Are you interested in learning how to write a song? Do you play an instrument or sing and want to take that next step of songwriting seriously?

I've been writing songs for as long as I've been around music, and whether they were good or bad, I never stopped writing. Songwriting for me is as therapeutic as journaling, and over the last 10 years I've taught myself how to craft a song out of my own life experience. So far I've released 2 full-length albums that I've written myself; about my life. (Side-note: you don't have to be a musician to write a song, but it is helpful to know an instrument.)

In our lessons we will start where you are at, whether you're a beginner to writing or have had plenty of experience, I can help you find your voice and write that song you've always dreamt of. In our lesson plan we can also eventually record your song so you can have a professional recording of your own music (whether I play in the recording or you is your choice!) If you have any ...

I have been working as a professional musician since 1987. In that time, I've played many roles alongside a wide range of established and emerging talent, from around the world, including band leader, accompanist, music producer, composer, arranger, co-writer, teacher, coach and mentor. Along the way, I have continued to pursue my passion for education, teaching private music lessons to amateurs, professionals and hobbyists from all walks of life.

As a professional composer/songwriter, I have written songs in a variety of styles, across multiple genres, alone and with others, and enjoyed over one hundred (100) cuts including single and music video releases on recording projects with a very wide range of emerging and established artists and bands. To date, as a writer and/or publisher, I have scored thirty-one (31) syncs on national television.

About Alan

Beginner, intermediate and advanced are all welcome. I give the same attention to teaching amateurs as I do professionals. Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy: Forty-eight (48) hours advance notice is necessary to cancel or reschedule any lesson. Otherwise, students are responsible for the full p

Love how she teaches the mechanics of learning to sing properly such as breathing correctly and posture right from the start for a beginner. Fantastic instructor!

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

"Working with Fawn on my songs the past 3 years has been a complete blessing. What used to be disorganized thoughts have been turned into lyrics and songs. I never thought I'd see the day when my songs would be ready to be recorded in a studio. Also, it's cool to be working with a coach who is current. (She just won for the Great America Song Contest last month). With all the awards she has won and career success she's had, she is still humble and really cares about her students progress and own careers. I love working with her and look forward to continuing."

Not only was she able to help me improve my songwriting, but she helped with my singing in my lessons too! She is definitely the perfect teacher if you are looking to work on both. She also taught me how to use the Nashville Numbers System to chart my songs and be able to communicate well with my band. I take lessons in Brittany's home, which is in a great location and is really nice. I feel very safe there (her complex is gated) and always love going to see her!"
