Hello Students,
I have been playing most of my life. I started playing professionally at 17, playing with a number of professional bands playing all over Michigan. I have been teaching drum students since the age of 19, teaching well over 500 students to date.

Teaching students has been one of my passions with music. I hope to motivate my students to learn to play and love the drums as much as I do.

I work with each student on an individual basis to help them learn and understand drumming technique using books and techniques that will help to develop instinctive skills and ear technique.

I work with snare drum / rudimental technique with all my students and drum set technique, as most students want to learn how to play a drum set. Many of my students are in school band learning snare drum and percussion technique. Basic snare drum technique is important for any student to master and understand to learn to apply to snare drum and drum set technique.

I have been teaching for over 10 years, with experience in all levels (Beginner to Advanced) and in every age group. I am very passionate about teaching music, I believe it has the power to change lives, and also helps with just putting a smile on your face :)

I had a great experience with Noam. Each lesson had a structure as we explored various elements in each lesson covering a lot of ground. Noam is very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. Noam has the ability to take a complex concept and break it down until you grasp it completely. Each lesson was productive and enjoyable. Thank you Noam!

Noam is an excellent drum tutor!

He is so knowledgeable about the drums and passionate about sharing that knowledge. His lessons are well structured to make the most of the time available to practice existing skills and learn new techniques, as well as being fun!

He takes the time to really focus on your existing technique in order to iron out any bad habits and he breaks down new techniques in a simple and easy to learn manner.

Highly recommended!

I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

As an educator, I strive to provide my students with the tools that they will need to explore the direction that they want to take with their instrument. This can include from enjoying drumming as a hobby, performing in small jazz ensembles, recording electronic and acoustic drums in major recording studios, to performing with a full orchestra! There is literally no limit to what you can do.

My focus is to get hobbyists to enjoy performing drums in the comfort of their own home or with friends, and to have my professionally-minded students go out into the world of performing and recording music. All of these environments are where the ultimate joy of playing an instrument can be expressed.

As a gigging and studio musicians, I understand what it takes to get to the stage or studio, apply oneself in that environment, and come away with a satisfying experience that you can then build upon for the rest of your life.

Jim has been a fantastic teacher to our son. He explains everything patiently and approaches his lessons very systematically. He selects songs that incorporate essential drumming skills (e.g. songs that include doubles, paradiddles, accented notes, etc.). This way, the the student is able to develop an understanding of how theory fits practice.

"We moved to Atlanta this summer, looking out for a new drum teacher for our 10 year old son David. And there he is: absolutely smart, stunningly relaxed, ever so patient and polite and - most of all - so funny and inspiring while teaching my child! Just within these three months passed David has made such remarkable progress, playing many new rhythms and patterns, doing drum solos for minutes and improving his whole attitude. If you want a positive chemistry for your child's musical development I can fully recommend Casey as an instructor."

"These lessons were great. Regarding drums, I was an absolute beginner, and Tommy's lessons turned out to be an excellent jump-start. I used to play keyboards and guitars before, and I enjoy picking up by ear rather than reading notation, so I really liked informal and 'non-notational' way the lessons went. There was no hard notation drill, and yet Tommy had covered most rudiments, basic techniques, and patterns needed to rock in about 10 lessons. I'd recommend this for anyone who doesn't know how to hold sticks but want to get introduced into rock drumming."

"This is our first Drum instructor and we are thrilled with Thomas. He is patient, kind, and enthusiastic about teaching. His approach is positive in nature, meeting the student where they are at, takes their interest as the lead, and starts teaching there. My 11 year old son really likes him too! "Our son(11) is finally enthused, motivated, and excited to practice drumming. He is making consistent progress and takes initiative to practice on his own since we started lessons with Mike! Mike makes lessons fun and engaging by teaching the music our son loves and wants to learn. We were initially hesitant about online lessons, but Mike's sound and video quality are excellent and we have had no problems. We have had some scheduling conflicts (on our end) and Mike is flexible and communicative, and quick to respond. Five stars well earned!"

He is a great teacher and it is a privilege to take lessons from him!"

"Perfect Drum Teacher for a 6 year-old!

Mike is simply the perfect drum teacher for our high energy 6 year-old son! He has taken the time to get to know Annan and understand how to best teach him. As a result, he is able to push our kid to challenge himself, while still making it so fun that he doesn't want the lesson to end. Mike is also very organized, which makes it easy for the parents to understand what your child is supposed to be practicing throughout the week. He also gives exercises for practice that the kids actually want to do. As a result, Annan practices on his own and is often trying to push himself to do even a little more so that he can impress Mike at this next lesson. If you have a young son who is interested in drums, I can't think of a better teacher than Mike!"
