Students in this subject can study a variety of components related music theory and/or songwriting. Students can expect to learn the fundamentals of music theory and how it works, and if interested how to incorporate this knowledge into their own songs or musical interests.
Music theory and songwriting covers a broad range of music disciplines and students can expect to learn how to analyze their favorite songs, learn how to construct beats if they are interested in music programming, or even further their understanding into the worlds of classical and jazz studies.
Students will be expected to supply their own instruments, equipment and materials in instances where they would like to relate their music theory study to a specific instrument. They must also bring a notebook to write down songs they are interested in and/or artists and groups they would like to study. Students interested in classical or jazz study will need to purchase specific books and materials at the teachers ...

Songwriting is my personal favorite way to work with music. It allows us to highlight what is unique and interesting about our individual voices and stories. Theory and technique can help, but no amount of either necessary for songwriting, nor will any amount of either automatically result in good songs. It's all about honing in on a creative vision.
I am always excited to students with this fun and potent aspect of the musical life. I respect the courage it requires to take this step, and I carefully avoid offering guidance that is overbearing or discouraging. What I will offer is a lot of experience, having written countless songs of my own over the years and also studied and taught virtually every style of song for all the masters. This gives me a wide array of tools, tips, and strategies, along with sincere feedback and encouragement. I hope you'll give it a try!

Teaching Philosophy:
I work closely with students to create a safe environment for learning and growth. We return the voice to its natural state with a science based approach. Each exercise has a purpose to help strengthen the systems used in healthy singing. Through this approach students effectively expand range, improve vocal tone and breath control. Once the voice is optimized through healthy technique, limitations fall to the wayside.

Fawn is a warrior for justice. She rights all the wrongs of other teachers bad coaching. She turned my sons bad piano habits around in just 2 lessons! My daughter's bad vocal habits changed after the first lesson! I have never seen anything like it. We are grateful to have found her. I now have confidence that my children are in the best hands possible. I love the energy she puts into her recitals and the enormous student base she has is an affirmation that she is doing great things in California!
