Drum Lessons in Newport News. Amazing Teachers.

I've been teaching drum set for 5 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to properly hold a pair of sticks and as time goes on you'll be able to effectively keep time, and play along to songs. I specialize in rock, fuck, pop, and blues drumming. In my lessons I typically us the instructional books Syncopation by Ted Reed and the Drummer's Bible by Mick Berry. At lessons I have two drum sets, drum pads, sticks, brushes, music stands, and various drum books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and am excited to teach.

Andrew has studied drums for nearly his entire life with some of the best musicians in the country. He offers lessons in everything from marching snare drum to orchestral music to drum set.

I have been drumming for over 15 years and teaching them for almost 10. I have performed and taught Rock, Jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Disco, and more.

Depending of the student's level, I am able to give the appropriate tips and information and customize the lessons for each particular case.
My lessons are very dynamic and are oriented to keep the students very motivated.

We will develop solid time, technique, reading, and rudiments. To foster musicality we will focus on critical listening . We will focus on effective practicing to maximize our efforts. We will learn to apply rudiments and stickings around the drums for interesting and dynamic fills. We will play together to focus on listening and ensemble skills. We also have the ability to record our lessons for later review.

Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.

I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.

I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!)
