Most recently, my drumming can be heard on multi-platinum selling recording artist Mark Slaughter's solo CD, "Reflections in a Rear View Mirror" which was released in March of this year. In additional to acoustic drumming, I have extensive experience with:
- midi programming (Toontrack Superior Drummer)
- drum set recording (Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper)

About Mark
Most recently, Mark's drumming can be heard on multi-platinum selling recording artist Mark Slaughter's solo CD, 'Reflections in a Rear View Mirror.'

In addition to being a full-time working drummer, Mark is guiding veteran and up & coming drummers with their musical careers both privately and at Nevada Music Academy (March 2014 to present).

Mark is currently accepting serious-minded adult students for in-home or online lessons. Drum set students are required to have access to a drum set; snare drum students are required to have a snare drum or practice pad.

*****BACKGROUND*****

With inspiration from a music-infused household, Mark began playing drums at the age of eight, shortly after relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. Within a few short years he was performing with various school bands (stage, jazz, orchestra, marching) and o
riginal rock bands formed with musicians from the local music scene.

Mark studied classical and rudimental snare drum performance at the Murray Spivack School for Snare Drum and funk, jazz, rock and Latin drumming under the tutelage of Irv Kluger, Chuck Silverman and Richie “Gajate” Garcia.

Mark’s first big break came in 1986 when he toured with the legendary Hollywood based hard-rock band Masque, which included the famous circuit clubs in Los Angeles supporting such artists as Warrant and Poison. Shortly after, Mark spent two years performing and recording with MTV favorites D.R. Starr and the M.D.’s, securing his place as one of Los Angeles’ “go to” drummers.

Drum lessons with Mark are informative, results-driven and loud at times! “Together, you and I will develop an ‘Individualized Learning Program’ designed just for you,” says Mark. “We’ll work at your level and at your pace – and we’ll have fun doing it!” Mark has been working successfully with students as young as 5 years of age. Beginning students will be playing basic drum beats during their first lesson and playing along to songs within several lessons. Experienced students will further develop reading chops, grooves, fills and rudiments.

To date, Mark has recorded and performed with numerous rock acts and is active in the local music scene. In addition, Mark is a two-time Las Vegas Rock Hall of Fame inductee.

Mark rocks!

Mark’s incredible skill as a drummer is only matched by his abilities as a teacher. In just a short time with Mark’s instruction, I have made vast improvements in my drumming. At my first lesson with Mark, he determined my skill level and what I sought to achieve with my lessons. Almost immediately, the fundamentals Mark showed me were translating into my drumming with my band. Mark has opened doors in my playing that I didn’t know existed. Mark is incredibly patient and really cares about ensuring I receive significant benefit from my lessons. Mark really goes out of his way to make sure I fully grasp everything he shows me. I would highly recommend Mark for anyone who wants to learn from a true master at his craft and from a teacher who takes pride in his students and his teaching. Thank you Mark!!

Mark Review

I have had many different types of music teachers through out my life and Mark is by far the best. He is very serious about helping his students do what they want to do. I had specific goals I wanted to accomplish. Mark took my goals seriously and did what he could to help me understand the techniques to be a good drummer. He broke things down in to little steps that helped me to practice on my own and figure specific drum patterns out, He gave me the tools to improve myself as a musician, Mark did not have to but he chose to put a lot of his own time in to teaching me what I wanted to learn He obviously cares about his students and takes them seriously. I highly recommend him to any future students

Able to teach hand percussion(Congas, Bongos, Djembe, etc.) to full drum kit. Also can teach drum notation. All genres. Full drum kit supplied when lessons are performed in teacher's studio.

About Nicole
Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums.
As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State Sch
ool Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master€'s degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music.
Nicole now resides in Tampa, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the drummer for a local original Soul/Rock band. Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.

My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Full Service music room: Keyboard, Full drum kit, Electric Guitar with 30 watts Amp and Microphone/ vocal monitor.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a 76 key Yahama YPG-235 Keyboard for your household to use for lessons for a small monthly rental fee. I have an Epiphone Electric Guitar with 30w amplifier. Will also bring microphone and monitor for vocal lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I have taught mostly Rock, Blues, and Classical genres for Piano, Guitar, Drums. Vocally, I specialize in R&B, Soul, Motown, Broadway, Pop, Top 100 and alternative/Hard Rock. I will adapt to your needs.

