Hi, my name's Andy! I've been playing drums since I was 13 years old. I started out taking professional lessons until I gained enough confidence and foundation to go on to perform with various groups and in live settings. I have toured all over the country and played with very talented musicians from many different genres. At the age of 18 I began teaching drum lessons to others to share my knowledge. My students have gone on to form musical groups of their own and challenge themselves with live performances. Find the voice of any drum and make it sing. Students of every level benefit from rhythmic breath and speaking the words of the rhythms. Beginners will find the sounds of the drum, learn the language used to explain patterns, and quickly memorize rhythms by name. Everybody learns differently, we will write, speak, feel, or clown around until you fully grasp the rhythm. Intermediate and advanced students will benefit from a variety of techniques from around the world to employ to make even familiar patterns sound fresh.

I have over 10 years experience teaching drums to all different ages. I received the “Outstanding Youth Advocate” award from Berklee College of Music's Community Affairs Dept. in 2014 for teaching at the Boys&Girls Club in Allston, MA. I perform a lot around the northeast U.S., spanning a diverse spectrum of styles.

I teach rudiments, hand+foot techniques, coordination exercises, grooves - stemming from rock to funk to jazz, bossa nova, samba, west african, and much more.

I believe in music as a powerful tool for social changing and personal development. Even tho I'm a professional musician, I also have always believed in the deep connections of music as a therapeutic / personal care practice.
That's why usually my class is divided in a theoretical part where I explore more of the whys and hows but also dedicate the other half to apply this and explore each person musical taste because we all love different styles and they all have something to offer to us. Explore and expand our musical tastes is how we grow, develop our love to music and our understanding of each other in a society.

Drumming is a passion for me. I do it because I love it and want to share my knowledge with students. I have been playing/performing for 30 years. Originally from Maine, I have performed with concert, jazz, marching, fusion, and rock bands. I have also performed with percussion and wind ensembles. Whatever genre you desire to learn, or whether you have never picked up an instrument or have some playing experience we can grow and expand your musical abilities together. I look forward to working with you!

I have been on the Boston Music scene for over 10 years, playing in many bands ranging from Jazz, Jam, Funk, Electronic, Drum&Bass, Rock, Metal, Hip Hop, Reggae and many more. I have been actively teaching and touring for the past Five years. I have been playing the drums for 25 years, and I am still in love with my instrument. Playing and teaching is my passion.

I believe that everybody's got rhythm. My job is to help people recognize, comprehend and exercise rhythm by giving them the tools and the techniques necessary to express themselves musically.
