This teacher did not pay close attention as I explained by goals, which resulted in a lesson that was not aligned with my goals for drumming. I would recommend searching for a different teacher if you have specific goals. This teacher either did not understand what I was explaining or not able to translate make goals into specific practice routines.

In my lessons I strive to make the maximum progress possible, while also having as much fun as possible. This is accomplished by imparting the most valuable, useful, and beneficial information in a fun and relaxed, low pressure environment, always with the students goals and priorities first and foremost. I also like to keep the student challenged at their current ability level.

For beginning students I stress basic fundamentals, just as you would in sports. It makes progress come at a much faster clip and avoids making time consuming corrections later. The longer you play with bad habits, the harder they are to break.

For more advanced students, I assess their current abilities, determine if any problems need to be addressed, and with their goals in mind, come up with the proper plan of action.

Having been self taught till entering college I understand all ends of the spectrum. In my career I have come across three separate groups of musicians:

About Ed
Hi, My name is Ed and listed in the different sections of this page are: a very brief bio, an explanation of my approach, and a description of what I and my studio have to offer. I am extremely enthusiastic and passionate about what I do, and being able to pass that on is a joy. Please read on, and I hope to hear from you soon!

I have 16 years teaching experience as well as extensive playing and touring experience in all styles and genres, which gives me the insight to know what is most important for really playing the instrument.
I attended Bucks County Community College and West Chester University. I also studied privately with
Ken Miller (Philly Pops Orchestra tympanist), John Alberti and Martin Bradfield.

I am currently a member of The Chuck Anderson Trio on the Dreambox Media Label. I am also a member of five other bands an
d freelance and record with many others...everyone from former members of Bon Jovi, to Marvin Hamlisch, and some completely unexpected names like Joe Frazier And The Knockouts. Yes, I know, that's pretty amusing, and Joe couldn't sing...but I wasn't going to tell him!

I have an extensive collection of books and videos that I draw from for my students, and to personally improve at my craft. This is not a sideline, or part-time job for me...this is my life, and my career!

Having been self taught till entering college I understand all ends of the spectrum. In my career I have come across three separate groups of musicians:

1) Those who have good ears, but can't read.
2) Those who read well, but can't play without music in front of them.
3) Those with great ears who also read well.

Number 3 is obviously the best of all possible worlds and what I strive to achieve with all my students. Being accomplished in both areas enables them to be prepared for anything they will come across, and gives them a distinct advantage over their peers.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a state of the art drum studio, beyond anything else I have ever seen, with everything from a top of the line V-Drum kit (electronic drums) and several acoustic sets that I rotate occasionally to keep interest level high. As opposed to many stores, schools and homes...there are no sax players in the next studio, no guitars blaring, no kids running around, no distractions! We only hear what we want to hear! It's so much easier to maintain focus on the task at hand.

One of the pluses of the electronic set is when a student is playing along with music, we can just plug an iPod, Kindle, whatever, into the system, dial in the perfect matching volume between music and drums...and not go deaf. No muss, no fuss, no headphones needed, unless the student wants them...I have plenty.

I am in my own building, so unlike many of the shoebox sized studios i have worked in, I have a lot of space (17'x22'), a waiting area for parents, and since it's one open area, if parents come in the building they are sitting in on the lesson. There is ample parking and I am conveniently located near a major intersection, and right next to a major shopping center (Wal-Mart, Staples. Weiss Supermarket, Pep Boys, etc.). In fact many parents go shopping while their children are taking their lessons. Some even walk! I'm that close.

I am also a Certified Plus drum dealer, so if students need some equipment, we can usually handle that too.

*** Specialties ***
I adapt my style to each student and usually hand write everything for quite awhile. There's a lot to cover and it enables me to break from standard procedure when beneficial. I play and teach all styles and genres, so I feel comfortable with pretty much everything.
I use numerous books for many different purposes well beyond the scope of what's listed below.

My son has been taking lessons with Ed since he was 5. Ed was very patient dealing with a high energy child who had a limited attention span. Eight years later, we are still seeing Ed weekly for lessons and my son has turned into a well-rounded musician. Ed tailors the lessons to my son's musical interests and takes an interest in what is going on in his life.

We have gone to see Ed perform in several venues and he always takes the time to talk to us during his break. I highly recommend Drum Lessons with Ed for those at any skill level.

Able to teach hand percussion(Congas, Bongos, Djembe, etc.) to full drum kit. Also can teach drum notation. All genres. Full drum kit supplied when lessons are performed in teacher's studio.

