As a pro-level bass player, I understand the importance and the roll of the drum set in a band. I can help you coordinate your limbs, perfect your beats, improve your timing, and read rhythms...one step at a time.

I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

With private teaching experience and a degree in Jazz Composition & Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, Granville adopts the teaching methods of the accomplished performers and educators who instructed him, such as the late Joe Morello(Dave Brubeck), Terri Lyne Carrington (Grammy Award winning artist), Dave DiCenso(Hiromi, Josh Groban) among others.

Granville's curriculum centers on the building blocks; great technique to empower flexibility in his students. He uses methods perfected by Alan Dawson (The Rudimental Ritual), Gary Chaffee (Odd Time Stickings), Sanford A. Moeller (The Moeller Technique), and other great teachers while employing methods he has found successful through his years of teaching.When necessary, music theory elements are employed to teach song form, dynamics and overall musicianship.

Travis has worked with all ages, abilities and skill levels to achieve their musical goals. Lessons taught with patience and consistency have provided his students with the most important skills and concepts to play with confidence and proficiency. Lessons a fun and thorough with emphasis on proper technique and a direct model of fundamentals.

He will improve the students technique and creativity while introducing diverse styles of music. Students will implement the use of the rudiments and see how they might be applied to beats or fills on the drum set. Linear patterns and four way coordination patterns will be applied for developing good coordination skills and ambidextrous discipline in advanced players. Beginners will learn to grasp a feel of straight quarter, eighth and sixteenth note beats.
