My students have spanned every age, experience level, and walk of life through the years... Some wanted to join a band, some wanted to go on to music school, some were aspiring songwriters, and others were simply interested in an awesome hobby! I've been teaching acoustic guitar for over 13 years and teach a mix of playing technique, music theory, ear training, as well as working on songs and styles of playing that the student is interested in. Along with my teaching experience, I have plenty of stage and studio experience as well which allows me to bring those things to the table. More real world and less dry and academic you might say...

About Cameron

STUDYING WITH ME: Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

I enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. He explained things clearly so I could understand. Can't wait for my next lesson.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

I have been a student of Tim’s for a little over a year now. I started playing guitar at age 52 and when I started with Tim I was very close to giving up or settling on just being able to strum a few chords. I have had many hand injuries in the past that have resulted in arthritis and lack of dexterity in my wrists and some of my fingers and I started doubting I would ever be able to progress in my ability to play. From the very first lesson where I told Tim about my hand issues and my frustrations, he told me he was sure we could work around any physical limitations I had, and he was right. Tim has been able to work with me on alternative ways to play the chords I was having trouble with and has shown me that these alternate techniques along with the bit of music theory he sprinkles into lessons can really expand my ability to play.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.

Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.
Sam
Tim is an excellent guitar teacher and an overall great guy. He provided me with structure and support, enabling me to make the most out of my practice and ultimately progress as a player. His warm personality and contagious enthusiasm for music kept me looking forward to our time together each week. He was also very flexible when it came to scheduling to accommodate for my dynamic schedule.
Brad
Tim is an excellent teacher, providing excellent advice, practice techniques, and insights. He makes learning and improving easy and enjoyable.

All ages are welcome! I've been playing guitar for 15 years, and been involved in multiple groups and bands (playing guitar, bass, drumset, marching drums, and sometimes vocals) since 2008. I teach fundamentals of playing (finger-picking or with a pick), how to read tabs, alternate tunings, chord structure, the importance of scales, and can help you learn to pick up your favorite songs just by listening to them! If you are interested, I can also show you how to get started on recording your own music!

About James

I'm a guitar/marching drum teacher from Oxford, AL. I've been playing guitar for 15 years and marching percussion for 11 years. I am currently employed as an electrician on a US Navy submarine in New London, CT, but music has always been my main passion. I teach guitar (beginner to intermediate)

I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

Ahmad is awesome. He's very patient and didactic. He easily picked up what was my playing level and what were my objectives. He then started with a plan adjusted to what I wanted to accomplish and in only 5 lessons I feel like I've learned a lot already. He wants you to have the foundations first, the building blocks from which you can improvise or create something new. Thanks a lot, Ahmad!

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.

"I should note first that Calvin is teaching my 13-year-old son both piano and guitar (electric and acoustic) and has been for nearly two years now. Calvin is an excellent instructor and really inspires my son to try harder to improve his skills on all three instruments. He is patient, but has high expectations and he supports and encourages by sharing his own stories of his life in music and how he has had to work to perfect a skill or overcome a difficulty. He challenges my son just above his ability level so it is not stressful, but it isn't easy either. Calvin is great at helping students develop expression so the piece sounds really good, while also encouraging the student to add his own style, when it is appropriate. Calvin is flexible and communicative. We home school and he is very kind in helping us come up with a manageable schedule. We are so grateful for Calvin and his sharing the gift of music with our family. I recommend him without reservation."
