Erasmo is very patient with my 9 year old who had stopped his drums lessons for about a year and his technique of teaching is different from the previous teacher as in he's touching up on more basic techniques and working on fundamentals in addition to just practicing some songs every class. I think in the long run my son will benefit from that.

In my teaching, I strive to give students exactly the information they need when they need it. When you take lessons with me, the lesson will not be bound by any one method or concept; I will use a specific combination of ideas and concepts to cater directly to what your playing needs now! Having played drums for the majority of my life, I have a seasoned insight on how to develop playing abilities on the drums as I've brought myself and my playing through the same process! :)

About Colin

Hi! My name is Colin, and to be brief, my life revolves around the drums. I've been playing for 15 years, and I can easily call it my life's passion. From 2013-2015 I studied drum set performance (on scholarships from the school and Zildjian Cymbals) at the world-renowned Drummers Collective School

"Henri is an excellent teacher! I have been a teacher myself for more than 15 years and I recommend him without reservation. He works with my daughter who is five years old and she is always excited about her lessons. She is making excellent progress and is eager to do more. She feels well-supported by Henri who encourages her to take risks with her playing while making her feel that she is doing a great job. Music lessons with this teacher are well worth the money and an excellent investment. We are lucky to have found him!"

Josh is a motivational teacher - our son WANTED to practice each day and that is because of Josh's inspiration and modeling what it takes to be a great drummer. Our son gained both the confidence and ability to audition for an make it into 3 high school bands this year. He couldn't have done it without Josh. He's a terrific percussion teacher and a great guy!"

Drum Lessons in San Jose: Your Guide to Music in the South Bay

Want to take drum lessons in San Jose? You're in a great city to pursue your passion. There are lots of awesome drum teachers in the city, and San Jose is a great place for aspiring drummers!

The first thing you will need for your drum lessons is the right gear. You can buy new and used gear at the San Jose Pro Drum shop, which is owned and operated by Paul Batres and Jimmy DeGrasso. Batres teaches drum lessons, and is very helpful and knowledgeable, and DeGrasso has played with famous musicians and bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Y&T, and Suicidal Tendencies. Stop by the store and these guys will help you find everything you need to get started.

If you're not quite ready to shell out the cash to buy new drum gear, you can get rent-to-own equipment from Music Village. There are two locations in the San Jose area, so you can definitely find a store near you.

When you’re taking drum lessons in San Jose, you have to check out the live music scene. Watching other performers will not only give you inspiration to help you practice, you will be exposed to all different types of music. Plus, live shows are a lot of fun!

Hedley Club Lounge

The Hedley Club lounge is located inside the Hotel De Anza, and it’s one of the best places to see live jazz in the San Jose area. Grab some friends and head to the Hedley Club Jazz Jam. This event happens on the first and third Wednesday of each month, and features some of the South Bay’s best local artists.

The Quarter Note You can see local bands perform live every Friday and Saturday at the Quarter Note in San Jose. There are also pro jams on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, so once you progress in your drum lessons, you can jump on stage and jam out with other musicians.

JJ’s Blues

This is a smaller venue, but a good spot to see local talent. As the name implies, it’s most well-known for blues performances, but live bands also play rock, reggae, and Latin music.

If you’re interested in learning different types of drumming, which can make for a greater overall learning experience, look into some of the drum circle Meetup groups in your area. Meetup groups are a great way to meet other aspiring musicians, practice buddies, and new friends. The Bay Area Drum Circle (http://www.meetup.com/BAdrumcircle/) and Global Drum Circles (http://www.meetup.com/GlobalDrumCircles/) are two groups you may want to check out between drum lessons.

One of the best things about taking drum lessons in San Jose is the opportunity to explore everything your city has to offer. From drum shops to live music, there are countless ways to have fun and expand your knowledge while you learn your craft.

Happy drumming!
