Highly recommend Ronen as a drum instructor! I recently started to take lessons for the first time at the age of 52. Ronen has made this experience so much fun. He is so knowledgeable, extremely patient and understanding. He balances each lesson with not only teaching technical skill but also the history of various drum techniques which makes it so interesting. He is a great teacher and it is a privilege to take lessons from him!

Hey folks, Ive been slamming my drums for about 20 years, I have a fun exciting approach to teaching. Sometimes it can be boring to get bogged down with rudiments and classic drum lesson material, Im not that kind of teacher. I have a back round in psychology as well as music, and I understand the importance making any subject exciting to the audience. So heres my approach laid out below in a few easy steps.

1. Ask you what music you love, and what are some songs you want to learn how to play.
2. While helping you to rock out to your favorite songs, like a pro, I will be assessing certain chops you need to work on.
3. Slowly work in some basic drum rudiment work, to help you play the songs you love even better, and add in some of your own flare.
4. Eventually have you perform one of your songs live in front of friends and family, if you feel up to it.
5. Continue to build your skills in an organic, fun, engaging , performance goal focused teaching method that I truly believe in.

James is a reliable instructor. He always meets at the scheduled time, and instructs with patience and persistence. Our son has been a student for 8 or 9 years now, and likes Jame's style of teaching. Our son has learned many techniques for playing drums, starting with simple beats. James is well liked and respected. For 11 years James instructed our oldest son on the drums. When the boys started showing an interest in piano, we bought a keyboard for them, and James started teaching them the basics of piano.
Currently James instructs our youngest son on drums and keyboards - rotating each week.
When our son wants to go over something he's been learning at school in his Advanced Keyboarding class, James has been a great help in this area!
Heather
My son has been taking drum lessons from James for a few years now and has grown so much in his love of music and his ability to play. He looks forward to his lesson every week. We are grateful to James for cultivating his passion.

"Mike is an exceptional teacher. I’ve been a teacher, my parents were both teachers, we pay a lot of tuition to put our children in schools with (theoretically) well-paid and highly qualified teachers: IOW, I am really picky about teachers! Mike is the epitome of patience and clearly devoted to music and instruction. He is professional and conscientious. He kept my son challenged, engaged, and motivated to practice and improve. Truly, Mike is the kind of teacher you wish populated every classroom."

"Mike's an awesome drum teacher. Every lesson is fun and well thought out. I've also thought that the pacing and structure is perfect. He takes you beyond learning HOW to play and teaches you WHEN and WHY to play the beats you're learning. Mike's a great drummer and a really fun guy to spend time with, I recommend his lessons!!"

"When my son's school mandated that all students learn an instrument and I found out that he had been assigned DRUMS, I was at a loss. The lessons provided by the school were basic and I didn't feel that my son was getting the full benefit of all the drums had to offer. Luckily, we found Mike!

Mike set my son at ease instantly. He is very personable and has the gift of getting to know his students in a genuine manner. His friendly demeanor and willingness to use humor, without talking down to his students, sets him apart. Mike took the time to get to know Tom, including his musical interests, so that he could create high-interest lessons that motivated my son to practice and increased his love of music. Mike was able to explain clearly to my son what they were doing, how to do it properly, and why doing it correctly was worth the time invested. Not having had experience with drums, I had no idea how much technique is involved! Mike provided not only drum lessons, but life lessons as well.

As a parent, I have always appreciated Mike's timely communication. I have never had to wonder when my son's lessons would be, when payment was due, or what to do when I had a scheduling conflict. (By the way, Mike understands the chaos that sometimes goes along with being a working parent.)

To sum things up, Mike is a charismatic teacher who uses his expertise to instruct his students in how to become exemplary musicians and people. I recommend him without reservations."

"Excellent drum teacher

I've been playing drums for almost 20 years - bands, tours and recording. I came to Keith to build speed, control and finesse and finally master some of the trickier hybrid rudiments. Keith developed an excellent program with achievable goals week to week and practical ways to apply new skills across the kit. Moving up a level seemed easy in the end - the sign of a quality teacher. Keith also identified and helped me to correct a technique flaw that was holding me back. I recommend Keith to drummers of all experience levels. Maybe one day he'll let me hit that signed, vintage ludwig BB snare too."

3 Hand-Eye Coordination Exercises for Drummers

Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate drummer, good hand-eye coordination will help you develop accuracy and control. Here are some tips from music teacher Tracy D., to help you improve your hand-eye coordination... When you're learning drums, you need to watch and sense where your hands are in relation to the kit. It's easy to let your hands outrun your field of vision, and this can result in sloppy execution. Pay attention to your hands; make sure they land in the right place, …
