Drum Lessons in Huntertown. Amazing Teachers.

Beginning students will begin studying from the book "Progressive Drum Grooves" by Craig Lauritsen which he/she will be required to have each lesson.

Although instructor will have drumsticks, brushes etc. students should carry them along for every lesson.

A drum set or practice pad will be a very crucial part in seeing growth from our lessons.

The lesson room also has a PA system for CD/MP3 player capabilities.

I can provide practice pad if needed. If student is learning the drum set they will need to supply for in-home lessons.

I’m a bilingual professional drummer/musician with a Masters degree in music. I have also been teaching drums for more than 18 years with students of all ages, from beginners to advanced drummers. I have also toured worldwide with many top artists like Becky G., Thalia, Oscar Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, etc. Part of the things I think are important to learn as a drummer are: How to develop independence, hand/foot technique and speed, rudiments, theory, how to play different genres among other things.

Drums were my first real hobby, and a great confidence-builder when I was growing up. I've spent many hours playing drums, and it's become a very rewarding part of my life. I specialize in teaching the techniques of playing the drum set, and I'd love to show you how to do it. So, sign up! I promise it'll be fun. You won't regret it.

I'm Lucas, a professional drummer and educator in Chicago. I'm passionate about playing music and am so grateful that I get to make a living doing what I love. I played drum set with Blue Man Group, I regularly perform at the top jazz clubs in Chicago, and I've toured the country with indie bands. I'm also a high school percussion ensemble director and college drum set teacher, so I have a broad range of experiences to pull from as I craft a customized plan to help you meet your drumming goals.

I started playing the drums in my hometown of Tucson, AZ at 9 years old, following in my mom’s footsteps, who played drums at my church. It wasn’t long before I started playing in punk bands, jazz groups, and youth orchestras. I moved to the Midwest to study music at Northern Illinois University, and eventually went on to earn a master's degree at DePaul University. Through my work with the M Gray Music Academy (Macy Gray) and my tenure at the Hollywood School of Rock as teacher and Show Director, I have developed successful programs for students ranging in age from 5 years old and beyond. I have mentored numerous young musical groups in beneficial rehearsal techniques, live performance and basically all the things you need to know about being in a band that wants to be great!

As we explore the exciting world of music, guitars, drums and percussion, we will cover all aspects of music theory, music history and ear training through video, audio and text examples.

Students will be provided with all the necessary tools to fully understand musical concepts and have the ability to play for recreation or at a professional level.

You won't need any books to start but I do suggest a small 3 ring binder for notes, literature, weekly hand outs and homework .
