Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
The trombone is a colorful and exciting instrument played in many styles of music throughout the world, from jazz and classical to funk and soul to reggae, afro-beat, and Latin American music. In addition to covering the basic technical requirements of the instrument, I'm particularly interested in the many genres in which the trombone can be found, and I like to focus on the styles of music that most interest and challenge my students. I began playing soprano trombone over ten years ago, and I have taught tenor trombone privately and in public school programs for several years. I encourage the use of long tones, air support, and brass calisthenics to improve tone, increase range and endurance, and work towards greater flexibility.
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing and recording on slide trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, and french horn. I write and arrange music for my own groups and regularly write and record horn arrangements for folk, pop, and reggae groups. I have attended Berklee College of Music and Ithaca College, and I have a Master's degree in jazz trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
I have over nine years of experience working with students ages 7 to adult. I have worked both from my home studio and though several public and community music school program
s including the Hudson Arts Alliance in Hudson, MA, the Kittredge Elementary School in North Andover, MA, and the Performing Arts Center of Metro West in Framingham, MA. I have studied jazz performance with trumpet greats John McNeil and Walter White, improvisation with jazz gurus David Schumacher and Jerry Bergonzi, and George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization with master composer and theorist Ben Schwendener.
As an educator, my aim is to inspire in my students an enthusiasm for the artistic performance of music of any style. I strive to convey my own excitement for the art to young trumpeters and improvisers, and I have worked to encourage self-motivation and a longstanding interest in musical self-expression in elementary through high school students and adults. I have experience performing many styles of music from jazz and experimental improvised music to funk, reggae, and afro-beat, and I use my knowledge of divergent genres to encourage creative experimentation and convey the expressive artistic elements shared by all music. As an improviser I am particularly interested in teaching the theory and philosophy of spontaneous composition and musical communication.

What I like while I'm teaching trombone is also to introduce some harmony aspects that helps to understand the music that we perform and it helps to make a bigger progress.
I adjust every program according to the student. I like to do arrangements from the pieces students want to play and I make a specific method for each student.
I'm a performer in jazz music. Coming from a musicians family I started to play the trombone at the age of 9. I have my bachelor in classical trombone in ESMuC (Spain). Just finished my second bachelor in Jazz trombone at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam with Ilja Reijngoud and Bart Van Lier.

Alba is helping my daughter perfect her scales and overall playing of the trombone. Her lessons are packed with some review and new information. She has definitely shown progress within such a short time of being tutored by her.

"Mr. Gallo is an outstanding teacher for brass instruments. I have played trombone for over 30 years, and he is teaching me how to improve my playing givin
g me a way to fight against my old little mistakes and addictions. I strongly recommend him for any brass instrument player."
"When I first met Lucas, I had been referred to him by my first instructor who had taken a job in Texas. I was 75 years old and, after not playing the trom
bone for 50+ years, had stated playing the trombone again two years after retiring. Lucas was in his final two years of his PhD training at OSU. Lucas is a very accomplished trombonist whom I heard at several recitals. However, he was always patient and kind with me but also expected me to appreciate the importance of tone, slide position, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, etc. Lucas helped me feel comfortable playing in a local community band but also willing to try more challenging pieces of music. In the spring of last year, OSU would not let Lucas teach any non-OSU student, so I had to terminate my time with him. A sad time for me."
"Jeff really seemed to get a lot out of the lesson."
"Billy is a great teacher, he knows his stuff and teaches really well. He helped me get through an audition for my school Jazz band and I'm learning so mu
