I have 30 years experience in playing and teaching many styles, including rock, folk, classical, and jazz, I have played classical guitar at weddings for over 30 years, both as a soloist and with ensembles. I have put together occasional jazz groups. I am also familiar with much rock and folk music, especially from the '60s.

About Geoff

I played on a toy piano when I was very young, learning a bit of sight reading from my Mother, while listening to classical, jazz, and rock music. When I was 12, I learned guitar and later took private piano lessons from a prominent Philadelphia instructor. After playing in a rock band in high sc

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

I specialize in Country Acoustic Blues, finger-picking, flat picking, and slide. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I started learning guitar on my own. I got some CD’s. It got me started. However, I wasn’t progressing. I looked for an instructor in my area and Brian Gross came up in my search engine. I was very frustrated at first but Brian assured me it takes time and practice. It’s the little things that he teaches you that makes all the difference. If you listen to what he tells you and apply it you will amazed. Great musician, great teacher.

Brian is a wonderful, fun, and very supportive guitar teacher. He encourages students like me to practice and learn, and he gives very positive and tailored instruction. He allows his students to choose the style of music that they want to learn, and he offers the easiest and most straightforward way to learn it. He prepares his lessons very well, and it is always a joy to see his cheerful face. Even someone like me who sometimes fumbles around with the strings can feel comfortable in his great manner of teaching. I find that I have learned quite a bit in a very short amount of time, even with my busy work schedule. The guitar exercises that he gives us are fun to do and so effective. I highly recommend him as a guitar teacher, and I look forward to many more lessons with him.

"I took lessons from Greg for guitar some years ago and his methods really helped me understand music with the way he taught chord theory and such. It applied to literally every instrument I learned afterwards.

Greg also has a plenty of patience for his students and is really good at encouraging growth and understanding in his students. Sometimes I would come in with a song I wanted to learn that was way more advanced than I was at the time, but rather than say I couldn't play it or to wait until later, he would take that difficult song and help break it down into what I did know and we'd go from there and as I result I felt I learned quickly, as well as understood how to break down songs into their more basic elements which would become later on for when I wrote my own music or lead in bands.

All in all a great experience and I feel like I owe a lot of my musical ability to the lessons I took with Greg."

"A friend and I talked about learning to play the guitar. This friend gave me a gift of my first lesson three months ago, and I've already learned a lot more than I ever expected in such a short time. Jimmy is such a knowledgeable teacher, and a very patient guy, There have been several times when I've asked him to review something he's taught me. He explains things clearly and in a respectful way, never making me feel inadequate. I am learning so much about music theory and why he is teaching me what he's teaching, and that helps things make more sense. (Well, most things! Haha!) I highly recommend Jimmy as a teacher and thank my friend Tim for such a great gift."