I can teach ROCK drumming and Percussion techniques. As a Composer and Professional Musician (guitar/saxophone) I also have a comprehensive understanding of poly-rhythmic studies and phrasing.

About Benjamin
Hello Future Students!

Whether you want to pursue a Musical Career or simply learn how to Play your Favorite Tunes for friends and family, I am here as your Teacher and Guide. I teach at my own home, at the Student's home or through the use of Skype.

I am originally from Ann Arbor. I spent much of this century living in NYC and prior to that I lived in Chicago. Those experiences vastly helped me develop Networking, Performance and Teaching experience. I now live in southwest Detroit near River Rouge.

As a Father of four, I have had the joy in teaching my own children Guitar, Saxophone, Songwriting, Composition and Keyboard. As a parent I have found that Patience and Encouragement is often the best form of support.

It has been proven that learning Music helps develop intuition, self-awareness, and social skills as well as imp
rove in other subjects not directly related to the arts such as Mathematics and Science.

One of the most important aspects of playing Music is being able to Play by Ear. This has been a priceless gift that I was born with and have developed throughout my life. I encourage all musicians, young and old, to do the same. The use of simple Rhythmic Dictation and Ear Training exercises can do wonders for "picking out" Beats and Harmonies no matter what Genre we are interested in.

I attended music courses at The Boston School of Contemporary Music and Thomas Jefferson College (MI). I have a BA at Columbia College Chicago double majoring in Music Composition and English .

My band THIRD BORDER's "Sun of Water; Sea of Light" was selected to be nominated for the Grammy's as The Best Alternative Album of the Year in 2006. On this record, I played Guitar, Saxophone, sang Lead Vocal and wrote all the Songs. If you are a Songwriter, we can polish up your approach.

As a Composer, I have done Sound Design for Film, Dance, Spoken Word and Multi-media Performance - most notably with renowned poet Anne Carson and former members of The Merce Cunningham Dance Co. I also formed and composed two symphonies for my 12-member saxophone orchestra in NYC. Currently, I am rehearsing new work with a Detroit-based multiinstrumental orchestra.

I hope to talk to you soon!
Benjamin

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is relaxed with a forte on Patience and Encouragement. Though I have specific expectations on what needs to be learned, I gear each lesson towards the student's wishes and their personal direction in Creativity. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can guide you wherever you are headed!

For Guitar (acoustic or electric), you will learn the fundamentals of Music Theory, Chord Structure, varied Strumming and Picking Techniques, and Scale Positions to travel from one part of the neck to the other. Any song you wish to learn, I can teach!

For Saxophone, you will learn proper Embouchure technique, Notation, Music Theory, and Scale Patterns for improvisation. Whether you are interested in a Classical, Blues, Funk or Jazz approach, I can help you find your own sound that is both personal and professional.

I teach 2nd year Piano and Drums/Percussion directing you into Intermediate level.

For those leaning toward the experimental genres, I am well-versed in the use of Electronics. Much can be accomplished with my lessons on Sound-Scape Improvisation either as 1 on 1 or Group Workshops.

*** Studio Equipment ***
At Home Studio: music stands, metronome, guitar amps, electric and acoustic guitars, guitar tablature, staff music paper, a scanner for weekly homework. I can also record and send MP3s of our lessons to review at home if you wish.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students will need their own instrument, a mutually chosen music book to learn from, a metronome, and hopefully easy access to a keyboard (very helpful!)

*** Specialties ***
I am fluent in Rock genres, Blues, Beginning Jazz, Beginning Classical technique, Prepared Guitar, Electronics/Sound Art.

Drummer with nearly 20 years experience playing in rock bands as well as in worship settings. Lessons begin with a focus on fundamentals of drumming (drum set) but can expand into what the student specifically wants to learn. We will also focus on the role of the drummer within a musical group and learn how to navigate those intricacies. Beginner and intermediate students preferred but all ages are welcome, its never too late to learn how to drum!

