My teaching method ranges depending on the student. I believe in my experience that everyone learns differently, therefore everyone develops at their own pace. I try to find key strengths in each student and expose this to their advantage, using their abilities to further develop their skills, this method has shown the most promising results and students usually find themselves playing and performing just a couple of months after their first lessons. Part of my method involves a lot of performance and recital opportunities to help break any fears and inhibitions a student may bring with them. Music is about sharing, so an early exposure to this method helps to strengthen and stabilize a core acceptance of a students style and path, giving them and those close to them a very clear picture of their development and achievements.

If you needed a reason
There is no question that music touches us instantly and activates images, emotions and memories that linger with us throughout our lives. As a casual listener or an obsessive music elitist, there are times in our lives when we get blown away by a sound so unique our entire body vibrates and resonates with the touch of something out of this world. I can honestly say when this happens to me I feel as close to a spiritual connection than anything I have experienced otherwise. I believe it is these exact events that have triggered my need to be completely involved in the making, performing and consuming of music. The creative process, to me, is the single obvious reason we exist in this world. We create and share, learn and interpret, build on previous ideas and inspire others to perfect upon this process. It is no doubt a very humbling experience to realize you are part of it all. During this process you come to realize how important you are as an Individual, how there is no other vessel like you in this world, nor has there ever been or ever will. You are here now and your voice, your talent, your gift is an instrument to the great choir of the human spirit. No one but you can relate this, a reason to be, to create, to give.

I'm a beginning drums teacher and primary drummer in my home church, as well as in my folk rock band The Fortune Tellers. My teaching style is entirely student-oriented, and I adapt my material based on what you want to learn. I often use my music theory background as a supplement, and occasionally I will give handouts and homework. I am primarily experienced in church music, but I have played drums in rock and punk bands and jazz ensembles, but I'll gladly teach you any style you are interested in. Students will need their own drum set and gear, and a notebook or binder.
I am a music and art teacher, and I have earned my Associate's degree in Music Education at MDC with a focus on jazz guitar. I have a diverse experience in different genres of music (rock, pop, punk/metal, jazz, praise & worship/gospel, and others). I have also sung and played guitar, drums, and bass in numerous bands throughout the years (currently, drummer/percussionist in folk-rock band The Fortune Tellers in Miami, FL).
I have always had a deep love for art, and am currently working on my Bachelor of Science in K-12 Art Education. I have a particular interest in figure drawing/portraiture (charcoal, graphite, India ink), landscape and still life painting (acrylic and oil paint), and both digital and film photography.
I am hoping to improve my teaching skills throug

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher. I help my students achieve their musical goals as they build vital skills like focus and persistence. I find teaching incredibly rewarding because I get to help my students grow as musicians and as people. If you want to join a band, play in your local church, or even just learn songs by your favorite artists, I’d love to help! I teach children ages four and up (or younger, if a parent is present) and adults. I welcome complete beginners, advanced players, and everyone in between. You don’t need a drum set to start lessons, and you don’t even need a pair of sticks for your first one! Any student with enthusiasm and commitment can learn.
I started playing drums when I was nine. I began playing professionally when I was 16, and I taught my first students shortly after that. When I was in high school, I had the privilege of playing at the Peaks Jazz Festival with some amazing guest performers, including Grammy-winning artists like Eric Marienthal, Dave Weckl, Ed Calle, and Randy Brecker. I’ve studied drums formally nearly since I began playing, and have had several wonderful teachers. I’ve combined what I felt were the most positive aspects of my their teaching to form my own teaching approach. Teaching has given me
I graduated cum laude from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music after studying drum set performance, composition, and music production. While still in college, I formed a jazz trio and started writing original music for us to play. I still perform with this group on a regular basis. I also perform frequently as a sideman in other people’s groups in various genres. I’ve also been fortunate enough to perform at the Kennedy Center and at the Umbria Jazz Festival. In addition to drumming, I also play the piano, write commercial music, and produce electronic music.
Like I mentioned before, I’m a human first! Outside of music, I enjoy baking, biking, traveling, and improvisatory acting. I love cookies and puns. If you have any questions about me, feel free to email me at ask by clicking "Ask a Question." Now, enough about me, I’m looking forward to learning about you!

Students can expect to learn and develop a strong technical understanding of rhythm studies, and a healthy technical approach while learning how to play your favorite songs, while putting your own individual stamp on the song. We will work on building the confidence and understanding of

Students who take lessons with me will be on a structured curriculum that they can use to help build their drumming skills, however the materials put a major emphasis on teaching students how to write their own grooves, fills, and more. There are fundamentals that are extremely important and take time and hard work to learn, but it is also important to learn how to express yourself as an artist with your instrument. Music is an art form of course. I make my best effort to get the fundamentals and basics down for my students in an easily comprehendible manner, but I also make a great effort to try and tie my lessons to each individual drummer. Everyone has a different voice, everyone has different needs in learning.
My name is Zachary Bauer and I am currently accepting new students for drum lessons, all levels and ages. No one is ever too young or old to learn the drums, just bring a positive hard working attitude!
A little about me; I am 25 years old, a full time professional drummer, and a student studying under renowed Drummer Larry London (Turner, Oregon : "JFK", "Tyranny of Hours"). I now have a space to offer lessons in my home studio and am eager to put it to good use!
Drums are my life. I am currently working with my original band "Anomie" along with a few other side projects such as drum tracking CD's and an individual artists' webpage. I graduated from Oregon State with a degree in Sociology and the intent to go to Graduate School to pursue teaching, but my passion of drums and the desire to spread happiness through music committ
I have teaching materials for students and a full lesson plan that is the same I have learned my basic techniques and grooves from, which progressively becomes more difficult and adds ornamental pieces one by one to your personal drummers tool kit. Though it is the same system I was taught from, I back it 100% and put some of my own ideas with it as well. I try to pertain each lesson to each individuals specific learning interests; every drummer is different.
My students will focus on:
-Proper technique (learning how to make the kit work for you, movement efficiency, stick grip, foot technique, posture, etc.).
-All different styles of music, their variations, and their similarities throughout genres.
-How to read sheet music and use a system created to learn how to write your own personal grooves, and fills, and solos.
-Rudiments in both single surface and full drum set form.
-Hi-hat steppings and openings.
-Tom grooves and fills.
-And of course how to have fun and express yourself musically in whichever way they desire.
Currently I am offering lessons at my home in my studio, but am also willing to travel to certain students in the area if they have a drum set at home that is preferred. My priority is my students, so we can always figure out a time that works for both of us.
Keep practicing everyone!
