Having had experience in Australian Symphony Orchestras and ensembles, Peter has the passion and expertise to take you as far as you want to go

About Peter
I began piano lessons at four years of age, and was blessed to have an amazing piano teacher, who taught me for 14 years. She gave me a passion to teach others and impart to them a love for music. I have carried on that calling and taught hundreds of adults and children over the last 30 years. I am very thorough in my method and customize each lesson around the goals and dreams of each student. I incorporate theory, ear training and technical into all my lessons, regardless of the style of music they are learning. This gives my students an all-round musical education and appreciation for this wonderful gift they have in their hands.

I have experience in the professional music world as a pianist and french horn player, performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Opera Chorus and Orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia, Sydney Philharmo
nic Orchestra and Choir, as well as productions of "Cats", "Phantom of the Opera", Sesame Street, and touring all over Australia, U.S.A. and Israel. I have also been a part of the worship teams at Hillsong Church and C3 Church Australia.

I studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and also received my Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in French Horn (Teaching) and Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in Piano (Performance). So my experience not only comes from an inspiring teacher, but also from hundreds of performances on stages across the world working with the finest of musicians, singers, conductors and worship leaders.

I love music, and more so, love imparting it to others.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students come away from their lessons inspired and excited about their ability to accomplish their dreams. Whether it is to play 'Phantom of the Opera' or an Adele song, Debussy's Claire De Lune or Jingle Bells, I show them how to do it and help them get there. I am very thorough, taking no short cuts, but making it fun to learn an instrument. You will be amazed at what you are playing in three to six months!

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Jazz, Rock, Contemporary Christian

My son has studied french horn with Peter for 2 years now, and he looks forward to lessons every week. Under his guidance I've watched my teenager excel as a musician, and I've grown to admire Peter's teaching methods. We drive halfway across town to get to there ... because HE'S WORTH IT. It's true that Peter listens to his student's goals. He has literally tailored the lessons around my sons auditions while simultaneously giving him the necessary building blocks to continue growing musically.

About Charles
I am an international recording artist and seasoned performer. I have been playing music since the early age of 8 yrs old. I have always been inspired by music and love to inspire others with music. Some of my accomplishments include putting an album out with Universal Records as a Nashville recording artist, having over 7 albums out internationally, and recording and playing with some of the biggest names in the music industry. I am a classically trained musician as well as an innovative and experienced teacher. I have been teaching for over 15 years and have seen many of my students go on to become top-notch performers themselves while pursuing successful careers in music. In addition to being a private music teacher, I have also taught at many schools in the valley including the Center for Educational Excellence School, Grand Canyon Pr

My annual recitals are live-performance concerts featuring bands and other performing groups formed from among my students along with solo performances. My students also perform regularly throughout the community and are successful in their musical endeavors at all ages. I teach a wide range of genres and styles from classical music, blues, jazz and rock to heavy metal with an emphasis on becoming A-Level lead guitar soloists and song writers. I teach songwriting skills, music theory, and have even helped many of my guitar students be able to sing better while learning their main instrument.

I can teach everything from how to hold the sticks and hit the drum using proper technique to reading drum charts and understanding notation, (and even some music theory if you like). I have experience playing multiple genres, including rock, jazz, and funk, and I have a wealth of drum books to draw from, from having taking lessons on and off from various teachers since age 10.

About Paul
I began taking drum lessons at a very early age and continued on and off with various teachers for the better part of twenty years. I will always be grateful to them for the knowledge and wisdom they imparted on me and for the positive influence they have had on my life, especially the ones with whom I really bonded and who were essentially mentors to me while I studied with them.

As a teacher, there is no better feeling than seeing a student make progress and knowing that you helped him or her along the way, while at the same time not taking the credit, as it is always the student who has the harder job, who must do the real work. I always feel tremendous satisfaction when a student masters a difficult rudimentary exercise for the first time, or is able to execute a challenging rhythm pattern on the drum set. The expression on their
faces often conveys pride over their achievement, and I can often sense a boost in their self-esteem. This is why I teach.