About Joel
I have been playing the drums for nearly 20 years, in which most of my experience is hands-on, playing in contemporary church worship teams and regional Christian rock bands with occasional teaching mixed in. Personally, my favorite style of music to play is rock/alternative but I also favor acoustic/folk styles, funky grooves, Latino rhythms, and the occasional metal, blues, or jazz beats.

No matter the musical style, playing with confidence, feeling the song, and having an awareness of other musicians can escalate you from a "good" drummer to a "great!" one; and this is what I teach my students. They will learn the fundamentals of stick position, rotary movements, basic drum hits and musical notation, as well as how to play on beat (with a "click"). These skills will enable the student to learn any style of music and increase their abi
lity to play the role of the drummer in virtually any band or musical group.

For example, the bands I have played in over the years have opened for multiple National acts like Red, Disciple, Project 86, and Decyfer Down and have played festivals and tours like Cornerstone Festival, Unity Festival, and Winter Jam, opening for Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, and Hawk Nelson. I truly believe that if you know your craft and have confidence in yourself, the sky is the limit for what you can do.

Currently, I play regularly at my local church and do worship nights and events in my area. I would be honored and pleased to work with you and help you become a great drummer!

Christian music worship artist teaching drums and how to properly manage rhythms and time measurements including being aware and sensitive to the feel and flow of the music

About Aaron
I am a musician of 20+ years that passionately enjoys teaching and helping students new to music in discovering and developing their skills and aptitude for music. I have performed live on many occasions in contemporary and religious settings. I come from a musical family: My father made an album in 1969 with Bob Seger and wrote nearly half of the music on the album. My brother was a part of a musical group that produced songs that made it to a Hollywood movie. I play multiple musical instruments and can help students learn some of their favorite songs based on their level of skill. I teach out of my home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. My goal is to help students develop an interest in music and an appreciation for the history and development of music. It is also my goal to help students develop their skill in music to a place where they
can become independent in their growth and exploration of music, music writing, and music performance.

You will also notice additional subject areas I am available to teach. These subjects are my passion and joy. Should you have questions, message me and I’ll be happy to answer them.

I'm an easy-going and passionate drum and percussion educator who truly enjoys working with students, not only to achieve their short term goals, but to share a life-long love of music and a desire to continue learning. I believe in fostering a student’s love of music. While I wholeheartedly devote lessons to developing a strong foundation of fundamentals, I also try demonstrate how they apply to a student’s passion. Simply, I like to teach how to learn and appreciate music - a skill that can be applied to all areas of education and life. If you want to learn something that I don't know, then we can learn it together. If you have other musical interests, like beat-making on your smartphone or playing other percussion instruments, we can incorporate those interests into the lessons. I believe that we can be complete musicians, not JUST drummers, so I like to involve music making into all we do in our time together.

About Christian
Hello prospective student! I am a drummer, percussionist and producer with nearly 25 years of playing and teaching experience in the New York and Los Angeles areas. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Management from William Paterson University in NJ with a playing concentration in classical and orchestral percussion, although ROCKING OUT on the drum set is my real love.

I studied drum set with Tommy Igoe, bandleader and best-selling author of Groove Essentials and Great Hands For a Lifetime. I currently play in local L.A. bands Little Galaxies and Glowbird, as well as around town wherever I am hired. I have performed live with well-known pop stars as well as provided incidental music for music videos.

In addition to that, I am an avid songwriter and producer and I really look forward to incorporating electronic music into our lesso
ns together.

In my lessons, I will start with a few custom lesson plans to gauge your skill level before moving on to method books. For beginning students, I like to focus on what makes music universally fun. We work on listening to music, feeling the pulse, and recognizing the rhythm. From there, I will introduce you to music notation and what it means when translated to sound. I also try to plant the seed of good technique by focusing on posture and stick handling.