About Nicole
Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums.
As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State Sch
ool Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master€'s degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music.
Nicole now resides in Tampa, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the drummer for a local original Soul/Rock band. Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Full Service music room: Keyboard, Full drum kit, Electric Guitar with 30 watts Amp and Microphone/ vocal monitor.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a 76 key Yahama YPG-235 Keyboard for your household to use for lessons for a small monthly rental fee. I have an Epiphone Electric Guitar with 30w amplifier. Will also bring microphone and monitor for vocal lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I have taught mostly Rock, Blues, and Classical genres for Piano, Guitar, Drums. Vocally, I specialize in R&B, Broadway, Pop, Top 100 and alternative/Hard Rock. I will adapt to your needs.

About Michael C.

Students will learn to play basic rudiments and rhythmic movement while performing familiar songs on the instrument.

About Michael
Michael C. was eleven years old when he began to play the electric bass guitar. He decided to get an electric bass because it was the one instrument needed to start a band among his friends. In addition to playing the electric bass, Michael enjoyed time practicing on the guitar and piano in high school. Transferring the knowledge and finger technique to the guitar came easy because of the similarities between guitar and the bass. And growing up with an upright piano in the house always lead to tinkering and eventually became a proficiency after college. In 1996 Michael enrolled at the the Philadelphia University of the Arts. He was awarded a presidential merit scholarship and a university grant based on his entrance audition. During his studies Michael was recruited for a student ensemble also know as Metagroove. During this time Michael
had shared stages with guitarist John Scofield, Singer Ike Willis (Frank Zappa Band), Medeski Martin and Wood and The Disco Biscuits among countless others.

Michael has completed a Master of Arts in music education as well as Bachelor of Music in bass performance. Michael is qualified to teach on bass, upright bass, guitar, drums, piano, voice and a rare instrument called steel pan (steel drum) among others. Michael performs as a freelance musician. He can be found performing regularly at private parties and events around the greater Philadelphia area. He has performed playing most styles and genres of music. Among these styles are Pop, R & B, Blues, Hip Hop, Jazz, Calypso, Flamenco, Latin, Pop, Musical Theater and Rock & Roll.

Michael is a trained professional and prefers to cater his lessons to the individual need of each student. He believes that each student is unique and will encounter challenges in their own manner. Michael likes to supplement his lessons using musical interests of the student. C. has been known to arrange popular pieces for recital performances for his students. Some of the pieces he has arranged for his students include Something in the Way She Moves (Beetles), Long distance Run Around (The Who), Iron Man (Black Sabbath), That' €™s What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction), Hall of Fame (The Script) among many more. Michael encourages his students to use the music they love to challenge their ability and cognitive processes. Michael has the experience and training required to inspire and motivate you to become successful not only in music but in your daily endeavors.

*** Lesson Details ***
Michael has over twelve years experience teaching music and chooses to cater his lessons to the goals of his clients. He does not follow a set curriculum because different students tend to have different goals and expectations.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Logic Pro X, Reason, Fast Track pro audio, Double Bass, Piano, Rhodes Electric Piano, Acoustic guitar, Electric Guitar, Flute, Sax, Clarinet, trumpet, Electric basses, Steel Pans (drums), etc.

Audio recordings of each lesson are free of charge and available upon request. C. is capable of creating demos and audio recordings as well as audio production of original material.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Laptop, Guitars, PA system, Basses, Metronome, Method Books, etc.

*** Specialties ***
Steel Pan lessons are available. Access to a steel pan(drum) is a requirement for this specialty.

Do you have two left arms and two left feet (or two rights of each if you're left-handed), and have no idea how to coordinate behind your drumset?

Do you want to be able to accurately listen to a song and "play it" on your steering wheel as you drive?

Do you constantly have trouble maintaining speed, slowing down or speeding up for no reason?

How about wanting to go all-out and learning those crazy double-bass parts and snare rolls popular in today's extreme metal?

I require a practice pad for lessons to learn rudiments and coordination techniques, even if it's just a mouse pad taped to a heavy book to start with. If you continue taking lessons, I can recommend the best practice pad for you.

I typically will teach and write drums using a combination of tablature and standard sheet music. Tablature a simple set of lines and X marks that are much easier to read, and once learned will instantly give you access to thousands of songs.

You'll learn how to keep time with ...

About Nathan
Hello!

My name is Nathan, but you can also call me Nate or Nay.
I have played guitar, bass, and drums for over twenty years.
I also sing, play piano, and play several wind instruments.

I compose music, and I have been involved in numerous live performance bands and recording studio projects.

