Private Drum Teacher

Beginning students will begin studying from the book "Progressive Drum Grooves" by Craig Lauritsen which he/she will be required to have each lesson.

Although instructor will have drumsticks, brushes etc. students should carry them along for every lesson.

A drum set or practice pad will be a very crucial part in seeing growth from our lessons.

Standard sized 5 piece Mapex Drum Set with cymbals.

(2nd Kit) "ideal for young children"
Fusion sized Mapex drum set with cymbals. 18" bass drum

The lesson room also has a PA system for CD/MP3 player capabilities.

I can provide practice pad if needed. If student is learning the drum set they will need to supply for in-home lessons.

I've been studying with Karl for over two years now. I'd taken lessons from two other teachers before, and I learned more in one lesson with Karl, than in three lessons from either of them. He guides students in developing their own styles, and at the same time, teaches them how to play with proper technique. Really push your polyrhythms and add asymmetrical meters to your repertoire to expand your grasp of complex rhythms. Also learn to use dynamics, cymbal work, and fills to effectively communicate and lead a band without words.

"My son was very impressed, asked why we had been taking drum lessons from his local instructor for so long. He was reticent before the lesson saying that he wasn't sure that our internet connection would be good enough, saying that he wasn't sure we could really do a lesson online instead of face to face. He came out of his room after the lesson and said he loved it, and that it worked really well, that our connection was just fine, and that he could hear everything on both sides. I was just picking up the drums for a high school band I was in at the time, and he was more than willing to help me learn whatever dumb song me or my band had decided sounded cool at the time. I started learning drums from Colin starting June 2013. I am a beginner and Colin was my first drum teacher.

I really liked the way Colin provided step by step guidance. He has great patience when it comes to work with beginner like me. I am really glad I learnt under his guidance. He was very encouraging which is really helpful especially at the beginning.
