About Jessica
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. Please feel free to ask me any questions. -Jessica

***About Jessica***
Jessica is known worldwide for her music which incorporates her original comedy, artwork and videos. She spent a decade touring the US and the UK and has performed in many festivals including the Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, End of the Road Festival, NY Funny Songs Festival, NY International Children’s Film Festival and more.

Jessica’s music and comedy is inspired by being the oldest of 6 girls and growing up in a small town in Maine, where she taught Sunday school and counseled teens and twins in a local after school program for four years. When Jessica was 19, she moved to Philadelphia to study animation after receiving a par
tial scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and relocated to NYC shortly after graduating.

Her unique music, performances, art and internet videos have won many awards and critical acclaim.

She has performed her music and written segments and songs for television (including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, MTV’s “I Bet You Will”, Fox News “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, IFC's "Comedy Music Hall of Fame", HGTV's Flea Market Flip, TBS’s “Saving Grace” website and “The Tyra Banks Show”), radio (including "The Dr. Demento Show", "The Jackie Martling Show", WFMU's "Spreading Yourself Thin with Jessica D" and “The Opie and Anthony Radio Show” on SiriusXM, BBC’s “Loose Ends Radio Programme” and BBC’s “The Simone Show” in the UK), feature films (including “What Would Jesus Buy?” directed by Morgan Spurlock), commercially for major clients and also on stages across the US and the UK (including London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, NYC’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom as John Waters’ opening act, and LA’s Troubadour).

*** Lesson Details ***
Jessica brings a lot of fun to her lessons. She is like a cool aunt or a big sister who likes to have a good time but who also wants to teach you to play guitar or ukulele and sing, hopefully at the same time. Jessica's laid back style and attention to your needs as a student will help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Together, you will go as fast or as slow as is comfortable for you. Jessica works with classic rock, pop, folk and all your favorite songs as your step ladder for learning. Jessica also can help you develop your own musical style and teach you to write YOUR OWN SONGS from beginning to end, if that is of interest to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
amp, microphone, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, music stands

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar and Ukulele. Students can rent instruments initially but must get their own, as soon as possible

*** Specialties ***
Classic stringed instruments such as acoustic / electric guitar and ukulele, and several unusual instruments such as singing saw and electronic and standard autoharp, singing, songwriting and guidance on how to monetize your band, including acquiring sponsorships and arranging local and international tours.

Jessica is a virtuoso on the ukulele. She has the patience of a saint with less than adept students. Yet she is insistent, in a gentle way, about instilling correct form in her students' approach to the uke. In addition, she is a walking encyclopedia of songs that span the range from traditional to standards to current day favorites, and from country to r&B to rock and roll.

As a composer, song writing/composition is one of my strongest subjects. I am a natural writer myself and have been highly trained in classical composition. I have also regularly dealt with rock/pop/progressive writing as well including lyric writing.

About Terry
Terry P. is a composer, producer, and a multi-instrumentalist specializing in guitar and piano. He has been teaching all types of people at all levels for over eight years at Axis Music Academy in Southfield, and has taught over 8,000 lessons. Terry has a Bachelors of Music with a concentration in Composition and Theory from Wayne State University. In 2012, Terry was awarded the prestigious Kresge Arts Fellowship in the performing arts category.
This is Terry's bio from the Kresge Arts In Detroit website:

Terry had already started making a lasting impact on the local rock scene – in his influence over other artists and his musical innovations – prior to studying music composition at Wayne State University. Terry has used this classical training toward his goal of elevating the musical consciousness of popular music audiences by
exposing them to compositional techniques they would otherwise never hear without listening to classical music. Terry, a multi-instrumentalist, has focused his efforts on the exploration of these techniques in contemporary genres, specifically progressive metal. In recent years, he has employed himself as a private instructor and has started scoring music for film.

