using teaching methods such as music books, DVD’s, and playing of my own. Students will have a great time also studying music theory, learning how to assemble the drum set, learning the parts of the drums, how to tune the drums, and how to accompany other musical instruments. After 3 to 6 months taking lessons, all students will be well on their way to a very successful musical career having had such fun and learning to play all different styles of music. As a teacher he was pretty good for what my son needed. I can see why he has repeat students. The reason he is getting a one star review is because as a business man he is not honorable. Take lessons, the company he contracts through, made a billing mistake that caused our rate to go up. He did not honor the original price per lesson, and when asked about why he made that decision he lied. He said that it was Takelessons that made that decision. That is not true, it is up to the discretion of the teacher when it comes to billing matters. So if your looking for a good drum instructor, this is your guy. But if you want someone who is a good instructor and honorable you might want to look elsewhere.

I cannot say enough about Murray...from the time of arrival... his personal approach sets the tone to be at ease and confident... I read previously of students who stated of learning on first lesson... I am a testament of the same experience on my first lesson...Murray's teaching style is professional...exact...intricate... he put that little piece/note/etc that you just get it!! I cannot wait for my next lesson!! Please note; I am a real student ..this is not a paid advertisement...

Very good with young children

My son is 4 years old and has only had two sessions with Eli however, he does a very good job of communicating with him on his level and keeping his focus. He also has given him practice exercises which seem to do the trick.

I have been playing drums for 18 years, and have been teaching 11 years.

I have tons of energy during lessons that mixes well for the younger students.
For older students I have the chops to catch their attention.

My curriculum ranges on the needs of the student. I have everything from developing better grooves, more independence, chops, or simply learning how to play different styles.
My goal during my lessons is dependent on the student. Not only do I want to help achieve personal goals, but I too want to help give the gift of being able to develop personal style. I feel that as a teacher, when my student is capable of achieving their playing desire on their own, I have enabled them to be a life long self sufficient musician.

My teaching style is very informative and demonstrative. I love being able to view the problems the student is facing and create a lesson to help overcome those obstacles.

About Jeremiah
As a Musicians Institute graduate, I've learned from exceptional drummers in the Los Angeles music industry. I gained and learned many tricks of the trade and can offer the same quality education to anyone. As a student myself, I realized that having great sound, solid timing and groove are just as essential as having cool beats to play. There are more technicalities to drumming than being able to play fast or having the best chops.
Aside from learning how to play drums, knowing how to think about music, how to listen to music, and how to study music will give a great foundation to any student of any style.

I first like to determine the students ability and understanding by working on a few coordination exercises and reading exercises.
From a good foundation, I build a curriculum, and deter any obstacles by constantly changing my
approach to further and benefit the student playing.

About Rachel
I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm.

I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
ns, and Pony Up.

When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.

My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.

Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.

Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.

Guitar:
Finger Picking, Song Writing, Rhythm, Lead, Scales,Modes & Ear Training.

Songwriting and composition: Learn techniques, how to brain storm and plot your musical story line. This class pairs great with vocal lessons or guitar lessons.

Do you want to be a Rockstar Drummer?! Then let's begin! Lessons will be uniquely structured to each students desired goals. I was drum captain for a national acclaimed marching band based in The Woodlands, Tx during high school before becoming a touring & recording artist. After performing at Batfest in Austin, Vans Warped Tour in Houston, and many shows all over Tx, I have turned to teaching students how to achieve their dreams as well. We will dive into different genres while exploring music theory and improvisation. No matter the skill level, beginner to expert level students are all encouraged and accepted to broaden their musical foundation. Are you the next Neil Pert, Chad Smith, or Travis Barker? I can help you get there!

About Kristian
Want to be a Rockstar Drummer? Every lesson will be uniquely structured to each students skill level and desired goals. We will cover grips, technique, song structures, rudiments, and learn to play some of your favorite rock, EDM, metal, ska, blues, and jazz songs.
During high school, drum line was my life. I played bass, snare, marimba, and tenors for a nationally acclaimed marching band. As drum captain, I encouraged my classmates to give 110% and after many competitions, we won the Bands of America Grand Nationals in Indianapolis.
After HS, I went on to become a touring & recording artist playing at festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Batfest, Uproar, and Mayhem. I have had the honor to perform with artists like Blue October, Escape the Fate, DJ Master Mike (Beastie Boys), and so many other amazing performers. I want to help others
achieve their dreams now.
No matter what your goals are in music, it's best to learn from those who have walked the walk. So let's Rock N' Roll!
