I've been teaching songwriting sessions for Girls Rock Camp, the Girl Scouts and a few Youth Programs in the area. Song writing sessions is a workshop that helps my students place their words into a rhythm. This class is great for group lessons.
About Rachel
I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.

I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.
My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.
Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.
Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.

Finger Picking, Song Writing, Rhythm, Lead, Scales,Modes & Ear Training.
Songwriting and composition: Learn techniques, how to brain storm and plot your musical story line. This class pairs great with vocal lessons or guitar lessons.

All the students on my Student YouTube channel who have studied under three years, are practicing 2 hours a week, and you will have a similar result. That's 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Students under 5 practice about 5-10 minutes a day.
Please have an assignment book that lies flat, and keep it next to your music books as you practice between lessons. My instructions are very detailed to insure your best progress.

For on-line lessons, you will need a quiet place, and please test your sound and video prior to beginning of lesson. For students under 13 or so, do have a parent or caregiver taking notes while we work together.

About Lenny R.
CloseI have been writing songs since 14. I have recorded my songs with the Dharma Bums and Thunderbug Collective. During my time at Oberlin, I sought to improve my songwriting through courses in the creative writing department and workshops with the Oberlin Songwriters Association. I was an active member of this organization and was a featured performer at the annual showcase from 2014-2016.
About Lenny
While studying with me we will work on many facets of music including technique, sight reading, critical listening, music theory, improvisation, and how to apply these skills to a piece of music to truly express yourself. My goal is to instill a deep understanding of music to my students while letting their individual sensibilities show.
STYLES: I can teach all styles of American music (i.e Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, R&B etc.) as well as classical and fingerstyle.
I have a degree in classical
I have experience playing in many different bands in many styles including: Rock, Reggae, African, Blues, and Jazz groups.
SUZUKI METHOD: I am trained and certified in the Suzuki Guitar Method and spent 3 years teaching Suzuki in studio with children as young as 5. This involves a significant parent-teacher-student commitment and regularly yields impressive results.
ON TALENT: I agree with Shin-ichi Suzuki that talent is irrelevant and a myth. I believe that the potential of all my students are the same but they come to me with various starting skills levels and all learn at a very different pace. I believe that the myth of “talent” really just means that the individual has had a long exposure to music. This is why I emphasize critical listening in my lessons. If you have a large knowledge of music and sounds in your head it makes it easier to make connections and better assess your ideas.

Songwriting is a magical and personal art. I will facilitate your strengths and assist you with your desired outcomes as a songwriter. We focus on lyrical structure, story detail, plot twists, word choice, chord structure and–above all–letting your unique personality shine through your work. Accountability is often the biggest step towards a consistent and developed writing practice. I am here to help you drill through the dirt and bedrock of everyday life until we reach the undercurrent of creative flow that makes life worth writing about.
About Lucciana
My name is Lucciana (Loo-Chee-Ah-Nah...I was named after opera legend Luciano Pavarotti!)
I began formally studying music at age six. I spent my childhood and teen years participating in choir, orchestra, private instrument lessons (piano, voice, violin, Dobro), musical theater and local bands with musicians much older than I was!
I became a music teacher for the first time at a small music store in 2009. I absolutely fell in love with sharing the skills and techniques that had helped me become a lifelong musician.
I have extensive experience working with a variety of age groups and special interest students. My areas of expertise include: young children (0-5), students with special needs and/or behavioral issues, adult beginners, live performance coaching for future professionals, songwriting coaching/feedback, ear tr
Most importantly, I am passionate about teaching music in a way that leaves each student connected to the joy of creative play. No matter what age, skill level, or instrument, I fully believe that music meets you where you are and enriches your life in exceptional ways. I will work with you on what you wish to learn, incorporating skill, music theory, dexterity, technique, improv and repertoire into your curriculum in a way that leaves both of us inspired at the end of each lesson.
