Find the voice of any drum and make it sing. Students of every level benefit from rhythmic breath and speaking the words of the rhythms. Beginners will find the sounds of the drum, learn the language used to explain patterns, and quickly memorize rhythms by name. Everybody learns differently, we will write, speak, feel, or clown around until you fully grasp the rhythm. Intermediate and advanced students will benefit from a variety of techniques from around the world to employ to make even familiar patterns sound fresh.

About Peter
I am a student of various great drum teachers from many backgrounds. Experienced players enjoy jamming with me, but I have been told that I am especially gifted at helping beginners feel comfortable finding rhythms and sounds out of any instrument, including the human body. Rhythmic breathing is made simple and encouraged from the start. Tones and drum patterns can be explained verbally or written mathematically. Students remember the patterns forever, as well as gaining comfort in playing with other drummers or instruments. Odd time signatures or complicated songs can be tackled and easily learned. Use any drum or percussion instrument you have! Recordings are encouraged if you like!

Peter grew up in Chicago, raised to love soulful music. A graduate of Northwestern University's Performance Studies program with a focus on Theatre and
Media Arts, Public Speaking, and Ethnology. Designing percussion for stage and dance lead to studies and teaching of North and West African, Middle Eastern drum, Caribbean/South American and Asian drum and percussion rhythms. First hand experience has been gained by living in Morocco and South Korea for nearly a year each, studying and documenting folk music.

I have over 13 years experience teaching people of all ages from 6 to 60 years of age. Some of my teaching included at a local music school/store as well as a national music studio. I am very good at starting first time drummers out on the right path for learning to play the drums. I teach my different styles and concepts. I am very patient and understanding when it comes to teaching. I am very focused on keeping lessons fun.

About David
David graduated from the Phillips Jr. College in Salt Lake City, UT to receive an Associates degree in 1994 for Business Management. He began playing drums at seventeen, and soon after studied under a professional instructor and musician for 2 years. He continued to study at Brighton Music for 4 years, learning to fine tune his technique and dynamics, studying jazz. Soon after, David began performing professionally in bands for rock, pop and Jazz, and started teaching part time. In 2004, David began teaching privately and at a local music school. He offers rock, linear playing, shuffles, fusion drumming, double bass, funk drumming, Latin styles, jazz, independence, snare drum studies, and stick control. I teach all levels from beginning to advanced. I care about my students, and want the best for them. I will always try to keep lesson
s fun. I will not hesitate to go the extra mile for students when learning to play the drums, even if that means spending extra quality time with them.

Having performed jazz, funk, rock, pop, blues, and Brazilian fusion, among other genres, I use the fluidity between these inform each of my lessons. Whether a student is a beginner looking to play their favorite song on the radio, an intermediate looking for some rhythm theory to give them more options in their playing, or an advanced player looking for improvisatory techniques, I tailor each session to the desires of each student and their learning style.

About Daniel
I'm a gigging musician and teacher who graduated from Oberlin College in May 2015 with a degree in Musical Studies and Physics. I was on the Division III tennis team there for two years as well. I pride myself on patience and empathy no matter what I teach, whether it feeling the pulse of a complicated drum groove or solving a challenging physics word problem. For music lessons, I strive to bring in a context of genre fluidity and history, so that a student knows where and what to explore on their own even when I am not in the room to show them. Overall, my teaching is all about inspiring students to do well and make their strengths work for them, rather than dryly coming up with the "right answer" or playing a tune the "right way" to get from point A to point B.

I have over 10 years experience teaching drums to all different ages. I received the “Outstanding Youth Advocate” award from Berklee College of Music's Community Affairs Dept. in 2014 for teaching at the Boys&Girls Club in Allston, MA. I perform a lot around the northeast U.S., spanning a diverse spectrum of styles.

If desired, I can teach out of several books - including Garwood Whaley - Musical Studies for Intermediate Snare Drummer, Charley Wilcoxon - The All-American Drummer: 150 Rudimental Solos, Charles Dowd - Funky Primer for the Rock Drummer, and Tommy Igoe - Groove Essentials 1.0+2.0

Or I can teach without any books as I have a wealth of knowledge in me!

I teach rudiments, hand+foot techniques, coordination exercises, grooves - stemming from rock to funk to jazz, bossa nova, samba, west african, and much more.

About Josh
Hi, my name is Josh Weinberg. I have over 10 years experience teaching drums & about 5 years experience teaching music production, & music theory (to all different ages). We were thrilled with Josh! Our son really enjoyed his lessons and improved significantly working with him for the last year. Josh is a motivational teacher - our son WANTED to practice each day and that is because of Josh's inspiration and modeling what it takes to be a great drummer. Our son gained both the confidence and ability to audition for an make it into 3 high school bands this year. He couldn't have done it without Josh. He's a terrific percussion teacher and a great guy!

Josh is the absolute most attentive music teacher any of my kids have ever had. He spoke with my son in a manner that was welcoming, understandable and patient! No temperament at all. He praised at the right times to encourage my son and quickly corrected issues. The lesson continued without breaks for the whole hour plus, but seemed like 15 minutes. I was incredibly impressed and also had a very entertaining time as I learned about drums in the process. Also, my son has ADHD. I thought my son would have trouble focusing. But with Josh's innate ability to work with him, the ADHD never was an issue. I would totally recommend Josh to anyone wanting to learn drums. Absolutely great session. Also, getting a sampling of his drumming skills was so very cool to see.

