I gig, teach, and tour, full time as a drummer living in NYC. I've played drums for over 13 years and studied with numerous teachers across the country.

I perform rock, gospel, funk, jazz, country, and pop music for audiences all over and can help students identify specific, tailored, course work to help them in whatever genre.

My goal is to help students of all ages and abilities sift through the ocean of content to find the *right* challenges for them so they can play what they want to play.

This if my life, this is what I love. I look forward to working with you!

I was a bit nervous about taking lessons as I had not played drums in front of anyone before. My first lesson was surprisingly a very comfortable expereience and something that I would definitely recommend if you are on the fence. I have been playing for about a year and felt like I wasn't progressing with YouTube tutorials anymore. Max has really been helping to take me to a new skill level!

With private teaching experience and a degree in Jazz Composition & Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, Granville adopts the teaching methods of the accomplished performers and educators who instructed him, such as the late Joe Morello(Dave Brubeck), Terri Lyne Carrington (Grammy Award winning artist), Dave DiCenso(Hiromi, Josh Groban) among others.

Granville's curriculum centers on the building blocks; great technique to empower flexibility in his students. He uses methods perfected by Alan Dawson (The Rudimental Ritual), Gary Chaffee (Odd Time Stickings), Sanford A. Moeller (The Moeller Technique), and other great teachers while employing methods he has found successful through his years of teaching. When necessary, music theory elements are employed to teach song form, dynamics and overall musicianship.

I have 12 years of experience playing the drums. I lead my own band, Patos, for which I compose and arrange music for. I also perform as a freelance drummer (I love to support a fellow musician's vision). I've deeply studied jazz, funk and rock during my time at school.

When it comes to teaching, I strongly listen to the student's needs. I strive to understand what inspires them to move forward in their musical journey. The material covered will depend on what their goal is. At the same time, it important to me that the student feels comfortably challenged with the material chosen. Whether it is learning your favorite songs, improving your tone, expanding your groove pocket, learning technique or sight-reading and notation... I am here for you and excited to move forward.

About David

I am a recent graduate of The New School for Jazz in New York City. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz and Contemporary Music. I am primarily a drummer and bandleader. I compose on guitar. I have taught theory, ear training, rhythm notation, sight-reading and private drum lessons. I stri

Hey there!

My name is Tom Criblez and I am a Brooklyn based musician. I am mainly a drummer, but also a guitarist. The way I typically structure my lessons is based on what the student is looking to learn and accomplish. However, I also have certain methods of teaching that include how to properly, physically drum and perform in order to avoid injury later in life, lots of chop building that is usually taught and practiced on a drum pad, some reading if the student is open to it because I believe it is a good way to latch on to rhythmic concepts, building a close relationship with a metronome, exploring the foundations and basics of grooves in whatever genres the student is looking to tackle and always leave room for something fun like learning a song or writing a part. I am also open to talking about what it means to be a drummer in different environments like bands or being independent or recording and the fundamentals in how to approach like getting good sounds or how to prepare ...

About Tom

Hey! It's always funny to write about yourself, but here we are! I am a drummer/guitarist living in Brooklyn, NY. I have toured the country twice with my band Ritual Talk on 6 week tours that we booked ourselves. I love to connect and make music with people from anywhere and of all types of genres.

We're fortunate as drummers and percussionists to play the most fun instrument on the planet. My studio focuses largely on that---really ENJOYING playing music. And the best way to enjoy it? By getting GOOD!!

So what do I mean by "drums & percussion?" I'm classically trained at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music which is THE powerhouse music school for producing well rounded percussionists. We're talking everything from drumset, orchestral percussion, marimba, marching percussion, Latin percussion, composition, and everything in between. YOU get to pick what we work on, and if you're not sure, we can do a little bit of everything to find what clicks with you.

Ok, now the really cool part. Included in each month of lessons, you will get an epic video for your social media. Yes these videos can help you show off to your friends and family, but it's also the absolute best way to improve as a musician because you can practice using your ears as you listen back and analyze ...

"Richard taught my son drum lessons while Jake was in college a few years ago in Atlanta, Ga. He gave him a great foundation to build from, teaching him rudiments on the snare and applied it to the drum kit. My son really enjoyed learning from him, he says its because Richard challenged him but always made it fun! Jake continues to play today with a band he formed!
Richard is a true professional, has pro chops and is very personable. He's a great drummer and just a great guy! Highly recommended!!

"Best drum teacher in Orange County

I've been talking lessons with Mike for about 5 years. He is both a great teacher and person. He combines a high level of skill and teaching ability with unmatched enthusiasm. His lessons are a combination of practice on the pad and on the kit, culminating in learning to play songs. Learning a new instrument is not easy, but this approach works and is very rewarding( as well as fun). Mike is also very friendly, fun, and energetic. To summarize, you WILL NOT regret choosing Mike. He is great teacher, and is someone who you or your child can become friends with. I will never regret having Mike as my drum teacher."

"As a piano teacher, I am amazed at the progress my 16 y.o. son has made in one year of lessons with Mike. Mike definitely has a talent for reaching his students in fun and creative ways, and does a great job at teaching to each student as an individual. I've seen him interact with other students, and you can just tell he loves what he does and sincerely cares about his students. My husband has also sat in on a lesson and saw how Mike has a gift as a drummer as well as a teacher. We look forward to the next level he will take our son as a drummer and musician.

I highly recommend him as a teacher to any age student. His curriculum is solid and he keeps it fun and engaging. You won't be disappointed!"

"We moved to Atlanta this summer, looking out for a new drum teacher for our 10 year old son David. And there he is: absolutely smart, stunningly relaxed, ever so patient and polite and - most of all - so funny and inspiring while teaching my child! Just within these three months passed David has made such remarkable progress, playing many new rhythms and patterns, doing drum solos for minutes and improving his whole attitude. If you want a positive chemistry for your child's musical development I can fully recommend Casey as an instructor."