I began playing drums when I was around twelve years old, and played throughout grade school, high school and college, in school jazz bands and musical pit bands, as well as playing in many rock bands over the years. I began teaching drums shortly after graduating from college, eventually relocating to New York City, where I lived for 12 years and where I continued playing and teaching, as well as taking lessons on and off. I was very fortunate to study with Joe Morello - famous for his tenure with Dave Brubeck and especially on the classic recording "Take Five." I have also played on several recordings, toured throughout the Northeast and Midwest, and have performed at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the Miami Music Festival, and have been overseas a few times for some European dates. Since moving to Orlando in late 2009, I played with a cover band, played drums and percussion in the orchestras for musical productions at community theaters, and currently play with a local Orlando rock band called the Cosmic Roots Collective.

To me, teaching drums is more than simply writing notes on a page of manuscript paper and having students practice and perform exercises. It is about connecting and showing them how expressing themselves musically can be one of the most fulfilling activities one can pursue. It is also about helping them really get in touch with their own sense of rhythm, the foundation of all music. When I take on new students, it is always my goal that I can help foster in them the same passion for and love of learning to play drums as the great teachers who taught me.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plan will be based on the student's level and goals. If the student is a beginner, we will start off with basic hand technique, rudiments, reading, etc., before moving on to the drum set. Playing along with a metronome will also be a regular part of lessons and should be with practice as well.

At the drum set, I will give students exercises for developing coordination and independence. They will also learn to play basic beats for different music styles, e.g. rock, jazz, funk, latin, with a focus on execution, time and feel. I have a wide assortment of drum books spanning all levels from which we can work out of or use examples. I also ask my students what songs they want to learn to play on the drums so that together we can figure out the beats to them. I ultimately want them to be able to transcribe the beats to these songs themselves, as well as create their own beats.

I may also talk a little about the history of drumming and the pioneers of the instrument, and we may also listen to records and watch videos of some of the masters in action.

I also occasionally like to "jam" with my students. as I have a piano and a few guitars in my practice room and a modicum of ability on both instruments.

As far as expectations, I assume my students are taking lessons because they want to learn to play the drums. And, as with any learning endeavor, practicing is very important. That said, I won't demand they practice a certain number of hours per week, as they need to decide how much time they have or are willing to put into it, and I expect this will vary from student to student. I realize that everyone has his or her own aptitudes and situations, so we can work together to determine the appropriate pace and amount of material to cover per week. However, if it appears to me that the student has not practiced the lesson, or is not putting in the time necessary to make progress, I will politely point it out and ask how I can help.

I am laid back and very patient. I never want my students to feel pressured or anxious about coming to lessons; I always strive to create a comfortable and relaxed environment in which they can learn and have fun at the same time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
A designated music room with an electronic drum set (Roland V Drums), digital piano, and a couple of guitars and amplifiers

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a practice pad or snare drum and sticks to the first lesson, if he or she is a beginner, although I prefer them to have these already if possible. After that, I expect the student to buy sticks, a pad and if necessary a stand to mount it, a metronome, music manuscript paper, and have a comfortable seat to sit on, if not a drum stool. If they are at the intermediate level and/or have already started on the drum set, then they need to have their own set in their home.

*** Specialties ***
Basic hand technique for beginners, eventually incorporating an extra limb, usually the bass drum first.

Rock and basic funk, jazz, and latin. Also basic musical notation. Ultimately, I would like the student to be able to transcribe the beats from some of their favorite songs, as well as write their own!

I love working with Paul

Paul isn't just a teacher, he's a collaborator. He allows me to direct where I want to go, but he points me in that direction and works with me to figure out the best way to get there. When I played other instruments, lessons were nerve-wracking and I was always relieved when they were over. Now I look forward to my lessons every week, and I don't want to leave when we're done! Working with Paul is a very positive experience, and I'd recommend him to anyone interested in learning to drum.

About Zach
Bonjour everyone , my name is Zach, I was born and raised in France in a small (tiny tiny) village called Galluis.

I have since then lived in Paris , Philadelphia and now New York.

He graduated from "Jean-Monnet European High-school" where I specialized in English and French Literature.

I have been teaching FRENCH and DRUMS for more than 12 years now.

About FRENCH LESSONS : ( section about DRUM LESSONS below )

Most people I've taught come to me saying "French is so hard , I will never be able to speak it" or "When I try to speak french, french people answer me in english"

--- THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH ME :)

French is easy , you just need a good teacher who cares about you.
I do.

