I teach ear training using the movable doe solfege system. This system is what is used at most contemporary music schools. It is ideal for jazz, and pop as well as country and other similar styles. If you plan to attend a classical conservatory this will most likely not be the system used.

Ear training is an essential skill for instrument learning. From years of playing horn and conservatory theory, I have gained experience in aural recognition. We will work on prepared and sight-singing along with dictation as a fundamental part of the lesson.

Ear Training:
A great technique for those who have never trained their ear and want to learn to be on pitch, to those who have good ears, but want to learn to sing notes that are written on the staff, ear training can be fun. I always start out with the basics and only progress as the student feels comfortable, learning and matching notes and rhythms.

Learn all intervals, what the intervals are called in theory, how to determine chord quality, how to determine chord progression and how to figure out a melody on your own just by listening.

Want to learn how to play songs by ear? Ear Training or "Musicianship" is an extremely intricate and fascinating art form that I recommend EVERY musician becomes familiar with.

I teach relative pitch training, interval training, and chord progression recognition, as well as major and minor chordal ear training. I think the best musicians are made of a combination of training and natural ability or science and creativity.
