Hello Songwriters,

I'm excited to be your songwriting coach. To me, songwriting is such a beautiful thing. I look forward to working through your mental blocks and distractions and helping you become comfortable with your songwriting skills. There are several principles to explore but mainly, how you think is most important. You are creative. You are good. You can be great!

I have been writing songs for 14 years and have studied with influential songwriters in the LA music business for the past 4 years, as well as with Philly writers for many years before that. I believe that writing is all about honesty and finding your own voice. Through these lessons I will help you to do both of these things along with building your knowledge of music theory and what makes a song click.

Based on our first lesson, I would highly recommend Becca for a teacher of young kids. She came to the class prepared, was very patient with my son, and left him wanting more and with something to work on. It was a very good experience.

Nothing is quite as rewarding as writing your own material, however, it's easy to feel stuck with an idea if you don't know how to fully develop it. I will help you take that one lick/chord change/vocal melody you've been working on and turn it into a fully fleshed out song. We'll take the time to learn the individual roles and functions of certain song sections, and pretty soon you'll be writing your best material with much more focus and confidence!

About Jonah

Learning to play the guitar is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever have. Whether this is your first time picking up the guitar or you've been playing for years, I'll make sure your lessons are structured and paced in a way that's specifically catered to your goals. I've worked with

I've been taking lessons with Jonah for 6 years now (4th-10th grade) and the experience has been amazing! With Jonah's help, I have learned so much about the guitar, both in technical aspects and in simply "jamming." Jonah is always very patient, kind, encouraging, and his passion for music very clearly shows in his teaching. Every lesson I take is very enjoyable, and I always come out of the lessons feeling like I have made good progress on whatever it was we were working on that week. Whether you wish to learn about complex music theory and lead guitar (like I am currently doing), or just want to learn how to play a few songs, Jonah is a perfect choice as a teacher. Additionally, Jonah is very communicative and flexible with timing. Whenever I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson for whatever reason, Jonah responds to my messages quickly and is almost always able to find another day that week for our lesson to take place on. 5 stars, fantastic teacher, I highly recommend Jonah!

Johah is very patient and flexible. He identifies and is willing to work on techniques, such as barre chords, in a way that finally helps me to stop the buzzing! I am looking forward to working with him.

My 15 year old son has been taking virtual guitar lessons with Jonah and has loved it. Jonah is a great teacher who really gets on my son’s level and connects. It’s a fun thing for him to do during this strange year.

I am first and foremost a singer/songwriter. I can help you discover all the possible song structures and song parts, sure, I have studied it deeply and earned a songwriting certificate from UCLA. But mostly I can help you dig deeper and find what you really want to talk about, what the story you want to talk about really is. By doing that I will then be able to show you different technical ways to tell that story, to build the melody that will help tell that story and also help you with chord progressions and music harmony.

"Working with Fawn on my songs the past 3 years has been a complete blessing. What used to be disorganized thoughts have been turned into lyrics and songs. I never thought I'd see the day when my songs would be ready to be recorded in a studio. Also, it's cool to be working with a coach who is current. (She just won for the Great America Song Contest last month). With all the awards she has won and career success she's had, she is still humble and really cares about her students progress and own careers. "Hannah's awesome! I contacted her mainly for songwriting feedback but also for guidance while applying and auditioning for BYU's commercial music program. She always went above and beyond in assisting me from songwriting, to voice lessons, to guidance with production and recording and navigating the local music scene. Hannah knows what she is talking about in both vocal and music techniques, as well as the business side of music. And even more important, she truly loves what she does and has a natural ability for teaching in a way that will help you grow immensely! If you are even slightly on the fence about taking lessons from her, don't be--you won't be disappointed!"

"I've been learning songwriting and music theory from David and it couldn't be any better. He's very professional and personable, and he makes sure to work with you, not above you. He shows a genuine enthusiasm for his students' musical interests and formulates instruction around them. David encourages questions, which creates a comfortable and effective teacher-student interaction. Between my weekly lessons, I find myself impatiently counting down the days until my next scheduled lesson. While the genre of songwriting that I've been working on with David's guidance has been contemporary Christian, I'm sure that he would be an effective teacher in any genre, whether the student were writing songs or playing them."
