I've studied classical guitar with Dr Pinnell at the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. I prefer the Frederic Node method. I start all my students with simple finger picking accompaniment that leads well into playing finger style.

About Barbara
Originally from Wisconsin, I was a music student at UW LaCrosse before coming to LA to attend Musician's Institute in Hollywood,(GIT) where I graduated with honors and was awarded a USA Custom Ibanez guitar. I remained in LA working in numerous bands spanning a wide variety of musical styles including blues, rock, country, surf, and even Persian music! With "The California Girls", an all female surf band, I opened for "The Beach Boys" , "The Safaris", "Jan and Dean", "Steppin Wolf"; toured the US playing theaters, fairs, casinos; and played overseas for the troops in Bosnia, Kosovo, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Iraq, Afghanistan, Norway, Germany, the Pacific Islands, and Diego Garcia. Most recently I was a member of the Greg London band, an impressionist with whom I performed in Leicester Square in the West End of London, at Harrah's Re
no and the Las Vegas Hilton for extended runs. I fill in with "ThundHerStruck", an all female AC/DC tribute band and recently did a tour to Afghanistan with them. I also have a band called "Sierra Highway" that performs in the Antelope Valley.
I have studied vocal technique extensively with Robert Edwards, renown vocal coach to the stars (Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow ) and learned to teach his method which is similar to the famous "Seth Riggs" method. I have played piano since early childhood.
I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals and tailoring your lessons specifically to your needs!

I have been playing guitar for 26 years, and have experience playing and teaching practically every style of guitar, including fingerstyle, classical, jazz, folk, rock, blues, pop, country, and metal. Classical is definitely one of the most challenging genres, but also one of the most rewarding. I have been teaching guitar for almost 10 years. Let my experience and patience guide you on your way to mastering classical guitar!

About Ian
A lifelong musician and songwriter, Ian S. has extensive experience teaching guitar and piano to students age 3 and up both as a private music instructor and as a staff music instructor at the Institute of Music for Children. With 28 years of experience on the guitar and 32 years on piano, Ian has studied and performed with several award-winning music artists, and has written, recorded, and produced over one hundred songs. He plays and teaches a variety of styles on both the guitar and the piano, from classical to jazz to rock. Ian is patient, friendly, and loves sharing the gift of music.

Ian was the guitarist in the Princeton University Jazz Ensemble for 3 seasons, was selected from a nationwide pool of musicians to perform at a special music event at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and was the recipient of the New Jersey Gove

I am very laid back and friendly, and I want you or your child to be as comfortable as possible during our lessons. You or your child will develop confidence and musical intelligence. I will make your lessons fun, enjoyable, and effective. Boredom is not an option! Music is fun... let's keep it that way.

The teaching methods I use will be custom-tailored to your individual needs, personality and specific musical goals. If it's guitar or piano you want to learn, I want to get you playing exactly what you want to be playing as soon as possible. That's what you're here for, and that's what I'm here for. I will make it happen. If it's songwriting that you want to learn, I will help you access that place inside of you that is dying to express itself creatively, and will teach you techniques to harness that energy and translate it successfully into musical expression.

You can expect to learn all the basics of music theory, proper playing techniques, improvisation and spontaneous musical expression, and I will help you develop your "ear" so you can figure out songs you like just by listening to them. This is all about you and your goals, and I want you to achieve them in a fun and engaging way.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, folk, fingerstyle (guitar), etc. I also teach improvisation and songwriting, and try to develop the student's ear for figuring out songs they like on their own.

About Jordan D.

Carrollton, TX

View Full Profile

I am an experienced, educated, professional guitar player with a background in rock, blues, worship, jazz, classical, contemporary, country, and folk guitar. I have played/led for numerous worship teams, independent bands, and ensembles which are detailed in my "about me" section. I graduated Magna-Cum Laude from UTA with a bachelors degree in Music-Media with guitar as my primary performing instrument. I am the worship leader for Living Life Church, a private guitar instructor , an intern under Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio, and a freelance musician/producer/composer.

