About Noel B.
Close
I have been a drummer my whole life. I started at the age of six and have two degrees in percussion performance.
About Noel
My name is Noel B., and I am a musician living and working in New York City.
When teaching a new student I employ many different methods. To me, music is about playing with people. Its important to be able to play by yourself but there are things you just can't learn unless you play with people. I liken it to taking soccer lessons but never playing on a team. Also, its important to perform. All of my students are invited to perform at a venue with a grand piano that professional musicians in the city play. This really helps the students and I set goals, and achieve them. I also use some method books, theory and other things, but just making it about playing makes the lessons much much more fun and inspiring for the students.
I currently teach at two music schools apart from my Private studio. O
I hope to inspire others to pursue a musical life. No matter how serious and long, or short and light.
One of my ultimate goals in teaching is to help my students develop the skills and knowledge to not only be able to play well, but to also be able to teach themselves (and hopefully others in the future). Thank you for your time! Have a great day!

Noel has an extremely diverse background in much that goes well beyond the guitar - He's an awesome drummer as well. This made the lessons even more interesting since he could offer perspective from the drummer's point of view, stressing how important rhythm is to becoming a solid guitarist.
On top of everything else, one of the things I like the most about taking lessons with Noel is that sitting down with him is like sitting in on a jam session - a pretty cool feeling for someone who's somewhat new to music, but has always wanted to learn.

My teacher is amazing. A master professional in his musical field. He teaches like he's done it for decades, even though so young. I would dare to say he can teach with his eyes close. I love all his teaching techniques, from theory to scale, to practicing the Hanon Studies, to ear training and on. I like how he plays along with me while teaching me a new musical score. He completely dedicated to teaching his student and making sure his pupil is satisfied with his performance. He'll even help you with preparing you for an recital or musical event. He knows how. I highly recommend for teaching any pupil from age 3 to 92. He'll ask me what I want to do next, and then we look for scores that I can learn according to my level.. He's attention to your needs as a student and works around it. I always look forward to going to my next lesson and see how I improved and what's new score he's prepare for me to learn.

About Timothy H.

I have been playing drums for 15 years. I teach drum set up to an intermediate level, covering fundamentals, music theory, reading, and performance.
I prefer to work out of method books that take instructional material from well known pieces of music, primarily from the broad scope of the rock and roll genre. This ensures introduction and reinforcement of music fundamentals while maintaining the ever-important fun factor!
My goal is to take a beginner and create a capable drum set player who knows music fundamentals, and has been given a strong foundation for performance technique and capability.
About Timothy
During my time as a college student studying music, I began teaching guitar lessons. I found the work to be extremely rewarding. I was happy to be spreading a bit of love for music around, and I believe I made some lasting impressions. I continued to teach music lessons after I graduated, expanding to teach piano as well.
The more I taught, the more I found sincere joy in teaching. As I was was getting to know each of my students better, I realized that I was doing more than just teaching music lessons. I was acting as an example, a friend, and a counselor of sorts. I realized th
I teach guitar from beginner to advanced levels of performance, in many styles. I teach piano up to an intermediate level. I specialize in Jazz, Folk, Blues, Rock, Funk, and pretty much any contemporary style a student might be interested in learning. Although not my specialty, I am capable of teaching classical styles as well.
I am very excited to teach anyone interested in learning about the wonders of music, and I work with all ages.
*** Lesson Details ***
In my lessons, students can expect to have fun while learning. I am friendly, warm, personable, caring, patient, and fun. I strive to find the perfect balance between learning the important fundamentals of music, and just plain enjoying music. Music takes hard work, but music is supposed to be fun!
I am a laid back person, and I do not expect any strict formalities when interacting with students. I feel that the more comfortable a student is, the more easily that student can learn and have fun doing so. However, I do expect my students to thoroughly practice, to focus, and to strive to improve.
I tailor each lesson to a student's particular needs. Everyone learns and interprets music in different ways, so I strive to serve each of my students uniquely. From basic fundamentals to advanced techniques, I cover everything. I also give each student an opportunity to choose some music that they will enjoy learning.
My curriculum changes depending on the student's ability level, age, and instrument of choice. I typically use a method book for reinforcement of musical fundamentals, and a supplementary "project" piece of music that the student enjoys playing and learning. I do this so that my students can see direct connections between music fundamentals and playing music that they enjoy. My own personal knowledge and experience as a musician is always added to each lesson as well.
*** Travel Equipment ***
For guitar lessons, I provide my guitar and any equipment that the student may not have initially, like for example, their own guitar, or music stand. Piano students will need their own keyboard for the very first lesson. The student should eventually provide their own instrument and equipment, such as their own guitar, music stand, and copy of the selected method book; all of which are things that they will need in order to pursue practicing on their own time.
*** Specialties ***
I am capable of teaching using many methods, styles, and genres, depending on the student and their particular needs. However, I specialize in jazz, folk, and rock styles, as well as improvisation.

My basic approach is to foster the student in a relaxed but focused environment. Everyone has their own goals in mind when picking up the sticks. Whether you want to learn how to play your favorite song, brush up on your snare etudes or analyze an Elvin Jones solo, I am more than happy to offer guidance on your musical journey.
About Mike
I have been fortunate enough to have worked with some amazing teachers and musicians from all over the globe. I am more than willing to pass on what I have discovered.
I have taught beginners how to hold the sticks and play simple grooves, as well as shown seasoned veterans how to strengthen their foundation and overcome roadblocks to mastery.
I encourage my students to develop a solid foundation of technical skills (grip, body mechanics, reading, time, rudiments, styles/grooves) while finding their own voice on the instrument. Musical performance is a deeply personal experience, and I hope to guide you towards whatever goals you have in mind.

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's in Jazz Studies, and have been teaching private drum lessons for over a decade. My lessons are tailored to achieve YOUR goals, and I design a unique lesson plan to fit your learning style. I have experience working with every age group, and have even coached school ensembles, and given clinics about a variety of music topics.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I strongly believe that playing music should be nothing but pure joy. Learning to play the drums is simply the process of training your body and mind to better express yourself using rhythm and timbre. This process can vary greatly from person to person, and the end result is different for everyone. Although the process of learning anything can feel like a chore at times, I believe every moment of study should be designed to achieve your personal goals. The learning process should be fun, and easy to navigate. Playing music becomes more fun the better you get, and the path to

I've found that Adam is ready to meet you at your level and he has got me working on some basics (a reminder of just how sloppy my playing was/is) and I (think) I'm improving pretty rapidly and am starting to recognize things I hadn't noticed before. If there's an issue, it has been my erratic practice schedule. He has also been really flexible with respect to schedule, lesson length etc. - important for someone like myself who is works and has kids with their own busy schedules.
