Trombone Lessons in Indian Head. Amazing Teachers.

Hello! I’m Michael, and I play trombone for the United States Army Band. My lessons focus on fundamentals of playing that last a lifetime!

I am an experienced teacher, having been a low brass teacher for over a decade. Over 90% of my students that study privately through their senior year of high school receive some form of college scholarship for musical ability, as well as excellent standardized test scores. Additionally, my students have received placement in state rankings for organizations such as NYSSMA, TMEA, ASBOA, as well as Interlochen and Tanglewood summer institutes.
My lessons are customized to each students needs and goals, with the primary goal being a cultivation of great fundamentals.
As a performer, my experience as a freelancer in NYC and performing with word class ensembles like the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway shows, and chamber ensembles makes me an excellent choice.

I enjoy teaching beginning technique including making a sound, learning slide positions, reading bass clef notation, and learning to play in tune with a tuner.

I have studied with some of the best trombone teachers in America. I studied extensively with Jay Friedman and members of the Chicago Symphony during my five years at Roosevelt University. I specialize in helping students develop efficient embouchures, expand their range, and cultivate a sense of artistic personality. I have placed many students in All-State ensembles, and helped many students earn top seating placements in their ensembles, as well as at Solo and Ensemble competitions.

I am a professional full time Trombonist. At the same time, teaching has always been a big part of who I am - I love teaching. My music career has taken me around the world and back but more than that it has given me a wonderful tool of self expression, and for that I am forever grateful. My band performs regularly in Opera houses as well as coffee houses... Other than the Trombone I do play the Trumpet as well, and I have over 8 years of Piano under my belt.

I have been playing drums since the early age of 9. While a majority of my training has been self taught, I have also taken lessons with top educators in Texas. I've had the honor to perform with a variety of talented musicians professionally across the Texas music scene.

In addition to drum kit, I am a classically trained trombone player who studied under professor Charles Hurt at Texas State. I aim to bring my performance experience and classical music education to my students, in a way that’s easy to digest and most of all, fun!

I can teach a variety of styles including rock, pop, funk, jazz, blues and metal. The progression is focused on fundamentals, technique and theory to ensure that you can apply these concepts to whatever style of music you'd like to play throughout your music journey.

I do volunteer work teaching drum kit, trombone and piano lessons with Kids in a New Groove here in Austin.

What makes learning with me unique is that I try to make learning as fun as possible! I at first struggled to learn music and starting out wasn't easy for me. Eventually, through lots of practice, trombone became a fun thing for me and an outlet for stress. I'd love to help other budding trombone players find their passion for music. I know how hard it is to learn an instrument for the first time, but I also know how rewarding and fun it can be when things start to become easier! I am graduating from the Eastman School of Music which is a top music school in the country located in Rochester, New York. Through my training at Eastman, I have worked with exceptional conductors, professors and wonderful musicians. I know what it takes to get from the first days on the instrument, to having a blast playing with friends.