As you become more advanced, I like to focus heavily on reading and developing playing techniques. At this point, I introduce a few method books for content to practice. We'll get started with Stick Control by George L. Stone to develop a foundation in dexterity. From there, we will use Tommy Igoe's Great Hands For A Lifetime to further develop healthy playing technique in a system based on rudimental drumming. Having been a student of Tommy's, I am uniquely capable of teaching this method to you.

On drum set, I typically start with Joel Rothman's Basic Rock Beats before moving on to John Lombardo's Rockin' Bass Drum. These two books cover many variations on the rock beat that are suitable for almost any playing style or occasion. As you develop into a proficient intermediate drummer, we will start to work through Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials books for learning different genres and styles, with the focus being on groove, sound and musicality. I love getting to this stage in our face-to-face lessons because I can record you playing along to the songs in my studio.

At this point, you'll be able to handle mostly any reading and playing situation, so we may move on to more advanced studies like independence, polyrhythmic beats, odd time signatures, and linear time playing. From there, you're only limited by your imagination and desire to keep going!

I look forward to starting this journey with you!

I started a bit behind the other kids in elementary school band. Chris was the drum instructor for the high school marching band at the time and my band teacher highly recommended him for private lessons.

Chris was able to get me caught up to the other drummers within a couple months. I was finally able to read sheet music fluently and began to be assigned more advanced parts to play in the school band. Each week Chris gave me homework assignments such as working on different rudiments or reading and playing different types of percussion sheet music (bells, xylophone, etc). My lessons with a Chris paid off over the years, as I was able to join the high school marching band as a middle schooler and went on to win accolades for my drumming in the school plays. Everything I learned and accomplished most definitely stemmed from my lessons with Chris!

I am a multi-instrumentalist with 8 years of collegiate education under my belt and coursework in music theory, jazz, composition, and audio engineering.

I perform professionally with groups on a weekly basis and play in a variety of styles.

Percussion was not my first instrument, so I had to work much harder to catch up to my peers. All of my formal education is strictly on auxiliary percussion, so I treat drum kit as an orchestra of percussion instruments, rather than a standard instrument. I am all about fostering growth through creativity and self-evaluation, and I seek to help students grow as musicians from a comprehensive perspective.

I walk students through more than just functional drumming; I enrich their knowledge and facility with studies in music theory, ear training, and composition to avoid training "drummers", but rather: musicians.

About Machado
I am a professional multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, audio engineer, and educator based out of Portland, OR.

I have 8 years of collegiate experience in performance, composition, theory, and pedagogy from Washington State University, University of Puget Sound, and Whitman College.

I play saxophone, drums, piano, and bass for groups such as Thankusomuch, Integer, Mordecai, Othership Connection, and SARCA.

I have produced, mixed, and mastered for projects by artists like Rob Araujo, Eyelovebrandon, @tlas, and 2uo.

My compositions have been featured in Washington State University's College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research journal in accordance with grant research on contemporary composition methods.

I am a signed artist at Marmoset Music Licensing in Portland, and have independently released six albums that were al
l mixed, mastered, and produced by me.

I love education, and really enjoy passing the skills I've gained along to enthusiastic students. Passion is a very important factor of musicianship to me; don't do it if you don't love it.

My teaching philosophy is to serve as a resource to students, or even, to act as a sounding board for them and their ideas. I evaluate the student's strengths and weaknesses over a few diagnostic lessons, then I determine what the student wants from lessons. The curriculum I build is based entirely on what I feel will help the student thrive most, but while also remaining wary of supporting their desires.

I feel like teaching musical concepts also makes me stronger at them, so I strive to keep myself honest while providing a clear pathway to steady progress with my students.

Nobody becomes a superstar overnight; I'm here to continue to push until my students can achieve new heights.

My drum lessons are rooted in a foundation of technique and then applied to all styles and genres of music. Music should have personality and exploring this with each individual allows for a rich learning experience and connection. I also find that learning the history and culture behind different styles of music helps one connect directly to what is being played. Listening is a huge part of my lessons, we will listen to lots and lots of music! Through my lessons, we will explore why rhythm is so important and the role that the drummer plays in different ensemble settings. The environment in which we study will be easy going and light hearted with lots of opportunities for student engagement and direction.