I make sure that lessons are fun for the student, and that the student is learning material that they like. At the same time, I make sure that my students become well-rounded musicians by teaching them skills in reading and music theory. Lessons are tailored to the student, and my approach varies with everyone I teach. I will fast-track you toward your goal while supplementing your lesson experience with exposure to new things that will challenge you in a fun way. I have learned to play almost every instrument and will teach just about anything, although I am strongest with the piano and guitar. I am open to teaching all ages, all genres/styles, and have even taught students with various disabilities. My extensive training also makes me a good tutor for undergraduate music students taking classes in ear-training and theory.
Beginning students should expect to be playing a handful of their favorite songs after studying with me for a few months, and as well they will have a basic understanding of reading notes on the instrument, and a basic understanding of music theory fundamentals. Advanced students will find that they are continually inspired and challenged.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument and practice amp. for guitar/bass, the student must have their own instrument and amp. piano students must have their own piano and drum students must have their own drum kit. I can bring books and other materials and may recommend that students buy certain books etc.

*** Specialties ***
For piano, I specialize in classical, and can teach anyone from 5-year-old beginners to advanced players. I can teach any style.
For guitar, I specialize in metal and progressive rock. I can teach any ability level and any style.

Terry was awesome. My six and eight-year-olds loved working with him. They learned more in 5 weeks than they had in six months with a private teacher they had before. He challenged them with new things, which made them uneasy at first. But he showed patience and got them to build confidence while reinforcing the stuff that they had learned before. Instead of playing the same easy things over and over, he forced them to try new things which worked out great.

Nothing is quite as rewarding as writing your own material, however, it's easy to feel stuck with an idea if you don't know how to fully develop it. I will help you take that one lick/chord change/vocal melody you've been working on and turn it into a fully fleshed out song. We'll take the time to learn the individual roles and functions of certain song sections, and pretty soon you'll be writing your best material with much more focus and confidence!

About Jonah
Learning to play the guitar is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever have. Whether this is your first time picking up the guitar or you've been playing for years, I'll make sure your lessons are structured and paced in a way that's specifically catered to your goals.

I've worked with dozens of students of all ages over the last seven years and seen each of them achieve major breakthroughs and discover/rekindle a passion for music.

If you're interested in getting started, I'd love to hear from you! I teach out of my studio in Culver City but am available for in-home lessons as well.

I've been taking guitar lessons with Jonah for a few months now and it s great!! I'm learning sooo much. Whether you've never played guitar or EVER played guitar he is a super knowledgeable teacher. It is so enriching and worth it. Let's face it, the year has been stressful. My weekly lesson gets me grounded just by playing my own beautiful music. Anyway, thanks to those who've posted and recommended Jonah. I'm A BELIEVER or should I say "JONALIEVER?"

I started playing guitar at age 10 but had let it go over the past couple decades. Eager to re-learn the instrument, I recently started taking lessons with Jonah Rosenthal and he's fantastic. Exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for - thorough, creative, encouraging, and most important - patient. I can't recommend him highly enough, for someone just starting out on the guitar or a lapsed player like me.

I've been playing guitar (on and off) for over 50 years. I read Jonah's post about 3 months ago and decided to call Jonah for lessons. I had been feeling very rusty and wanted to polish my skills and learn some new songs. I've already learned a lot from Jonah and my guitar playing sounds much better in every way. Jonah has been great to work with, he is easy-going, fun and most importantly, he's a great teacher.

Reading the detailed "About" section below should give an aspiring singer/songwriter all the information relevant as to how and what I teach, with regard to vocal performance and technique. I have associated with published songwriters my entire 40 year career, and have gathered viable and pertinent knowledge of the craft that I can now pass along to a new era of writers. We will unpack the secrets of good songwriting, and we will write songs. We have the capabilities in my studio to record and mix your songs as well. I have co-written songs with my students that have been nominated for rewards in Nashville. Look at our sessions as practical, relevant clinics that will produce original musical material that will be heard, as you absorb the knowledge you need to be successful in this genre. To capsulize my mission statement as an instructor: You WILL be a better singer/songwriter and performer. THIS I GUARANTEE!!

