Professional teacher since 2008. Started with a snare drum in fourth grade and never stopped! Alumnus of University of Washington (BM, cum laude, Jazz Studies) + Roosevelt High School. I make sure to teach students what they are most interested in while also providing them with a strong musical foundation they can apply to any path.

First timers, advanced players, children, adults let's dig in and have some fun on the drums! Drawing on my experience from the stage and training in music school I will be happy to be your guide to discover your personal relationship with music.

I have taught drum lessons for over 20 years to students of all ages. I care deeply about helping students reach their goals on the instrument, and I never cease to be amazed at the beauty and creativity involved in making music.

My background in a nutshell: I have a degree in music with a focus on percussion and composition from a major university, I've studied with some of the greatest drummers in the world, and I lead and compose the music for a jazz quartet in New York City.

I'm an easy-going and passionate educator who truly enjoys welcoming others to the world of drumming. I love helping students like you become better players as you deepen your love of music and feel great about yourself in the process.

I devote time to helping you develop a strong foundation of fundamentals while also guiding you as you immerse yourself into your passions. Simply, I can teach you how to learn and appreciate music - a skill that can be applied to all areas of your life.

I believe that we can be complete musicians, not JUST drummers, so I like to involve music making into all we do in our time together. I’m also a constant learner, so if you want to learn something that I don't know, then we can explore it together and I'll teach you my process for educating myself.

I have 17 years experience performing drum set, hand drums, mallets and many other percussion instruments. I received a Bachelor's in Music for Percussion Performance and Music Education from the Sacramento State School of Music and I received my Master's in Music for Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have experience teaching in public schools (high school and middle school levels), the collegiate level, music camps, and I have maintained a private studio for over two years. I have a method of teaching based on what you want to learn while also going over technique, posture, musicianship and music theory. My teaching is based entirely on the student as many people have different ways of learning so I do my best to make myself clear. My goal is to make lessons fun and informative, so let's enjoy the journey of making music!
