About Scott

Hi! I'm Scott. I perform with a one-man band setup I created which utilizes a modified guitar and home-made foot pedals to control a drum set, while I sing on top of it all. I have a recording studio at home, and have performed with bands as a singer, guitarist, saxophonist, bassist, percussionist, and as a sound engineer. I've written, performed and recorded my own album which made it to the 2nd round of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, and was a voting member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Committee and NARAS (National Association or the Recording Arts and Sciences.) I started piano lessons from age 5 and just kept picking up more instruments and gear as I got older and never stopped learning or enjoying it!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching Guitars, Basses, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Music Production, Re

cording, and Live Sound for 16 years.

I can teach you note-reading, tabs, ear training, music theory, composition, improvisation in just about any style of music.

Working with people writing songs is something I enjoy thoroughly; I can help you write and record your own songs. A computer and internet access are preferred to take full advantage of the technology for learning and producing music.

Knowledgeable in Instrument repair, set-up, and maintenance, I can help you fix it, and how to spot a good instrument.

Patient and experienced, with a broad knowledge of music in most areas, I can give you hundreds of good references from previous students I've taught over the years

*** Studio Equipment ***

Guitars, basses, percussion and drum sets, a piano, saxophones, hand drums, a 20-track digital recording studio with monitors that are equalized to the room's acoustics for accurate listening and mixing, plus an assortment of microphones, amps, mic stands, cables, and connectors.

About Ray

Hello!

My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.

I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.

I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy.

*** Lesson Details ***
My music lessons are unique for three main reasons:

1. I h

ave a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.

2. I have devoted considerable amounts of time and energy studying neuroscience, which has greatly improved my understanding of the learning process.

3. I have been blessed with the tremendous amount of patience necessary to guide a student through the necessary steps it takes to learn at whatever pace is optimal, in order to maximize the efficiency of the learning process for each individual.

*** Equipment ***
Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.

*** Specialties ***
Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to listen to, study, and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy, for example, learning their favorite songs from the radio.

My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.

Thanks for checking out my profile! Please contact me with any additional questions you may have, as well as to inquire about day/time availability. I'll do my best to get back to you right away (usually within a few hours).

My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. She loves going to Ray because he teaches her to play the songs that she likes. Now she plays so many songs for memory!! My son loves going to piano and is always excited to see Ray.

About Tomasz

Hi! My name is Tomasz Kowalczyk, a percussionist based in Sarasota, FL. I started playing 20 years ago and since then I have been able to share with people my passion and love for music both as a teacher and performer. I have performed in some world's most prestigious concert halls, and I am currently serving as the Principal Percussionist of the Sarasota Orchestra.
My goal as a teacher is to give you all the technical tools you need to play with a sense of ease and flow, as well as to inspire you to make your own informed musical choices, grounded in a strong understanding of the music.
The percussion family of instruments consists of many different instruments, from drumset, through marimba, timpani and a whole lot more. I am very much well-rounded on all of those instruments, so I can easily focus on one instrument that you particula

rly like, or we can cover them all as we go. I cannot wait to start working with you!

Equally passionate about education, he taught in the Fort Bend, and Katy Independent School Districts in Texas as a private teacher and master class clinician and he currently teaches all levels of percussion and drumset students privately and remotely in Sarasota, FL.

Mr. Kowalczyk holds degrees from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, Boston University, Curtis Institute of Music and Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. His past and present teachers include: Alan Abel, Timothy Genis, Don Liuzzi, Matt Strauss, David Skidmore, Robert van Sice and Svetoslav Stoyanov.

Tomasz was my teacher for close to a year. He was able to get me into the art highschool I was applying to. He helped me improve as a percussionist and taught me the value of working hard. My skill and love for percussion improved so much under his teaching. You couldn't ask for a better teacher.

"Great Teacher!

Andrew Brown is a great teacher! I didn't have any music experience when I signed up for my first class, but he was extremely patient and
despite a lack of natural rhythm I learned a lot in every session. Most lessons would incorporate exercises, learning a new beat or technique, learning a song by reading music and learning a song by listening to it. I was never bored during one of his classes as the material was always challenging enough to keep my focus, but not too hard to make me feel frustrated.

I would recommend Andrew Brown to anyone who wants to learn the drums! He's a great teacher and a really nice person!"

"Matthew is a caring attentive teacher. Both of our sons are thriving with their drum lessons through his teaching. Thank you Matthew!"
