I believe that drumming is a universal practice for joy, health, communication and discipline available for anybody...any age...any brain...any body.

I enjoy helping other people find the groove within them, strive to improve, and adapt their drumming regimen to make "the work" of drum practice feel more like the "play" of sport and meditation ... fun, free, and refreshing

I studied Afro-Cuban Percussion, Percussion and Drums at the University of Northern Colorado, the nation's 3rd largest Jazz school. I bring 17+ years of education and teaching experience to the table.

I will help develop and strengthen your rhythm and snare technique.

Attacking the students aspirations and goals of their personal requests to the trainer, and getting to know the client and where they would like to see themselves in a limited time of training so the clients money and time isn't left in the mud! We will play and organize our curriculum through music and melody, with a counted rhythm to the beat we are attacking. Listening to our favorite songs is a good way to learn how to play an instrument, it gives a familiar count and sound that we can connect to! Music is simple but fun so our sessions will always revolve around repetitive lessons ,BPM , counting, rhythm, and listening to many many songs and playing them!

Together we will go from basic coordination exercises all the way to advanced grooves. We will talk about the composition of a drum part to a song. Aside from drum set technique, we can also learn hand drum techniques. In a world where you can not always bring a drum set to every gig, we will learn how we use other percussion instruments to achieve the same feel as using a drum set.

I have been playing drums for more than 10 years and have been teaching for more than 3. Throughout that time, I have played across the country in New York City and even in Japan. I am currently a Jazz Studies Major at Sacramento State University. My goal is to make every student a well-rounded drummer who knows whats going on when they are in any type of musical situation. My favorite style to play is jazz, but I am well-rounded in all other styles such as rock, Latin, blues, funk, and country.

In my lessons, I base the material on the student depending on how advanced they are. If the student is just starting out, I will teach them the basics such as holding the drumsticks properly, basic rudiments, reading rhythms, learning about the hardware, and so on.
