My method is to teach in a way where the student can develop their own style while learning the basics of theory and technique. Depending on the skill level the student is currently comfortable with will determine where we will start. I like to make sure my students understand the first position of the instrument before moving on. We will learn this position by playing songs and developing a unique playing style for the student. From there we will move up the instrument learning about chord progressions and how they are arranged on the instrument.

About Dylan

I am a passionate multi instrumentalist who has played in many musical groups throughout my 29 years. I grew up in a musical house hold where all styles of music were played. I play the Guitar, banjo, piano, bass, and drums. I have a degree in music and a real passion for teaching musicians of all

Take guitar lessons from a professional touring and studio guitarist.

Hi, I'm Derek. I have a degree in classical guitar. I've taught guitar for over 14 years. I've played guitar for over 80 bands or artists, 28 of whom are major-label artists, including Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and Jake Owen to name a few. I've had the honor of living my dream. I now live in Bend, Oregon and perform with Precious Byrd. I'm offering guitar lessons to students in Bend and Redmond, Oregon and also online via Skype. I would be honored to teach you what I've learned over a lifetime of being a student myself and of real-life experience with the guitar.

About Derek

"A Nashville-native & music industry professional with a big heart for teaching" I LOVE teaching music and especially being a guitar teacher! My entire life has revolved around learning, teaching guitar lessons and performing music. I've played guitar for over 80 bands in Nashville, including 28

Derek is a fantastic guitar teacher. His approach to teaching is so different than other instructors I've worked with in that he really caters to the needs of his students and adjusts his teaching style accordingly. I've seen so much growth in my own playing. Definitely the best guitar teacher ever.
Steven
Highly recommend! I initially only began with the idea of taking 1 month of lessons and now I'm in my 3rd month! Derek caters the lessons to meet my needs- I'm a tactile learner, and he approaches teaching guitar to me from that standpoint. I would highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.
Todd
I had been playing for about 4 years and couldn't really get past a certain point with my guitar skills. I had kinda hit one plateau after another. Derek took my guitar playing to another level. The way he explains the guitar and music is simple but pretty eye opening.

If you're in Bend, I would highly recommend Derek for guitar lessons.

"I have been trying to master an instrument forever. By that i mean guitar or piano since age 12. In my first five lessons I have made more progress than in all those years. I admit that the demands of everyday life can get in the way of my goal of being a musician, but Keith has brought me so very far.His empathy and professionalism has helped me to begin to overcome performance anxiety. His support has been priceless!!"

"I moved to San Diego for a few months for work and decided while I was there I would start to learn classical guitar. By luck or aligning of the stars or whatever you want to call it I found Francesca as an instructor. When it came time for my first lesson, and first time playing a guitar, I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. With that first hug and incredible positive attitude all worries shed away. I walked away from every lesson feeling like I had really learned something because you can tell she has a genuine desire to teach people. I'm really going to miss our weekly lessons but I walked away with a lifelong desire to play the guitar and a lifelong friend."

"My daughter has been taking lessons with Mark for a little over a year. She has learned songs she likes and Mark helps build her abilities and confidence. In her words: Mark plays along with you and tells you what you’re doing well and what can be improved. He gives good tips about how to work on what you need to improve. He recommends songs to play but also asks what songs you want to play."

"Ahmad is no doubt one of the most humble, approachable, and skillful guitar teacher you can find around the bay area. I have been studying with Ahmad for the past 3 and a half months. Ahmad was not the first music instructor I had. He is however, the best one so far by a large margin. Since the first lesson Ahmad has been extremely professional and organized in his teaching methods. He is able to quickly identify my strengths and weaknesses as a player, tailor his lessons to fit my capabilities, and help me improve in great effectiveness.

I took lessons once a week with Ahmad, and every week I could see noticeable improvements because Ahmad assigned me homework that was fun and challenging but never frustrating. But beyond this, not only have I become a more skilled guitar player, through Ahmad's help I was also able to apply a lot of the theoretical music knowledge in other aspects. When I hear a piece of music, I find that I am slowly able to identify parts of the music, break it down into logical steps, and connect the music to the fretboard of the guitar.

I am a college student with a busy schedule both on and off work, but with Ahmad I was able to greatly improve nonetheless. Thank you Ahmad, I really look forward to coming back to the Bay Area and be your student again."