I can help you with :

• Pronunciation ( so that nobody will answer you in English )
• What to know if you go to France soon ( so
that you can know a little bit before you go )
• Basic to advanced conversation ( so you can make french friends and understand what they say )
• Train your ear
• Grammar / Vocabulary / Verbs

BUT DON'T WORRY , IT WILL BE FUN !

After the first lesson , ALL my students realize that learning french isn't scary anymore.

So : qui veut apprendre le français ?*

(*who wants to learn french?)

Section about DRUM LESSONS:

On the music side of my studies: I attended the American School of Modern Music of Paris for 3 years and moved to Philadelphia to study with Joe Morello's former student Sam Ruttenberg at the University of the Arts in 2012.

I perform as a professional jazz drummer between Europe and America.

~~Teaching Philosophy~~

IF YOU CAN SAY IT , YOU CAN PLAY IT !

•I teach beginners to advanced students , all ages and styles are welcome

I can teach you ( how to ) :

• read
• improvise
• play with other musicians
• the history of the drums
• your role as a drummer
• make music with an instrument that at first doesn't seem very musical
• swing
• latin / afro cuban grooves
• rock
• correct your grip on the sticks
and everything else you may ask... the possibilities and endless

The things students would expect from me in a lesson would be the concept of keeping time with a metronome. Playing grooves that the student enjoys to hear. Using rudiments which would build creativity in the students playing. Exercises that building the strength of the student's wrist . The basic concepts of reading sheet music . And mainly to have fun playing over songs the student loves listening to.

-Using Rudiments

Hunter is hands down one of the best teachers I've had the chance to perform and work with over my 20+ years in the drumcorps/marching band realm. The knowledge he possesses is impressive in itself but the way he imparts stands out above all. He has a very special ability to read a situation as well as a student and cater the lesson to ensure the student will get the most of the time allowed. If you want to learn, excel, and achieve a higher understanding of your art then Hunter is the one you want teaching you!

He is a great teacher in a one on one setting, and his ability to both diagnose errors and prescribe the right fix is uncanny. He's the perfect combination of serious, knowledgeable, professional, and fun. If I still lived in Nashville, I would be thrilled to study with Hunter.

His extensive knowledge of percussion, music theory, and music pedagogy only supplement his ability to take any student at any level and make them discover a level of potential and success higher than already imagined. He has a tremendous ability to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of any student he teaches, thus offering very thorough instruction.

In short, Mr. Stricklin is a master in music performance, education, composition, and arranging! I highly recommend Hunter Stricklin. He will take your knowledge and abilities to the next level and beyond!

I am a professional, active drummer with a firm grasp on all styles ranging from rock to jazz.

About Isaac
I am Berklee College of Music graduate that studied Contemporary Writing & Production - a skill set that has led me to both play/record and write music for the drums, a variety of percussion, piano, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, trombone, euphonium, and voice. I currently live in Brooklyn, NY as a professional freelance composer and an active performer with my band.

Having had the opportunity to teach students of a wide range of ages (4-50 y/o), I've seen that everyone learns differently and at their own pace. My goal for each lesson is to hone in on the student's interests and base lesson material off of the music that they want to learn - be it classical, rock, or even video game music! I want there to be application for every thing taught in my lesson, and for the student to be able to relate one musical concept to another.

I
want all of my students to be able to have the feeling of playing music with another person, and at some point in my lessons I like to jam with my students! It's essential that my students understand that what they're learning, be it a song, or a scale, or and idea in music theory will have some sort of application involving another musician. This sort of communication is what keeps music fascinating to me!

I am available to teach any of the instruments mentioned as well as any music theory, writing, or production lessons as well. I hope I can help you meet your musical goals!

Isaac really catered to my needs in our one on one lessons. I went from barely knowing how to hold my sticks, to having a firm grasp on the difference between matched and traditional grip. His command of styles is astounding! Regardless of the genre, Isaac always had a firm grasp on what to play. We leaned jazz songs, rock songs, and blues primarily, but when I looked up his band Oh Malo, I was surprised to see him playing very fluently in an experimental/avant-garde setting!

Isaac always broke down material in an intuitive manner, and found a way to incorporate the fundamentals into whatever material we were working on. I highly recommend him as a teacher!