Teaching students how to play with bands and read music are both important. I've played over 27 years and taught over 17 of those years. Grooves, coordination, reading and soloing are all aspects of what I teach from mostly my own books. I combine having fun with the commitment of practicing into a well rounded learning experience. I have recitals for students to show off their talents 1-2 times yearly. I'm versatile in teaching new drummers or advanced students. I look forward to our lessons.

About Danny
I've played drums over 28 years and taught lessons over 18 of those years. I have a background in Drumset soloing, marching band, rock bands and Troopers drum corps. Also playing in jazz, concert and orchestra bands gave me opportunity to perform and compete many places including P.A.S., scoring a 1 @ state and G.C. drum off. I took private lessons for a few years before leaving to college in Hollywood, CA, attending M.I.(Musicians Institute). With one of my instructors becoming the current drummer for Korn, "Ray Luzier". I now teach mostly out of my own books on how to read music, coordination, grooves, soloing and playing with bands. I have 1-2 recitals each year and prefer in-person lessons. If you are not local, I offer online lessons too. Accepting beginner to advanced drummers, come check it out.

Danny is the best Drum teacher I have ever met. He is super patient and can get the kids playing really well. He did so good with one of my kids that I added another one and they both love playing the drums. Also his recitals are great and it gets the kids a chance to perform on a stage with an audience. I highly recommend Danny as a drum teacher.

Ani is a wonderful teacher! I have always wanted to learn to play the Piano. But, it was my daughter who first started learning with Ani. It was evident that Ani is a higly skilled pianist. And I saw how much my child enjoyed the lessons, the easy rapport that was established and the wealth of knowledge that Ani brings. Needless to say, I signed up too! My daughter and I love our lessons and look forward to the class each week.

Ani is an amazing instructor. It is clear that she cares very much about her profession. I signed up for voice lessons, and she has been teaching me to read music and play the piano because it all ties together. She is also getting me to a point of independence so that I can practice at home with ease. I just love how peaceful and non-judge-mental she is... I have learned lots and I am very happy I found her :)!

Whether they want to cover a specific style, develop a solo or just know the basics of the instrument, I am here to provide the stepping stones for success. In lessons we can cover anything that you want to learn and most importantly we are just going to have some fun playing the drums.

I took weekly lessons from Eric for over 4 years. I had very little experience playing the drums, but a lot of desire to learn. I couldn't have chosen a better instructor than Eric.
He taught me how to read music, and always wrote out practice drills which really helped me in learning the overall lessons. Eric is extremely perceptive, and can immediately recognize what his students do well and wrong. By isolating specific parts of the lesson that causes difficulty, Eric creates drills that make learning the new part easier and more fun.
He will also play the part for you to give you an idea of how it should sound.
Because of Eric, I have learned numerous styles of drumming and the principles behind them.
Eric is a cool guy with an easy going personality, but he will always challenge you to do your best.
I strongly recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to play the drums.

I started off taking drum set lessons with Eric a little less than a year ago with almost no experience with percussion besides a basic understanding of music theory and little bit of practice with rudiments. When I started off, I could barely keep a beat and now I'm learning some really awesome Jazz patterns hoping to get into Lane Tech's Jazz band next year. The lessons usually go with review and/or a show-of-progress with the prior weeks material and then we know whether or not we should keep practicing the material or move on. If I've got it down then well move on to some new groves which he will write out for me and then show me how they sound and give me some tips for practicing the grooves for the week. I honestly have to say that Eric has been really motivating and encouraged me to keep practicing and I know I've made a lot of progress.

It's my firm belief that one of the most important parts of playing music is the ability to help someone improve, and there is nothing more heart-warming then the moment when a student reaches a goal they thought was impossible. I've always looked to my mentors to help guide me through my music career and it's my pleasure to pass that information on.

Music is great fun, and also helps form great habits and life skills. It's good for the brain, relieves stress, and teaches you how to improve and grow.

About Max
Max is a 21 year old drummer/multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and sound designer from the mountains of Colorado. He has been playing drums for over 12 years in addition to composing music for documentaries and short films such as the History of Naropa Anniversary video and in 2016, the Jamestown Flood Documentary. He is also an avid producer and has brought multiple full-length albums to fruition playing the majority of the instruments.

His performance experience spans a range of many shows and venues including The Fox Theatre in Boulder, Timpanist for the Boulder Symphony Orchestra, and several venues on the campus of Berklee College of Music where he studied Drum Set, Film Scoring, and Contemporary Writing and Production

Currently, Max is working remotely with two successful film composers: Nick Dolan, an award-winning
composer in Portland, Oregon with whom he will be working a full-length feature film in the Summer of 2016, and Penka Kouneva who has worked with clients including Sony/Columbia, DreamWorks/Paramount and Warner Bros.

Besides playing drums as a gun for hire in various bands and writing music, Max spends his time teaching, running an online production studio, and practicing his instruments. He also enjoys coffee, weightlifting, drawing, and spending time with his three dogs and family.
