As a singer, I believe having a well trained ear is an integral part of becoming a successful and competent musician. I encourage all of my students, regardless of their specific goals as singers, so make ear training and sight singing priorities in their training.

Lane was an amazing instructor. She is easy to talk to, and listens to the student. I learned so much during my time with her. I was very disappointed when she had to leave the school. Lane is extremely knowledgable, and makes learning fun. I hope our singing paths cross again!

Sean was a great teacher. I asked him if he knew how to teach Bollywood style Violin and even though he didn't he took the time to study it and learn just to teach me. I really appreciate that he was so open to trying so hard for his students. I think Sean is great!
Marc T.
Great first lesson. High hopes for follow lessons.

I self-taught myself guitar over 35 years ago; mostly forgotten. Sean began with establishing goals that would meet my goals. The feedback to me during the lessons was focused and delivered in a friendly manner. Progression was enhanced due to his manner and his approach to teaching. While this was the first lesson, I am looking forward to future lessons.

Learning to play by ear can be the most exciting way to learn to play music. In fact, many of your idols did not have the technology that we have today and had only their ear to guide them along. I feel that they did it best. Who wouldn't want to play along with their favorite artist. Whether it's Hendrix, Metallica, or 5 Seconds of Summer, I would love to help you figure it out.

He knows how to teach, but he taught from his iPad, iPhone, in his car. I kept asking him how to draw, and he kept showing me from his iPad. This didn't translate to a good experience. If he wants to teach, he needs to do it NOT from his car.

I grew up in a musical family. My mother was a piano teacher for 20 years, and my father could play any instrument he decided to pick up. From as young as I can remember, music was always surrounding me. I came to love it in all its forms and styles. I began playing piano when I was a little girl,

"I brought my son to Randy two years ago to see if he would be a good fit as an instructor.

I had always wanted to learn to play the piano myself, but thought that because I never learned (and probably never would), I would make sure my son learned how!

My son is not only well on his way to learning to play the piano by by ear, he is also having a blast recording his own music! Randy always emails out a recap of the lesson along with things to work on for the upcoming week. I love these recaps because I can listen to the music they recorded and know what my son should be working on. It's great!

I always remembered hearing about what learning to play an instrument was like when I was younger (probably why I never tried to learn), an old blue hair wapping your hand with a ruler when you did not practice enough.

This is not what it is like at all with Randy. Lessons can be as engaging as you want them to be. Randy has a special talent to know what to focus on every week based on how his student is feeling.

I know this because I have witnessed several lessons where my son has been a real bundle of energy bouncing off the walls and Randy was able to reel him in and make progress for the day!

I have enjoyed watching my son grow as a musician so much , that I started taking lessons from Randy about a year ago. My favorite part about the process is I told Randy up front that I wanted to play November Rain by Guns -n- Roses, (no easy task). He did not tell me that it was an impossible, or that it was a bad idea... He just drew the sheet music and we got after it. It has been awesome learning my favorite song along and at the same time learning how to play the piano by ear.

You will begin to listen to all music differently after spending time with Randy, that is a fact.

I have always been a lover of music, but it goes to the next level when you start to gain an understanding and a feeling of how the music is put together.

I know that Randy is able to look down the road with each student and know how exactly how to teach each individual because everyone responds differently.

Randy really does a terrific job making sure you know that it is not IF you will reach your goals, but WHEN.

I am confident that we will be his students as long as he will have us, and I highly recommend you give him a try! You won't be disappointed!"

"I'm delighted with Barbara as my piano instructor! As a senior citizen I find her knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, kind, friendly and professional in her approach. She takes into account my aims and goals as she develops effective lessons to reach those goals. Her music methods are up to date, as she matches the music to my preferred tastes. As she challenges me to reach my potential, she also allows for flexibility In order to meet my needs. I have also observed her working with very young children as well as young adults with the same satisfying results. I am very pleased and I recommend Barbara as the answer to your search for a piano instructor !"

"Omer has been an excellent teacher! I’ve over heard several lessons with him and my son and I’m always impressed by the breath of knowledge he has. In just a few weeks my son has been inspired to play the piano for hours at a time. Originally Omer was going to teach my son violin but they switched to piano so that they could explore their common interest in composing music for film. I am immensely pleased with him and recommend him wholeheartedly!"
