Experience teacher of 13 years working from other music schools in Michigan as well as New Mexico. Teach ALL styles of music, while also teaching how to read and count notations. Lessons being taught by world touring musician still on rise. Learn your favorite songs while also seeing (reading) what you are playing. Teach full set as well as snare, and even marching band percussion like quads/quints. I believe music theory is very important to becoming a better musician and that it definitely separates the amazing from the mediocre.

About Demarcus

I am a world touring musician with 30 years of drums/percussion experience. I have performed on some of the biggest stages in the this country as well as others. I have experience working with all ages, gender, and levels of students. For many years I have taught students varying from the ages

Demarcus does an excellent job identifying your style and customizing your lesson plan to fortify the skills you need. He'll break the music down for you to learn at your speed. Doesn't matter what your style is. He's got you covered. He'll get your playing to the next level if you'll put in the practice time.

Clifford Drum School offers exceptional education personalized to each individual student. I've been teaching for over 8 years and work with each student to develop lesson plans based on their interests. Lessons take place in a professional environment where students get to learn drumming fundamentals, reading, music theory as well as learning to play their favorite songs by ear. Finally, students will have the opportunity to perform at student recitals as well as learn about recording technology while recording their own drum covers (student performance examples below!). Lessons are also available at the student's home for a nominal fee.

My son is extremely pleased with his drum lessons he is receiving from Instructor Jimmy Howell Jr..

Jimmie arrived on-time and ready to start. He dove right into getting to know my son and started teaching him on bells and learning rhythm since that`s what my son will be expected to know for his first year of band in the fall.
He was very good at connecting with my son and easily had him enjoying the lesson.
You can tell Jimmie has a passion for teaching children and his face lit up talking about it. He heaped praise on my sons accomplishments and my son said he truly enjoyed the lesson and can`t wait for next week.
I`d highly recommend him to teach your child. I don`t think you`d find someone else with the same passion for children. So glad I made the decision to hire Jimmie and look forward to many years of him being involved in developing my son into a awesome musician.
Thank you Jimmie!

I have been working with students of all ages and levels for over 26 years and have learned something meaningful from each and every one them. Nothing makes me happier when I see them getting into great schools and acquiring lucrative jobs that make them happy, My students walk away with tools to not just play a musical instrument but a skill set strong enough to tackle any task.
I am equally versed in performing on and teaching drum-set (Pop, Rock, Jazz, Latin etc...), all the percussion instruments of the orchestra (ask about my state of the art recording studio where all of these instruments live), and hand drums including congas, bongos, Djembe etc... Anything you can strike scrape or shake is available for study either online or at my studios.

About David

David R. has collaborated with some of the finest talents in pop, jazz and classical music. After joining Barry Manilow’s band in 2003, he has appeared to sold out arenas all over the world and recorded Grammy nominated, Emmy winning and chart topping albums and DVDs. David received two Grammy nom

I was honored to take a hand percussion lesson from David after hearing him perform with a major arena tour and a phenomenal jazz trio!. Although the setting for the lesson happened to be intimidating, David was able to help me focus on my strengths as a player and showed me how to build on them. He excels at building confidence and inspired me to integrate world percussion into my work as an elementary school teacher. I highly recommend him as an educator who knows how to motivate and bring out the best in students. I look forward to taking lessons online in the future!

David taught me since 2011. He is the most handsome, serious, responsible teacher I ever had. He helped me become a well-round musician rather than just a percussion player. To be honest, he is the most suitable teacher for me.
Jack
As an instructor, David exudes the perfect balance of amiability and intimidation. He will inspire you to work your absolute hardest without scaring you away. Personality-wise, he is that happy medium somewhere between Mr. Rogers and J.K. Simmons in Whiplash. I studied with David during my college years and 7+ years later I still utilize his concepts in everyday practice. There are many specific stories, ideas and exercises of his that have always stuck with me and come up quite often when I am working on something new or teaching a lesson or class of my own. Whether we were learning orchestral excerpts, 4-way independence, Bach fugues or just playing quarter notes with the metronome, I always left our lessons feeling highly motivated and anxious to practice. It's also great to have a teacher that can blow your mind with his own playing. It might be difficult for some teachers to get students into something like the tambourine or triangle but when he picked one up and casually played some insane rhythms and advanced techniques I was immediately inspired to learn to do the same. Not to mention his drum work on Matt Herskowitz's "Forget Me Not" - some of the things he does on that record still keep me up at night. I'm very grateful for my time as a student of David's and glad I can still learn from him as a friend and colleague!

You've got to walk before you can run, so I focus on the basics. But, the basics can be a lot of fun! Especially once we start to apply them to your favorite songs, and being creative with them - that's kind of what it's all about!

About Mike

Learning to play an instrument is a mixture of a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work. My strength is finding what will inspire my students to WANT to put in those difficult hours of practice, and then showing them how to apply what they have learned in a creative way, so that they experience the fu

Amazing, patient really informative instructor and just a great guy. Highly recommend.

Mike was really the best instructor I could have asked for. Knowledgeable, patient, and best of all, chill when he needed to be. I was just picking up the drums for a high school band I was in at the time, and he was more than willing to help me learn whatever dumb song me or my band had decided sounded cool at the time. At the same time, he showed me a lot of really excellent practice techniques, directed me to some solid literature for different rhythms to work on, and would sit with me through a whole hour of my relentless mistakes like it was nothing. More than a good instructor, he's a really cool guy! He never missed a beat!

"Murray Piper is an excellent, excellent music teacher for kids (and adults too). Unlike some of my past music teachers, who's instrument skills far exceed their ability to teach, Murray is an excellent communicator, super engaging, and keeps lessons really fun. My 7 year old Son is receiving drum lessons from Mr. Piper, and loves interacting with him. Murray is also happy to adjust his teaching style to suit the personality of his students. Most importantly as a Father, Murray is kind, upbeat, and professional with every member of my family, including my two children who aren't (yet) receiving music lessons. Thank you Murray! You are truly excellent at what you do."
