Xi is VERY knowledgeable of the art of horn playing. I understand what she is saying without difficulty. She knows what she is doing and her skill in teaching is above average. Dynamic and effective lessons. Fundamentals of horn playing explained thoroughly through fun, easy to follow drills and video clips from the instructor. Each student gets a designated share drive with lesson notes, assignments, technique videos etc.

She is great with small kids

David explains things in a manner that I could easily understand. He was calm, patient, and respectful of skill level.

Awesome teacher! Not just a great drummer, but patient and articulate. He was really able to help me understand and execute in ways I never could before. Seems like he would also be great with kids...super patient and encouraging!

David is a very skilled drummer and a very enthusiastic teacher. In lessons, he seems to like to split time between practicing rudiments and learning to play different rhythms on the set. He is also exceptionally patient and supportive with my 9-year-old, highly distractible daughter. David is very positive, pointing out things that are going well and interesting rhythms that they discover. I am really glad we found David--he is an excellent teacher and I love watching my daughter learn so much about music!

Saturday is one of the most phenomenal instructors I’ve ever had! They really worked with me to understand where I was struggling and found a way to practice that worked for me! They are always so patient and ready to teach. I truly feel like I have improved so much since I started lessons with them!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Saturday so far! As a classically trained singer who has spent all of the quarantine away from choral ensembles and a capella groups, it was absolutely refreshing to be able to dive into a different aspect of music (in my case, broadway singing) while touching up on the music theory aspects of the genre itself. I've been pleasantly surprised by the way that Saturday has been able to relate the more modern styles of singing to what I am already comfortable with while keeping the mood of the lessons fun yet efficient. It's definitely been worth my time and I'm excited to continue learning with them.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to learn from Saturday! I worked with them for a while and always enjoyed their company and general attitude! Eventually, I decided to start taking lessons from them and I am so glad I did! I learned about music theory, different styles of singing, and how to healthily use my voice. I have vocal scarring/damage that causes me discomfort and some pain, especially while singing. Saturday was able to teach me ways to sing comfortably as well as improve my overall sound! It has been and continues to be great!! :)

I am not one to take the time to write a review, but my experience must be shared and voiced. I met Professor Candid in early September. Hesitant to start, she immediately provided me with the safest space to be myself, to express my doubts, and to expand on the craft of music with her guidance. She exceeded my expectations time and time again, giving me endless tips, daily practice routines that not only incorporated vocals but mind, body and soul altogether. She did not hesitate to keep me in mind throughout the week, sending me clips of artists, helping me envision my own personal voice. She is always attentive, extremely patient, and has such grace when communicating with you about everything. I have been a music student for most of my life, have been with a handful of music teachers and she is 1 out of 2 teachers that have fully created a 100% non-judgmental environment for me to grow and learn. She always has a great listening ear and always keeps in mind what your personal goals and intentions are, guiding you with any small or huge dream you have your mind set for. If you’re looking for a professor that will not give up on you, will constantly be available to help you throughout the week, someone that shares her joy, teaches you not only her limitless knowledge on music but her wisdom that will forever leave you with such joy and peace every time you end your class session with her, then do not doubt to take your lessons with her! She is the best out here! Forever giving amazing quality lessons! You won’t regret it, I promise you!

Candida is an incredible music teacher and I feel lucky to be her student.

I started taking lessons with Candida since March this year. With some background in guitar (mostly self-taught, mixed with learning from different teachers on and off), I wanted to create a more solid music foundation. I wanted not just to play guitar by following videos and tabs, but become a “musician”, that can improvise, play by ear, compose my own pieces eventually. My goals included learning how to read sheet music, training for a better ear, basic singing and piano skills. Candida created a personalized learning plan with all the above goals in mind, gave me homework each week that was catered to my strengths and interests. Her vast knowledge in music education also allowed me to learn tactics backed by research to accelerate my memory and overall learning. We focused on the following topics this year: For singing, correct placement of head voice and chest voice; practices to soften head voice in higher notes and gain a smoother transition. Ear train that focused on singing (not just listening) melodic and harmonic chords (triads and different extensions). Sheet music reading and playing for several classical pieces (Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky). Basic chords voicing, cadences, inversions, and accompanying singing for some classic songs (Elton John, Cold Play for example). I was amazed at how much progress I made in just 9 months. I am able to sing confidently several songs I loved (including Bohemian Rhapsody) while accompanying myself on piano (I had only touched piano probably only 3 times before March). I also added couple of classical piano pieces into my repertoire (including a beautiful Waltz by Chopin that dumbfounded my friends). I can “hear” melodies better and locate notes with much ease. Candida also encourages her students to show their progress and perform, and I even participated in two student recitals this year, and was quite proud of the performances. I can't recommend Candida enough!

My 11 year old worked once 45 minutes weekly with Candid for approximately 5 weeks practicing a couple English songs she was familiar with and two Portuguese songs that were new to her (she does not speak Portuguese). It was incredibly rewarding to witness her skills develop in such a short period, as well as her self-confidence and self image. She is half Brazilian, and she was so proud to relate with her Papai—Daddy—in his language. I also had the pleasure to virtually attend an online concert of Candid’s adult and younger students. Her rapport was beautiful with the patchwork of her student body—an eclectic group whose skills filled the spectrum, but whose passion burned bright as one. I highly recommend Candid as a teacher. I will note that she did classes online, and I encouraged practice between classes. She did not solely rely on the weekly classes as a means for learning and improvement. Her skills improved steadily over the five weeks with the guidance and careful coaching of Candid’s classes. Practice between classes was essential to make the most out of all Candid has to offer.

Brian was very patient with my son. He made sure he was aware of his instructions. He even guided him back to the correct path when he was unsure of the information. Great teacher!

Tremendously knowledgeable and able to teach complex things very simply. Everything he taught me was so much more profound and important to understanding music that I could have imagined. Highly recommend him as a mentor if one is at all interested in music.
