That along with a study of the fundamentals of trombone technique will get us started. Then we'll add the kind of songs that you like to play, and other great trombone literature.

My mission is to provide a positive musical experience for all students. For some this includes rigorous preparation for an audition of some kind, for others it may be an introduction to music fundamentals to foster better listening skills and greater artistic appreciation. All students will be challenged to improve their listening, timing, and technique. All students will learn to play songs that they love.
Students get a minimum of one lesson per week. I am not able to schedule lessons every other week.
Recommendations for best results: 1. Make a three-month commitment to weekly lessons. 2. Practice at least three times a week, for a minimum of 15 minutes each time. This formula virtually guarantees results. Bring your instrument, music books, and a binder with sheet protectors ☺
*Scheduling policies: No Cancellations. If the student is unable to attend a lesson as scheduled I will use the time to email a video lesson to the student. Other alternatives: online lesson, reschedule, add time to next lesson (based on availability). Students may put lessons on hold up to once per quarter with at least one week notice.
To continue weekly lessons, students must maintain at least 90% attendance or the time slot may be forfeited.
Jordan was born and raised in the El Centro, California where he began playing the alto sax in the elementary band program. At the age of 12, he began his study of guitar and drums, performing in several rock and ska bands around his home town and San Diego. At age 14, is where he found his love for brass instruments when he took up the trombone. While in high school he became a soloist with the Imperial Valley College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of former Basie trumpeter Jimmy Cannon. That lead Jordan to accept the Constance Weldon Music Scholarship to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.
While performing in South Florida Jordan appeared with major acts including 10,000 Maniacs, and appeared on the Spanish television show "Calle Ocho." He also gained invaluable experience teaching in Miami public schools. His first teaching assignment was at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School where he directed 3 beginning bands, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and their highly decorated Jazz Band. Later Jordan moved into the elementary setting, teaching vocal and instrumental music for grades K-5 at Cypress Elementary.
In 2007, Jordan returned to California to pursue a music career in San Diego. He can be seen performing all over San Diego, Orange, and LA Counties in styles ranging from rock, jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, Latin, and more. He performs primarily on trombone, piano, and guitar, but is known to pick up percussion, harmonica, and other wind instruments as well. In 2011, Tori Roze & The Hot Mess were nominated for a San Diego Music Award in the category of "Best Blues Artist" after the release of their first album "From The Hip." They released their second album "Turbulence" last December, and are heard regularly on local San Diego radio. This album has also been nominated for Best Pop album for the 2013 San Diego Music Awards. In 2013, Jordan completed his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University.
On stage, Jordan is a talented and versatile performer. He is known for his trombone sound and improvisational ability, as well as his positive relationship with his fellow musicians. In lessons, Jordan is energetic and creative.

I was a high school music teacher & band director in the Philadelphia area for 7 years, and I now live in Miami, FL where I am working on a doctoral degree in conducting. Online lessons are a wonderful option! I am flexible with scheduling and allow changes up to 24-hours before a scheduled lesson. My home studio has chairs, music stand, and areas for parents to sit in on lessons. Garage band is available for recording. Students need an instrument and books.
Tina has provided our daughter 11 year old daughter with outstanding lessons as a beginning trumpet player this past summer! Not only was our daughter able to skip beginning band and be placed into the more advance concert band with the 1st trumpets, she received an invite from her well known director of bands to participate in the school’s Big Band. Our daughter is quickly improving on her playing skills.

Students begin with the Rubank method. A strong emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of scales, ear training, sight reading, and music theory. Along with this we have fun playing the music student enjoys.

William Combs provides music teaching, performing and arranging services to the community of Lubbock, TX. In 2019, he completed doctorate work at the University of Colorado - Boulder. He completed his bachelor’s degree in music education and performance at Texas Tech University, and his Master’s in trombone performance, and his Performer’s Certificate, at the University of Denver. His extensive resume a wide variety of concerts, clinics, master-classes, performances, and recording sessions; most notably: the TTU Vernacular Music Center, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, Colorado Wind Ensemble, Denver Municipal Band, Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Combs has taught all ages of students on trombone, euphonium, tuba, and chamber ensembles for 6 years. He was the brass section leader for the world premiere o
f the full-length theatrical dance show Dancing at the Crossroads and his arrangements have been played by chamber groups throughout northern Colorado.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons are geared towards a set of goals that are created between the student's wants and my expectations for them to be successful at what the student wants to achieve. For each student, I use a different set of pedagogical tools designed to get them to the goals they want. The main goal I have for all my students is that their fundamentals on their instrument will be at the level that they can complete their goals with ease. Over their time with me, they will have the skills to coach themselves when they practice and tackle any music they come across.

Bill is a stand-up guy. My 11-yr-old beginner daughter is happy with her lessons so far and he interacts with me in a friendly and polite manner. He is respectful of our time and does what he says he's going to do. Can't ask for much more. We are looking forward to a summer of trombone lessons with him.
I am all about teaching the whole musician, meaning that you will not be learning just trombone but all the skills necessary to be the best musician you can be! This includes ear training, music theory, sight-singing and more.

Michael graduated from the prestigious Music Education Program and Psychology Program at Ithaca College in 2012. Ithaca gave him the incredible opportunity to hone in on his musicianship and compositional skills. He was also able to discover a new medium of composition, film composition. Michael immediately fell in love with the art of writing music for film and was able to make his first musical debut on a film directed by Mike Blaney. In his time at Ithaca College, he composed scores for multiple films and continues to maintain an active composition career. Hi, I am Matt. I am a band director in the Fort Smith, AR area. I am in my 7th year teaching band and love every minute of it. I have recently decided to return to teaching private lessons, and would love to help you with your auditions, festival music, AP music theory exams, or just learn some skills on becoming a better musician. June 2012 - June 2015 I was the head band director of Waldron High School in Waldron, AR. We won several awards through our marching and concert band program. I also ran after school lessons in which many students made our region honor band.
June 2015 - Present I am currently the head director at Trinity Junior High in Fort Smith. I run a 7-9 band program that includes both marching and concert band seasons. Our student involvement is quite high as our band program serves about 50% of our total student population (about 90 kids served daily on all wind instruments). My band here has received many superior ratings, and many students make our region honor group, and go on to excel in high school band programs in our area.
My passion is teaching the trombone. I have started beginners, taught middle, high school, and university students. As a member of a professional orchestra for many years, I have experience performing many different styles of music and love to share my enthusiasm for the trombone with others. I am a professional trombonist and pianist and have three degrees from the University of Michigan, including a D.M.A. in Trombone Performance. I have taught piano since I was 16 and have accompanied singers and instrumentalists in concerts. For many years, I was a trombonist in the Sarasota Orchestra and previously was Assistant Professor of Trombone at Miami University.
I have started many students on trombone and tuba, as well as piano. Students will find me to be encouraging, yet demanding. I cater to different learning styles and strive to learn how each student learns best.
