I teach guitar to all levels! I want to know your favorite songs and I will help you learn to play through the music that YOU like. Guitar is fun, even though it takes a lot of practice, and every time you have a lesson I want it to make your day better.

I have played many styles of guitar on booth acoustic and electric, including classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, folk, Latin, and Celtic. In my personal practice I am currently enjoying learning more about open tunings and live looping with a pedal. If you are interested in learning music theory, improvisation, and songwriting I have many of my own unique methods to help you on the road to creativity and composition as well as technical skill.

As a certified yoga teacher I also emphasize correct body posture and relaxation to help make your playing more efficient and decrease discomfort.

I have taught guitar lessons to a variety of different students, young and old, experienced and beginner! I teach a multitude of different genres and styles including Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Rock! I can help with everything from technique to theory and teach you any song you would like to know how to play. I have toured and played many music festivals so if your goal is to learn how to play guitar in a band setting I can also help with that!

I've been playing guitar, composing multi-instrumental music, producing music, playing in professional and local bands, and have been an active studio session player for 17 years.
I have been teaching guitar for just as long, and helped many students understand break-through concepts and acquire skills that other teachers were unable to.
I have taught total and complete beginners to play their favorite song after 2 weeks, with 1 hour per day practice time. I taught my best friend and my brother to play guitar, both are now in professional touring bands.

We'll focus on the fundamentals of good right- and left-hand technique through a mix of pieces and etudes. You'll learn to read standard notation, but my focus is on getting you actually playing music. We'll also talk about issues of muscle tension and musicality.

I have had the great opportunity to teach all levels for over 15 years in the United Kingdom, South Africa and the USA. I have held positions as guitar teacher at many Colleges, Universities and Companies around the UK and USA. I have worked in the distant learning department at the Manhattan School of Music, teaching students around the country from their studio base. With many of my students going onto music schools such as The New School, NYC, Queens College, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire I believe that I have a wide range of experience with all age ranges from beginners to beyond advanced. I focus on making the lessons as fun and engaging as possible whilst keeping on track to certain goals set by myself and the student throughout the year.

Each lesson is tailored to fit each individual student. We will use the guitar method that best fits your goals, supplementing that learning with songs in the genre(s) of music you enjoy most so learning the instrument will be fun.