About Glenn
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At age 14, I auditioned for, and was added to cast of a
network television variety program, "The Gene Carroll Show", that was a television institution for over 30 years in the Midwest. I was a featured performer on that program for over 7 years, all the while perfecting the art of "playing to a camera." This experience was invaluable, and the knowledge I gathered is now included in my curriculum. I also began performing a solo act in the nightclub circuit at the age of 15, performing up and down the "north coast" from Cleveland, OH, (my home), to Erie. PA. At a very young age, I learned the difficult art of choosing musical material and pacing a show; also adapting to performing under a myriad of conditions with a vast array of musical accompaniment. After graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I assembled my own band, and took to the road. That experience eventually brought the act to Las Vegas in 1982. Over the years my show has been a staple in major casino cabarets in Las Vegas, and all over Nevada. Since my first engagement at The Landmark Hotel in the early 1980's, I have literally been up and down the famed Las Vegas Strip many times over. The Desert Inn, The Dunes, The Stardust, The Maxim, The Tropicana, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Bally's, The Flamingo, The Imperial Palace, The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Fremont, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and a three year engagement at The Riviera. My show is truly comprised of musical variety; classics, show tunes, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, country. Even a presentation of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, that I perform in full costume. It is this ability to successfully deliver an extensive repertoire that I am enthusiastic about passing along to the next generation of entertainers.

I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way.
Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Content of Sessions

Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous
week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.

I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and
especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.

I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.

Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.

The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".

I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. Let's get started!

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge.
Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. My studio is also equipped with piano (for vocal exercises), and guitars, which gives me opportunity to accompany my students when the musical moment is appropriate. Be assured that all the technology I need to fulfill the educational needs of my students is but a step away!!

Glenn broke down the fundamentals of reading, character development, and script analysis to help make a more believable performance. Now we're getting into blocking and developing the physical aspects of a character. I'm learning a great deal and Glenn's patience and encouragement make him the ideal instructor to learn and grow. No matter the genre, my songwriting techniques are guaranteed to help you write hit after hit. We can write to tracks or with no music at all. Either way, I will assist you in constructing melodies, lyrics and content that will be a sure win!

About Margo
Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Are you ready for something different? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME!

I know what it's like to be frustrated with boring exercises and processes that seem to take a lot of time but yield no results. That's why I decided to teach: DIFFERENTLY!

I've invested a lot of time, energy, emotion and $$$ on big-name schools and "experts", to only be disappointed with what I was taught because a lot of the information or techniques the assigned simply didn't apply to me or my goals.

I make sure that my students are not disappointed and I offer GUARANTEED RESULTS and a lot of fun!

I have been the private vocal coach for multiple contestants on American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice and several other vocal competitions spanning over 10 countries
. I also train business owners, salespeople and those who are simply terrified to present themselves in the art of public speaking.

This is NOT your average coaching session! This is for those who are ready to finally overcome the world’s #1 fear: PUBLIC PERFORMANCE.
Get ready to present yourself, business, product or service with confidence, personality and effectiveness.

My lighthearted and humorous approach to seemingly stressful situations, especially in the public performance sector, have made me a highly sought-after coach for one-on-one and group training.

My approach is designed to train and condition the entire body as an instrument, not just the oral portion of the voice. My 5-octave vocal range allows me to easily instruct my students in developing their whistle register (see special pricing for whistle training). I have been trained in (and teach) Classical, Appoggio, jazz/improv, Seth Riggs' speech-level singing and other methodologies of singing and speaking.

My method of assessing and meeting the needs of each student enables me to assist them in bringing out the very best in their capabilities. If you desire quality, effectiveness and noticeable improvement in your singing, writing, public speaking or overall performance, I am the coach for you!
Whether you are a beginner or professional, I make sure that you are comfortable and have a great time while learning. I am flexible with your needs so feel free to let me know what you want from your lessons and we can work towards your goal to your satisfaction.

Not only am I a coach, I’m a professional singer and public speaker, so I utilize and perfect my own techniques on a regular basis. I have the privilege of being a classically-trained pianist and vocalist, having studied at Sherwood Conservatory of Music, Vandercook College of Music, The Second City, University of Chicago, ETA Performing Arts Center and many other fine institutions.

Children love working with me because I make learning fun and they have a high retention rate of the techniques that I teach them. I am easygoing, funny and offer a minimalist, casual and relaxed environment for everyone. My adult students have a blast because our lessons feel more like a friendly visit with lighthearted humor.

