I teach the very basics in playing the classical guitar such as how to hold the guitar, correct finger placement, picking and strumming techniques, learning notes on the guitar, reading tablature, guitar scales, music theory, and learning to play simple classical songs. I have been playing the guitar since I was 10 years old and have had a great deal of experience playing all genres of music including Classical music.

After 20 years of playing and a BA in Music, I know how to break down the guitar and teach it to anyone willing to learn. I take the 80/20 approach to learning guitar and will get you up and playing in no time. Classical guitar is my first love and what brought me into the world of music. I began teaching in 2006 and have continually sought to improve my teaching over the years. When learning classical guitar (or any instrument) there are many approaches. Ideally, I believe that it is best for students to learn all of the keys to playing (physical technique, musical understand, a sense a rhythm and collaborative abilities and much more) before they jump into learning lots of pieces.

I want to make sure that you get all of the key elements to play the way that you want, but I know that you want to learn guitar because of the music! So even if you've never played an instrument before, it's my goal to have you playing music in the first lesson. as a student of classical guitar, you will learn about posture and technique in order to be comfortable while playing. material will be given each week and will be graded from beginner to advanced to ensure a strong base to build from.
students will also learn about music theory, as it applies to your current piece of music.
