I will help you understand the traditional, classical, pop, and Jazz harmonic/melodic writing rules for you to use in your own composition, songwriting, part-writing & arrangement.

About Eric
I began my partnership with takelessons in 2013 and have since taught over 6,000 **Voice, Singing, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Music Theory & Songwriting/Composition** lessons through this teaching platform. I teach many of my students in person at my creative and comfortable home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but I also am a highly experienced online music instructor (Takelessons Live, Skype, FaceTime and G+)

I have coached well-known musicians/celebrities, been an on-set tutor for feature films, and coached music hobbyists to have more fun! I work with many students in their audition preparation for high school/college/conservatory admission, casting calls for TV/Film, major tour auditions, industry showcases and studio recording sessions.

Every great performer needs a great coach, I will help you become your best!

Lead / Rhythm Guitar:

I've developed a step-by-step approach to learning to solo and improvise.
Using simple, "guitarist-friendly” techniques you will quickly learn and begin to apply major/minor scales/modes, blues/pentatonic scales and “licks.” You will learn triads, arpeggios, interval studies, and extensions and how to use them to create interesting and melodic solos. With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!

A few of techniques I teach:

∙ triads / arpeggios
∙ strumming
∙ alternate/sweep picking
∙ tremolo picking
∙ hybrid picking

∙ bending / double stops / unison bends
∙ whammy bar techniques
∙ diagonal scales,
∙ arpeggios & note groupings
∙ 3 and 4 finger per string scales
∙ fingerstyle
∙ Jazz scales, chords including
4 note open/closed voicing
7th, 9th, 11th, 13th chords
∙ chord melodies
∙ rhythm and grooves of various styles

Bass Guitar:

Right hand:
∙ finger style, pick
∙ slapping/popping
∙ groove, rhythms and playing time
∙ time signatures, walking bass lines,
∙ arpeggios, double stops,
∙ chords & improvising
∙ writing bass lines.

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)
∙ music theory & ear training
∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms)
∙ composition/songwriting

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."

(2) tube guitar amplifiers, and various guitar effects pedals.

Travel Equipment

Great teacher Eric started teaching my son at age 8 and within a couple of weeks he was on his way to being a rock star! A perform at the schools talent show playing a compilation of 8 rock songs Eric has a special way of teaching that make you understand the fundamentals guitar.

Eric is great and is a huge part of my growth as a singer. I've been taking lessons from him for years - initially we worked on exercises and the basics of placement and pitch, and have now moved on to applying it to different song styles. He's always up for whatever kind of music I want to do, and in even one lesson has helped make a huge difference in recreating the singing style of my favorite songs. Would highly recommend!

My teaching style is relaxed and supportive while always aiming to increase the knowledge of the student. My strong technical background combined with a deep sense for wide-ranging musical styles allows me to find what inspires a student initially, and use their interests and strengths to lead them to new discovery and technical efficiency.

Private study covers technical aspects of the instrument, including body awareness as well as reading, theory and musical expression and improvisation.

While each individual learns at a different pace, I strive to point out the progress my students have made because I find this recognition of achievement, no matter how small, is essential in a student's continued love of studying music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
lessons in dedicated music room with all instruments and equipment; upright piano, drum set and percussion.

Danilo is a really great drum teacher. Challenging, but also meets you at what ever level you're at. When limbs don't know how to rally together for a new thing, he's a very good cheerleader until it comes together or helps make it make sense to break through that wall. Enjoys good music too. Super recommend.

Let me show you how to bring your songs to life!

I found Gary by chance, but not by accident. Music had been absent from my life for over a decade by the time I met Gary. To say he understands my soul is an understatement. Gary is no ordinary music instructor. He possess a gift for teaching something more than the technicalities of theory and notes. His style is unique and personalized partially due to his incredible life experience in the music industry but more so due to his keen intuition, talent, and true love of helping a musician reach their full potential. I highly recommend Gary to all those who desire to fulfill their musical dreams, whatever they may be. Gary will guide you on your musical journey.

Writing songs is not as difficult as it may seem. I have guided many students through the process. It is truly a fun and creative time for both student and teacher.
Some familiarity with harmonic and rhythmic concepts, as well as some analytic terminology is necessary to get the ideas out of your head and into the air. I like to start by analyzing the songs of others and discussing them. Then we get down to the brass tacks and talk about the song as if it were no different than the blueprint of a building.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

I hold a B.M. degree in Composition from Berklee College of Music. I have also composed nearly a thousand songs -- in many genres and group settings -- in my lifetime and I have decades of experience teaching composition and arranging to many, many songwriters from all styles and levels. With my education and experience, I can help you create your best work and have fund doing it.

About Stan
Hi! I am a private music instructor offering lessons both in-studio and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music Degree from Berklee College of Music, where I graduated Summa cum Laude, and I have over 36 years' full-time experience as an instructor.

I also have over four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages to churches, as well as television studios, radio stations, and many recording studios.

Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.

**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****

My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and results.

I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Ea
ch lesson is customized to make the most of each student's own unique abilities, limitations, preferences, and interests. Whether students prefer, or do better with, traditional materials, playing/singing along with their favorite recordings, improvisation, or anything in between, I am more than happy to accommodate and bring out each student’s best!

I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on the Beatles One album ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.

**** MY STUDIO ****

My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummers going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.

**** STYLES / GENRES ****

I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.

My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged!

**** MY STUDENTS ****

Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.

Do you have a song or two in your heart? Contact me today and I will help you reach your musical goals and have a very good time doing it!

Eddie is a phenomenal guitarist, and an amazing teacher. He really conveys the lessons well and his knowledge of the craft is extensive. It only allows a maximum of 5 starts up there but take it from me, I’d give Eddie 10/10. Would recommend for sure.

Edward has really brought me over the hump musically and made me into the musician I am today enough so where now I'm comfortable enough to play solo gigs. A very thorough teacher with a laid back agreeable personality, works well in many genres and techniques.
