I attended Berklee College of Music with drum set as my principal instrument. Drumming is a huge passion of mine and I have an appreciation for many genres. From pop to death metal, I love playing it all and want to teach you how to engage with your favorite music! I can teach you a classical snare piece, or we can learn math rock. I can get you comfortable behind a kit so that you can play the music that moves you! PLEASE NOTE: I do not have a drum set at my studio, all lessons would need to be in-home.

He was my band teacher when I was in grade school. I’m now going into my freshman year of college and I still remember him! He was so engaging, kind, energetic, and really cared about each individual student. I always looked forward to band in the morning and during the school day. He was definitely meant to be an instructor! :)

Jeff has been great with my 7 year old son learning Djembe and Bongos. Jeff gives clear concise instructions and practices the skills with him to work on during the week. My son is easily distracted and Jeff is very flexible and listens to what he has to say, using is as a way to teach and redirects. My son can't wait to go to class every week!

Howdy! I started playing drums in 1999 - gigging/recording since 2006. I’m comfortable playing most genres (proficient in rock and jazz). Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I’m new to teaching and I’m very eager to pass on my knowledge and help my students achieve their goals.

About Brendan

"I can't recommend Mike enough! I always wanted to learn drums but it felt daunting and somewhat inaccessible to me. From my first lesson with Mike, that changed completely. I left his studio feeling like I could absolutely learn to play. In just one lesson I learned a lot about proper technique, reading music, etc. without feeling overwhelmed or bored. Mike explains everything clearly while also making it fun to learn. And, most importantly, he has a clear (and proven) structure to his lesson plans. Concepts are taught in a cumulative manner so that each lesson you make progress towards a clearly defined goal - a goal that you get to help define, be it a specific song you want to learn or a certain skill/level to attain. Mike is knowledgeable about the subject matter and provides insightful tips and homework to make sure you're learning the right skills in a fun and challenging manner. If you want to learn drums, Mike is your guy."

"Ben has been teaching my 8 year old daughter drum technique since Nov 2015. He has done a great job at connecting with her too make her excited about music! I appreciate how he encourages her play intuitively, which is teaching her principles that she can apply in all aspects of music, not just in playing the drums. I would recommend Ben for a student of any age, but I have been impressed with how he has connected with my daughter."

Here, San Diego, CA teacher Maegan W. shares her tips for sight reading practice...   There are two types of drummers: those who read music, and ones who don’t. I have met so many talented drummers who have decided they can’t or won’t read music, and never even give themselves a chance to try. Charts and sight reading can be overwhelming, but is a useful skill, and one that is easy if you do it ri …
