Craig tailors lessons to the needs and goals of the individual student whether they are a beginner or an advanced student. Being able to work with the students to reach their full potential by giving them a strong vocabulary and command on the instrument are areas he is able to shine on them, but more importantly make it fun while they are learning the instrument.

The student will be instructed on the basics of proper playing techniques, music theory, and musicianship. They will learn to read music and also play by ear which will make them a well rounded player

As an educator, I strive to provide my students with the tools that they will need to explore the direction that they want to take with their instrument. This can include from enjoying drumming as a hobby, performing in small jazz ensembles, recording electronic and acoustic drums in major recording studios, to performing with a full orchestra! There is literally no limit to what you can do.

My focus is to get hobbyists to enjoy performing drums in the comfort of their own home or with friends, and to have my professionally-minded students go out into the world of performing and recording music. All of these environments are where the ultimate joy of playing an instrument can be expressed.

As a gigging and studio musicians, I understand what it takes to get to the stage or studio, apply oneself in that environment, and come away with a satisfying experience that you can then build upon for the rest of your life.

I first started playing drums on pots and pans when I was a wee lad. My parents thankfully fostered my musical inhibitions and purchased an electronic pad at the of 9. I have been playing ever since, mainly self-taught, with a variety of bands performing professionally across the Texas music scene. In addition to drum kit, I am a classically trained trombone player who studied under professor Charles Hurt at Texas State. I aim to bring my performance experience and classical music education to my students, in a way that’s easy to digest and most of all, fun!

I can teach a variety of styles including rock, pop, funk, jazz, blues and metal. The progression is focused on fundamentals, technique and theory to ensure that you can apply these concepts to whatever style of music you'd like to play throughout your music journey. I also do volunteer work teaching piano and drum kit lessons with Kids in a New Groove here in Austin.

Hi, my name is Liam, and I am excited to help you or your child learn how to play the drums.

My 20+ years of performing across the country taught me how to wow audiences from 10 to 10,000. But teaching has taught me compassion, and how to break big, complicated things down into bite size pieces.

I’m most interested in students learning to play music they love, and learning the techniques and the rudiments to help them get there along the way.

Playing music is fun, and learning it should be, too.
