I have over 10 years experience teaching drums to all different ages. I received the “Outstanding Youth Advocate” award from Berklee College of Music's Community Affairs Dept. in 2014 for teaching at the Boys&Girls Club in Allston, MA. I perform a lot around the northeast U.S., spanning a diverse spectrum of styles.

If desired, I can teach out of several books - including Garwood Whaley - Musical Studies for Intermediate Snare Drummer, Charley Wilcoxon - The All-American Drummer: 150 Rudimental Solos, Charles Dowd - Funky Primer for the Rock Drummer, and Tommy Igoe - Groove Essentials 1.0+2.0

Or I can teach without any books as I have a wealth of knowledge in me!

I teach rudiments, hand+foot techniques, coordination exercises, grooves - stemming from rock to funk to jazz, bossa nova, samba, west african, and much more.

Josh is always easy to be around and is able to form any lesson around what I wanted to do, as well as teach me loads of new ideas if I hadn’t planned anything. He has greatly helped improve my own production and give me insight into what professional producers do to set themselves apart. He’s great to work with and always in an uplifting mood.

Hi, my name's Andy! I've been playing drums since I was 13 years old. I started out taking professional lessons until I gained enough confidence and foundation to go on to perform with various groups and in live settings. I have toured all over the country and played with very talented musicians from many different genres. At the age of 18 I began teaching drum lessons to others to share my knowledge. My students have gone on to form musical groups of their own and challenge themselves with live performances. Contact me if you are looking to learn beginner drum techniques, prepare for an audition, brush up your skills, learn your favorite songs, and play the best instrument in the world! I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you! Let's have fun!

Andrew didn't teach me through Reverb, but I made an account just to say how much I appreciate him. His lessons were fun, and worth every penny. I would recommend him to anyone, any age. He taught me drums for 2 years, and it was a blast. He is the most patient, down to earth and funny guy, and his teaching style was so easy to learn from. He is definitely one of a kind!!!

Practical, efficient, patient, supportive. Matthew is able to assess quickly and keep things progressing forward while still highlighting fundamentals. Great for adults. Gentle for those on the lower end of confidence with an instrument.

Matt taught me for a 3 month period and helped me drastically with learning how to improvise guitar solos. I can't thank Matt enough for his help in helping me with a rather unorthodox time to start getting lessons. Each week he told me to bring 3 songs with a guitar solo I would like to learn in different genres and each week we broke down the solos for me to practice and gather their techniques. Thank you so much Matt!

My 9 year old son had his first session yesterday, and he loved it. Matthew is great, responsive and especially patient! My son is looking forward to having more sessions!

I am thrilled to hear that you or your kid is ready to start taking drum lessons! I have been teaching drum set and percussion for eleven years, and last year finished my master's in percussion performance at CU, after a music education degree in Michigan.

I start students off with "repeat after me" style exercises to develop technique, coordination, and musical tone on the instruments. Then, we can dig into playing the music (s)he loves! I'm always curious to hear if there is a certain band or drummer my student admires?

About Stephen

Hey drummers! I am a working drummer and percussionist in all major styles, from blues, funk, and jazz to classical and marching band. In my off time, I enjoy playing in the mountains with my girlfriend and our cat.

"Mike is an awesome teacher who takes interest in each student's personality and is able to customize the learning experience accordingly. My son is only 6 and yet he is making excellent progress and always enjoys his lessons. Mike makes sure there is always a personal connection and that makes the student comfortable and confident in playing music. He is always attentive to detail and is able to pinpoint what the student needs to work on and therefore there is always an improvement in technique. We were referred to him by a friend and are very happy with our decision to enroll our son. Highly recommended!"

"Matt is a true professional!

Matt teaches my 10 year old on drums and has done an amazing job. He has instilled the basics and foundation of drumming while still holding the interest of my son. At the same time he is developing his ear and teaching him how to play and adapt to different styles of music.

I highly recommend Matt for all ages of drumming kids and adults alike."

"Great teacher with a lot of passion!!

I started taking lessons with Casey about 8 months ago. He is the third drum teacher I've had and I definitely won't be looking for another one! He has a lot of patience but is always striving to make me work harder and be a better musician. He is passionate about what he does and it shows! I've learned and grown as a musician significantly faster with Casey than any of my previous teachers. He makes the hard work fun! I would absolutely recommend him to beginners and intermediate players as well! He is a lot of fun and he's flexible! Try him out, you'll be rockin' in no time!"

"Joe is a great instructor. I took lessons with him when I was 19 and then stopped. I hit a wall in my progress and was feeling uninspired for months. I was split in so many directions, I was not making any significant progress. I tried online for a while and then it hit me. Go see Joe again. I did and within the first week I was back on track.

If you are a new drummer, go see Joe! I remember when I was first learning from Joe. His teaching style makes it easy to learn.

If you are a drummer who is stuck in a rut and can't progress. Go see Joe. He'll get you back on track.

I won't stop now. I will continue to train with Joe until the student has out-mastered the master."

Drumstick Sizes and Types - And Why It Matters

Drummers, you've got it easy.  Grab some sticks and something to hit, and your makeshift instrument is just as good as the real thing... right?  Sure, maybe if it's just an impromptu jam session with friends.  But for proper technique and to really improve on the drums, you'll need the right equipment - which includes your drumsticks.