I am an ASCAP songwriter with a history of working part-time for an independent A&R company, and have a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies with a minor in web technology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

I studied music theory, composition, and technology in school, and continue to during my spare time. I have had a few years of guitar lessons under several teachers, including several months of classical guitar training with sight reading.

I am primarily involved in rock, pop, and heavy metal, but have exper
ience in many other genres.
I listen to and play all kinds of music!
Anything my students listen to or want to learn is fine by me!
Classical, soul, country, jazz, electronic, dance, etc...
I believe there's much to learn in all of them!

I've been giving private lessons since 2014. Before that I would teach bandmates and friends how to play songs (both original songs and covers), as well as instructing various techniques on instruments.

I do my best to demonstrate proper technique and posture to help eliminate bad habits that lead to discomfort and potential injury. Let's get you comfortable, you'll enjoy your instrument much more!

I have even shown tricks and tips to persons that have played for decades more than myself, wishing they knew the correct way at first to prevent surgeries and rehabilitation.

I will gladly help you maintain your instrument and can do repairs to almost anything regarding drums/guitar/bass, saving you money from costly repair shops!

If you are interested in recording, I can demonstrate how to use various programs to both record and edit songs, then how to mix and master them. I can teach you how to get a "recording musician" mindset, and how to work and perform in a studio environment.

I'll also give tips on playing on stage, working from local gigs all the way to the professional level.

I enjoy teaching in a way to help other players love their instruments. I believe the first goal is to give it your own voice, and then continue to gain the expressive means to make it an extension of your mind and body. I will encourage you to grow your roots as you see fit.

If you stay interested, the instrument will grow with you, and continue to be a companion as long as you come back to it.

There's no embarrassment in being coached how to crawl, fall, and then walk before learning how to run.
Your goals will be self-discipline, resisting hesitation, and finding the will to tread the paths to improvement.

However, you ultimately need to have fun to stay on path! I tend to laugh a lot when I teach and encourage you to do so as well. Laughing relieves our daily stress and associates positive attitude towards your instrument.
We all make countless mistakes every day, but playing a wrong note should just feel silly, not bring you anger or frustration.

If you become flustered at a song, it's probably not important to flawlessly master it this minute.
So unless you have a gig or recital, we can come back another time!

I have a resume available. You can also request a sample outline/lesson plan in regards to your skill and instrument.

Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you soon!
-Nathan

I’m an adult learner and could not be more pleased with Nate as a teacher. His energy, talent, knowledge of all kinds of music and easy going, relaxed personality has made lessons fun and without stress. Nate prepares and goes out of his way to research and find things for me to learn and work on. He is able to come up with things on the fly that can benefit you while in the lesson. He communicates very well, and explains more complex things in a way you can understand them and if not…he’s very easy to talk to and I don’t’ feel embarrassed to as those “stupid” questions. He is able to help me with any kind of music whether it be the blues, country, rock and roll or heavy metal. With all that said, I would highly recommend Nate as a teacher for guitar for all ages.

I have over 30 years as a professional musician and studied under the best in my community. I perform with top level, award winning musicians and have toured US and Europe. As an instructor, I've churned out over 400 students over my 12 year teaching career. Many of my students tour with their own bands and or perform in their high school marching and jazz band. I work from industry standard material and include my own lesson strategy that's proved trident true over the course of my teaching career. I've won many awards and have been furthering my music education when I'm not touring or recording. I don't have any degrees but am considered one of the best drummers in Tucson. I've performed on stage and recordings with many well known drummers. A few to name, are Tommy Larkin's, Ed Shemanski and Winston Watson. I proficient teaching any style and have applied all styles into my repertoire while performing and recording. I teach drummers how to become a musician, not just a drummer. ...

About Alan
I'm a skilled professional musician/drum and vocal instructor. I've performed/recorded/toured for over 30 years. I've studied from the best in Arizona. I teach all ages and all are welcome. I'm able to provide special needs instruction, i.e. students with autism and learning disabilities. I provide students with technical skills, and teach students how to read music. I also teach students how to interpret their favorite artists and how to play their favorite songs.

Being a part of a students educational growth is very rewarding. I have current students who tour in bands in the United States and Canada. I also work with students who need help with material for middle and high school marching/jazz bands. My system as a drum/vocal instructor has been proven through the success of my students.

Aidan did a wonderful job helping my son learn percussion- several instruments. He is patient and empathetic, and great with even young kids. I appreciate that he tries to let the kids do things that are fun for them while still teaching the basics.