About Jordan
13 years ago, I picked up a guitar and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am a worship leader for Fellowship of The Parks, an on-staff music-producer and session musician at Drive35 Productions, and a passionate instructor.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent rock bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for many churches including Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, The Cornerstone College Ministry at UTA, FUMC Allen, Living Life Church, and Fellowship of the Parks in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here,
I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and music-production extensively. I graduated Magna Cume Laude with a Bachelor of Music-Media from UTA. After school, I spent 9 months interning/assistant engineering with acclaimed musician/composer/producer Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio in Dallas- whose credits include being the drummer for The Michael Gungor Band and Desperation Band. Then, got hired as an on-staff session musician and music producer at Drive35 Productions. I have also played guitar, mandolin, and bass for multiple pit orchestras and guitar for the North Lake Jazz Ensemble with director Jim Eger.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests. Whether that is classical guitar method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in between.

I have an excellent internet connection and microphone set up for online lessons. I also utilize screen-sharing to make the lessons as close to real life as possible.

A few of my favorite artists include: Michael Gungor, Joe Pass, Andrew Bird, Chopin, Led Zeppelin, Glen Hansard, and Radiohead.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, ukulele, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, theory, and of course learning awesome songs!

I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.

I have worked hard to be a flexible musician and teacher. I am competent in jazz, rock, classical, contemporary, blues, worship, country, and beyond and will be happy to teach any (or all) of these styles to any student.

After many years of contemplating learning an instrument and making excuses like a busy schedule, I finally made the commitment. I started the first few weeks with online videos and made a little progress. I found Jordan through this sight. I was hoping to find someone who would help guide me on a steady path to improvement and growth. Jordan has been a perfect fit for me. He's patient (I'm not). He is encouraging (I'm pretty hard on myself). I am slowly getting better and wanting to stick with it. I think it's because he's clear and methodical in his teaching and he keeps you enthused with music that you like. While I have a long way to go, I practice every day and look forward to my weekly lessons with Jordan. I'm learning the guitar for my self and over the past three month Jordan has helped me stay engaged and excited about playing the guitar. I highly recommend Jordan and will continue to learn from him.

I have always been involved with music in some capacity, but recently decided to get into playing the Guitar. I came across Jordan's profile and felt like he would be the right person to help me learn how to play, and sure enough, that's the case! He will tailor the lesson to the individual he is teaching, so as a result, you walk out actually being able to play something. It's only been a few weeks for me, but I already feel like I am accomplishing my goal of learning to play the Guitar. I plan to continue my lessons, and highly recommend Jordan!

I really enjoyed working with Jordan! His flexible approach to teaching and learning was refreshing. He was able to quickly assess my skill-level and meet me where I was at. During our lessons, I learned what I felt was applicable, as he gears the lessons towards the student, not teaching from a one-size-fits-all lesson plan. He is open to learning new ideas, as I understood the instrument from one perspective, and he a different perspective. He was willing to listen and adjust his teaching style towards my level of understand, and I was able to quickly progress. With his knowledge and his experience, he answered so many questions I had about music. If I take lessons again in the future, I will request Jordan.

About Daniel
Daniel is more than just a guitar teacher, his intimate kowledge of an array of instruments, makes his approach to teaching Guitar more immersive to the student without confusing them. His approach is simple and effective, allowing the student to feel comfortable in their abilities and safe in the teaching environment. Daniel’s passion for teaching as well as learning instruments allows him to connect to the student and get them excited to learn.

Daniel’s background in various musical groups and organizations allows him to understand how students may feel the first day of teaching and how to relate the music to their age and goals. Daniel also understand the importance of breaks and stretching between practicing and lessons. Daniel not only teaches students how to play their pieces but how to properly relax hands and take mental break
s throughout the lessons and during practice.

Daniel’s motto isn’t just to teach Guitar but to really involve the student in all aspects of learning guitar, getting the student to engage in the pieces, teaching them how to properly warm up before and after pieces, and how to stretch and approach difficult pieces by allowing mental breaks and keeping the environment light and fun.

Hello!,

Our lessons will be relaxed and fun. I take pride in tailoring my curriculum to the needs and goals of each individual student- This helps me make sure that you are learning at a pace that feels comfortable for you, yet challenging.

We will work together to develop both your musicianship and creativity. I am a firm believer in music being a healing and mind-opening practice. One of my primary goals while teaching is to give my students an outlet to express themselves in a healthy and meaningful way. Let's get started!

Topics we can focus on together:
- Theory
- Improvisation
- Strumming/finger-picking patterns
- How to sing and play at the same time
- Songwriting/Recording techniques
- Lyric Writing
- Stage Presence
- Exploring different musical genres

About Dayna
Hello!,

My classical training began at age 10, when I started to play the viola. From there, I was able to translate my musical skills to violin, guitar, piano, voice, composition, and songwriting.