Andrew is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, backing vocals) who settled in Las Vegas in 2013. After graduating with honors from Musicians Institute in 2008, he wrote a collection of acoustic guitar pieces licensed to The Weather Channel, then spent 5 years working as a show musician and top-40 musician for 3 cruise lines.

Currently In Las Vegas, Andrew splits his time between his original band, various productions in the casino showrooms, a well-known local country cover band, teaching, running his own music copying, arranging, and orchestration company, various freelance engagements, and spending time with his amazing wife and two sons.

Andrew's original band, "Tin Toy Cars," formed in 2014 and consists of two local Las Vegas musicians and a few musicians from Cirque du Soleil. Their debut album entitle
d "Falling, Rust, and Bones" was released in January 2016 and as a result of the volume of radio play across the country, immediately set a new all-time record on the national Americana Music Association Charts for highest new artist debut. The band's first music video made it's debut in March 2016 courtesy of The Huffington Post, along with a feature article. Along with the premier article were various national press releases and articles featuring the band and the album. Their second album has been completed and will be released in early 2018.

Andrew currently plays in the orchestra for the weekly production "Brunch to Broadway" at Red Rock Resort and Casino. The show features original members of Broadway's "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and the wonderful music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Band members include musicians from "Le Reve" at the beautiful Wynn Resort, as well as long time veterans of Bette Midler's Orchestra and Donnie and Marie Osmond's backing band.

Andrew also performs with local country cover and line dance band "The Voodoo Cowboys." The band can be seen almost any night in Las Vegas between the famed Gilleys at Treasure Island, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar at Harrah's Resort, and one of the three stages at the amazing Fremont Street Experience.

Andrew also plays in the band at a local church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and teaches a handful of lessons each week on his various instruments.

I will show you tried and true methods that are calculable to write songs that will sound just like your favorite hit song.

About Nick
About Nick:

He is a full-time professional musician who has taught hundreds of students how to play. You can see him play six nights a week at The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino, performing guitar duties in the new hit show: World's Greatest Rock Show!

Nick has also transcribed over a dozen books for the Hal Leonard Publishing Co.

He has spent time as a private guitar and bass instructor at an accredited Conservatory of Music, two music stores, three private schools, as well as in his own private studio before relocating to Las Vegas to pursue more playing opportunities!

His playing experience includes, but is not limited to: original funk/rock/fusion groups, jazz ensembles, metal bands, improv bands, and various cover/tribute bands.

His performance experience has found him entertaining on large festival stages throughout t
he midwest, as well as intimate club and casino gigs, private parties, corporate events and weddings.

Nick has been teaching private lessons and masterclasses since 2004. He has a extensive experience teaching all styles of electric and acoustic guitar, including extended range instruments. Additionally, he teaches bass, improvisation, music theory, songwriting, and advanced techniques.

During your lessons you will work on anything from absolute basics, your favorite songs, reading notes, music theory and ear training to technique, improvisation, composition and anything in-between! And you will be learning in ways that are fun to play, sound good and can be applied immediately to your current playing!

Stop waiting! It's time to begin or extend your guitar knowledge and get you achieving that sound you're looking for!

Although an occasional book may be recommended, and any book you already have can be used, all other lesson materials will be provided (sheet music, charts, scale info, jam tracks, etc.) by your instructor!

Nick is a fabulous instructor. As a novice player taking lessons from a pro, he is able to instruct and motivate me to improve my skills. What I like most is his ability to be flexible when teaching the lessons. (I just learned how to pay Purple Rain because I was devastated when Prince died). I shared my feelings with Nick, and he showed me the chords.
He makes my on-line classes feel as though I'm in his home. He is highly skilled and supports my vision of being in a Rock Band one day. He chuckles and ... We Rock on!! I highly recommend Nick!

About Annie
Annie brings a unique set of experiences to every musical venture she embarks on. After graduation, she moved to Nashville, where she resides today, writing and performing original country music under the stage name Annie Kennedy. All of these experiences make her a well rounded and versatile performer and teacher. For her students, she can help them find their unique voice and style, while teaching classical sensibilities and vocal technique for healthy delivery and perfo
