Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.

The trombone is a colorful and exciting instrument played in many styles of music throughout the world, from jazz and classical to funk and soul to reggae, afro-beat, and Latin American music. In addition to covering the basic technical requirements of the instrument, I'm particularly interested in the many genres in which the trombone can be found, and I like to focus on the styles of music that most interest and challenge my students. I began playing soprano trombone over ten years ago, and I have taught tenor trombone privately and in public school programs for several years. I encourage the use of long tones, air support, and brass calisthenics to improve tone, increase range and endurance, and work towards greater flexibility.
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing and recording on slide trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, and french horn. I write and arrange music for my own groups and regularly write and record horn arrangements for folk, pop, and reggae groups. I have attended Berklee College of Music and Ithaca College, and I have a Master's degree in jazz trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

Karl then completed a Master's at New York University where he was an adjunct faculty instructor.
He has taught individual and group lessons to students of many ages on trombone, trumpet, piano, and bass guitar. Karl’s teaching style is grounded in fundamentals but also tailored to each student. He believes that music can enrich one’s life by improving discipline and the ability to multitask. Most importantly, it's fun!

Hi there! I am a Grammy-nominated, 23-year-old trombonist and singer from New Orleans, LA. I graduated from The Juilliard School with my Bachelor's in Jazz Studies in May 2018, and I am returning to Juilliard to pursue my Master's. You can catch me working a LOT in the NY area as both a sideman and a leader of my own quintet.
I also play euphonium, tuba and some piano. I've performed/recorded with Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Mac Miller, John Legend, Solange, Jon Batiste, and more.
