Drumming is one of my greatest passion in life. I have experience playing and teaching in all settings and styles. I tailor my approach for each student and have tons of supplemental material to level up your playing in no time!

***I am a freelance musician/percussionist in the NYC area but I am currently teaching online lessons from my Texas home in the midst of the pandemic.***

Being from Texas, music education became a huge part of my life from the moment I picked up a pair of sticks in 2001. I received two performance degrees from very prestigious music/percussion programs (Florida State and Eastman School of Music) and I have been private teaching since 2013. Lessons with me could set you up for either great success and/or to simply have a very good time learning something new. Whatever goals you have, I will do my very best to fulfill them. I have training on the following instruments: marimba, xylophone, vibes, bells, snare drum, timpani, drum set, auxiliary instruments (tambourine, triangle, cymbals, tom-toms, etc) and a few hand drums. I currently have access to a drum set, marimba and drum pad/snare drum.

Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.

I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.

I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!) I've been lucky enough to record and share the stage with famous Chicago musicians, such as Chris Siebold, Mark Colby, Frank Caruso, Jeremy Khan, and Marlene Rosenberg, among others. Craig tailors lessons to the needs and goals of the individual student whether they are a beginner or an advanced student. Being able to work with the students to reach their full potential by giving them a strong vocabulary and command on the instrument are areas he is able to shine on them, but more importantly make it fun while they are learning the instrument.

I have been playing drum kit and percussion for over fifteen years and teaching for about 12. I've played a little bit of everything - pop, rock, punk, hip-hop, ska/reggae, blues, jazz, and even musical theater. I'm happy to share my skills and expertise with drummers of all ages and skill levels (lessons at my studio will be on electronic kit).

The drum course is designed for entry-level students. The course covers the basics from holding sticks to playing a full kit. The theory, which is focused on, is rudiments. The 40 rudiments that are taught cover everything from a single stroke roll to a triple ratamaque.