Originally a biology major at SUNY Purchase College, I quickly became restless knowing that I was unable to focus on music enough. So, I switched it up, followed my passion, and began studying music theory and production. Since then, my life has been focused on teaching, performing, writing, and recording music- and I wouldn't have it any other way!
It's been quite a journey, and I can't wait to share all that I've learned along the way with you.

Whether you are just starting out, or are looking to further the knowledge you already have, I will meet you at where you are, and help you to achieve your personal goals.

Together we can work o
n technique, theory, improvisation, ear-training, songwriting, and more!

Do you want to unlock the mysteries of the guitar fretboard? Learn to play songs, improvise for the first time or explore new ideas for improvisation, study rhythmic grooves and learn to keep and feel the beat. Guitar can be a vehicle for your souls' deepest expression and also a form of practicing meditation. I began teaching before I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After Berklee, I performed in several bands, toured Europe and worked as a sound engineer for both live and studio settings including several festivals in Costa Rica.. I can help guide you with creating your own sound recordings if desired. Whether you are just getting started or an experienced guitarist looking for some unique perspective I'd love to help you find a new groove! My favorite styles to play are rock, reggae, R&B and the blues but I also play funk, jazz and classical guitar. Drop me a line today!

About Jennifer
I began playing guitar at 12 years old. Before that I had dappled with the piano and always sang. There was something about the guitar that just drew me in! I always loved seeing the hands of guitar players and the sounds that would accompany those shapes.

Guitar is a very pattern based instrument. Once you learn the patterns and intentionally "program" those patterns into your playing, you eventually don't have to think about the theory or the pattern you can just play guitar effortlessly! But first it takes practice. Not just any kind of practice, perfect practice that is consistent. If you play a different fingering each time you play the same scale it can make learning the pattern harder. it's like you are always doing something different to get the same result! This slows the guitar learning process. I will give you effective le
arning practices to begin to accelerate your guitar playing skills! Everyone wants to express themselves with ease and practicing the patterns of guitar "language" is the key!

I began teaching at my hometown of Lake Ronkonkoma Long Island NY back in 2004. Since then, I have also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My dual major of Professional Music ( self directed major where I studied guitar, bass, piano, drum set, percussion, song writing and music business) and Music Production and Engineering.

I have played in professionally in several bands including my band Stealing Earth and the Ludmila Stefanikova Quintet touring Europe on electric guitar.

My Music Engineering degree has brought me to work in the studio and live venue settings. I am the former house sound engineer of the famous listening venue Lizard Lounge Cambridge, MA, working closely with resident artists, Club d'Elf, Dennis Brennan Band and MC Kabir. I've also had the pleasure of engineering in several studios including the studio of Susan Rogers who was Prince's sound engineer and one of my teachers. I have also engineered the band Kung Fu at Jungle Jam, Best Fest and Mike Love at Envision Festival in Costa Rica.

I specialize in Roots, Rock, Reggae, Afro-Cuban and R&B. I also can play funk, classical, jazz and slide guitar.

Whether you are just starting out, want to try a new style, want recording or song writing tips or just want to learn to have a zen guitar practice, I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience!

Hi! I'm John. I've been taking guitar lessons for about ten years. Music is a very important part of my life, and the guitar is a beautiful instrument that brings me closer to it.

Although there are certainly many technical aspects of teaching guitar, it is so important to allow a student's natural creativity to show through as well as to adapt to their learning abilities and the path that they want to take in getting to know the instrument. There are no right or wrong ways to become familiar with playing the guitar, and I have always encouraged students to take the approach of their choice and explore genres and techniques that they are interested in. Passion for guitar playing is something that naturally grows, and I always do everything in my ability to nurture that enthusiasm and guide students along its paths.

About John Law
Hi! I'm John. Watching someone's passion for playing guitar grow is amazing to watch, and I will do everything I can to guide you on your journey. The beginning stages of learning to play the guitar are perhaps the most exciting. Practice is key, but there are so many ways you can practice, whether learning the chords of songs you like or simply improvising and experimenting.

As a musician as well as a teacher, I've learned that learning the fundamentals of guitar playing is a great way to build a base for future artistic expression and aspiring musicians. Of course, there are many reasons why students want to learn to play the guitar, all of them valid, and whatever your personal aims are in picking up the guitar I will be right there with you the whole time.
