We had an amazing experience with Dave. He is very warm and genuine and makes children feel very comfortable. We are looking forward to our second lesson with him and I'm sure five stars from us, but since it was our first experience we can't wait for the next one!

This teacher did not pay close attention as I explained by goals, which resulted in a lesson that was not aligned with my goals for drumming. I would recommend searching for a different teacher if you have specific goals. This teacher either did not understand what I was explaining or not able to translate make goals into specific practice routines.

My students will quickly learn the basics of drumming, including: stick control, technique, rhythms, drum fills, and licks. It does not matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced drummer. The same time and effort will be exercised. We will have a fun and meaningful time playing, both by ear and by reading music. These lessons will really be hands on using teaching methods such as music books, DVD’s, and playing of my own. Students will have a great time also studying music theory, learning how to assemble the drum set, learning the parts of the drums, how to tune the drums, and how to accompany other musical instruments. "Experienced drum teacher of 15 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of rudiments and reading. I specialize in rock, funk, jazz, and world music. I use an assortment of books, mostly hand outs, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: sound recording equipment, sheet music, and more. Let's grab some sticks and rock and roll!"

About Aaron

Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 15 years.
"I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth."

My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

Private Drum Teacher

I have been professionally teaching the drums for over fifteen years, both privately and at a variety of schools including Northfield Mount Hermon and Deerfield Academy. My teaching method strives to combine requisite skill building work and technical refinement (notably in the areas of rudiments, time keeping, and independence) with a focus on musical implementation of said technique in a variety of settings/genres, and an awareness of how to play with other performers and effectively use your skills to create an evocative (rather than simply challenging or impressive) performance.

A huge part of our lessons will involve listening to and learning how to play a diverse repertoire of music, from contemporary pop, and hip-hop to 70's era funk and soul, to 60's jazz and rock, curated to match each student's interests, while also exploring new material that they may never have had the chance to encounter before. Depending on the student, we may also delve into part-writing for ...

About Nathan

Teaching and playing music have always been closely linked for me throughout my career. I began performing professionally at thirteen, and two years later began giving private lessons, constantly incorporating new techniques and lessons I was learning from my gigs into my teaching curriculum. This early start in both areas has provided a wonderful foundation for my teaching and performing careers, both of which have continued for more than a decade and a half. During that time, I've had the joy of working with students of all ages as a drum instructor at Northfield Mount Hermon, a music teacher at Greens Farms Academy, a general music and chorus teacher at Amherst Middle School, a summer music instructor at Deerfield Academy, and with continued private lessons. I've also recorded drums on over 20 albums and played hundreds of shows with a

diverse group of artists across the country.

In my lessons, my highest priority is meeting students at their level and making sure that our work is helping them to progress towards theirs goals as a musician/instrumentalist. With a combination of focus on musicality, technique, and developing a musical vocabulary, students will both improve their fundamental skills on their instrument, while also expanding their more general musical understanding, all within a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment. I look forward to working with you!

Karen
"Fantastic!!!

My son started taking trumpet lessons with Jesse last summer, but soon confessed that he really didn't like the instrument. He asked if he c
ould try drums. I suggested that he do that and perhaps try some guitar or keyboards also. He has stuck with drums and loves it, but also asked Jesses to help him with a vocal song he'd like to perform for his school's talent show this spring. I LOVE the fact that Jesse can help him try out so many different aspects of musicianship in his fabulous in-house studio! The first "recital"/jam session was so amazing that my 9 year old daughter asked if she could also take lessons with Jesse. Now both of my kiddos are singing, Jamming and keyboarding together, and it is so much fun.
I hated piano lessons as a kid. I was always in trouble for not practicing enough, but everything the teacher gave me to work on was so unappealing. I wanted a different music experience for my kids. I have found it with Jesse. He is so talented and inspiring. He listens to his students and gently moves them to accomplish amazing results. With his back help, even beginning students can feel like they are part of a band and really making music.
I feel so fortunate to have found Jesse and for my kids to have such a positive and well rounded musical introduction. I have even decided to take guitar lessons for myself now!
My husband had similar negative music experience as I did as a child and was very negative about my efforts to have our kids take music lessons at all until he came to the first recital/jam session at Jesse's studio. He loved it and could completely appreciate how much fun the kids were having learning how to play music in a more modern and flexible environment."
