It was my first lesson and now I have some idea how hold the violin and the bow. My homework is to practice a few notes on each string and then to practice playing the A scale. I think I can do it in two octaves. What is challenging is to play the scale without hearing a screeching sound. I'm looking forward to playing like Sarah Chang (hopefully after five lessons).

Rina is a fabulous instructor. My son originally contacted Rina after researching piano teachers in our area. She came highly recommended and as a result he gave me a gift of five piano lessons to start. I became hooked; I've been with Rina for well over a year now and thoroughly enjoy learning. Her background in music is broad and she is creative in her approach to teaching.
The experience has been extremely rewarding for me and I look forward to continuing my journey into piano with Rina for many sessions to come.

Learn how to play classical guitar. Right and left-hand technique. Standard notation reading. Amassing a repertoire.

About Trevor
Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of
music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's
fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I
started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the
huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in
place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection.
After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved
me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the
drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar.

On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the
guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up
a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the lute, the
sitar and, once again, the drums. After on
ly a few years of
practice, I started playing professionally, in bands and solo guitar.
Live playing experience, I believe, is the most important experience
that any musician can have, in that, the most important part of music
is how it sounds, and playing in front of people is the quickest way
to learn how to play effectively. And this is what I teach; how to
be a musician, not just a technician.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect a curriculum tailor-made to their needs and personality. Every person learns differently and this is an important distinction in my teaching style. Some students need a strong hand to keep them working, others need to find many different ways to the same conclusion to keep them focused, while still others need a laid-back friend in order to accept knowledge.

I stress rhythmic literacy, for, as my jazz teacher always said, "rhythm is king." If composition is important to you, then we'll focus on music theory, but if you're just wanting to learn how to play some fun rock tunes with your friends on the weekends, we can do that as well. As I stated before, we'll get you playing in front of people in no time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier, a loner guitar (if needed), staff and/or tablature paper, metronome, pens and paper for the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and composition, guitar, bass, lute, beginner to intermediate piano
Classical, shred, blues, and rock guitar; renaissance lute; blues, rock and slap bass; composition of many styles; world music.

At age 71, my fist lesson with Steve was August 6, 2015. His instructional style, skillful listening, knowledge and passion for music inspired me to practice and practice and write and write. To those ends, Steve encouraged me to attend an Open Mic Night or two after 7 guitar lessons. Though I was shaking like a box of pills at my first OMN, I eventually overcame my fear and played and sang several blues tunes I'd written. My journey continues. Sometimes I feel like I'm six years old, yet I'm learning how to play better under Steve's guidance. His influence on me has been, and continues to be, profound. Steve's integrity is unimpeachable. I enthusiastically recommend Steve as a music teacher. Art Beane

I've taken a couple of lessons from Trevor so far and they have been awesome. I've taken lessons from about 7 or 8 instructors in my lifetime and he is definitely one of, if not the best.
The thing that makes Trevor stand out to me is that he took the time to get to know what I wanted to learn and to figure out how I like to learn. He comes prepared to the lessons with material, answers any questions I have during the week by email and has worked with me to develop a specific education plan to meet my goals.
I suggest taking a trial lesson with this guy to see if you're on the same page. I am definitely not going anywhere else while I live in Austin.

In my 20 year career I have taught hundreds of students ranging from 7 years old to retirees. I take a very tailored approach for each student and help them to realize their potential. I was once where you are now. I wanted to learn but had no clear direction. Throughout the years I learned to pick-up some great techniques from some of the best players. While in college I learned to refine my craft by playing and collaborating with other musicians. Unlike other instructors, I teach through experience. I live and breathe music - and you can too!

About Tony
I am a dedicated father and worker. I have been studying music for over 20 years and have been teaching children since 2002. I've worked as a classroom music teacher and as a private lessons teacher at 3 different schools. I have vast experience in teaching guitar (Electric, Acoustic, Classical) and have taught recorder, piano, mandolin, & recording arts. Because I am a CEO of a local non-profit, I have also been a guest lecturer at Cal Poly Pomona for having music as a "duel career." I have my own classical chamber ensemble, am the choir director at my church, released 3 albums in the past, performed at the Whiskey and other venues on the sunset strip in Hollywood, and helped hundreds of students learn their musical craft. From Bach to Metallica, I've taught it all. Personally I love playing all kinds of music but currently my performanc
e has been focused on classical. If you want a firm foundation grounded in years of experience, you've found the perfect teacher!

Are you looking for a great guitar teacher who will push you to be your best self? Students who take lessons with me are given specialized curriculums to suit their personal guitar goals and make sure they get the most out of their money. Lessons with me are slightly different because of my background. I started out playing classical guitar and this has shaped my guitar learning experiences, which in turn changed the way I teach. I come at things from a musical theory standpoint, with precision and a focus on improvement through better technique and a solid foundation in the basics. Send me a message and we can start learning together!

About Brendon
I have been playing guitar for a total of 8 years, and teaching students for 2 years. In that time I have grown so much as a player and realized an innate ability to get across the best techniques for guitar, reading music and the other facets of music theory.

I started teaching at a professional music school based out of Wesley Chapel called Studio 28. After a while I felt that I had more room to grow as a private teacher and began to find private students. what I lack in experience I make up for in dedication and a constant hunger to learn the best tactics for teaching effectively.

if you are looking for a great modern teacher with new age teaching techniques, give me a try and I promise you wont be disappointed!
