At 40, I decided to pick up the tuba that I’d kept since playing in college. I wanted to get off to a solid start. I found in Bryan a solid teacher with a wealth of all sorts of musical knowledge. I implemented the lessons into practice and felt myself grow stronger in some areas than I had ever experienced in my first 10 years of practice and learning. I was also able to see a marked improvement in my bass guitar skills by applying many of the same concepts to the playing of that instrument. These lessons have been a great investment for my musicianship.

Bryan has very unique lesson plans and can channel his musical thoughts very clearly. He was very understanding and reflective of my needs. He then presented me with a series of mental models and exercises which i am certain will make me not just a better pianist but a better musician and also help me appreciate music better.

I would highly highly recommend Bryan and i will certainly continue the musicial journey with him.

Trombone:
A musical instrument in the brass family where sound is produced when the player's vibrating lips (embouchure) cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones have a telescoping slide mechanism that varies the length of the instrument to change the pitch. I will start with the basics. Proper breathing, reading, notes, rhythms, songs, theory, and improvisation.

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

I am an experienced teacher, having been a low brass teacher for over a decade. Over 90% of my students that study privately through their senior year of high school receive some form of college scholarship for musical ability, as well as excellent standardized test scores. Additionally, my students have received placement in state rankings for organizations such as NYSSMA, TMEA, ASBOA, as well as Interlochen and Tanglewood summer institutes.
My lessons are customized to each students needs and goals, with the primary goal being a cultivation of great fundamentals.
As a performer, my experience as a freelancer in NYC and performing with word class ensembles like the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway shows, and chamber ensembles makes me an excellent choice.

I center all of my teaching on music that my students are personally interested in. This means adjusting my teaching style and goals for each individual student. This is a key part in giving each student the high quality instruction they deserve from their music teacher.

Combining student interest with strong fundamentals in technique and theory, helps foster strong musicianship and self-reliance in my students. This set of skills sets students up for success, whatever their goals as musicians are. I have experience teaching students of all age and experience levels, and am always excited to teach new students!

About Patrick

Hi potential new student! My name is Patrick Daly and I teach instrumental music in Buffalo NY, and online via TakeLessons. I have received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree from SUNY Fredonia in Music Education, and music truly is my life! I love listening and performing music of all genres

Patrick was my student tutor during a semester at SUNY Fredonia when I was a member of the New Horizons Band. This is a group of senior citizens who love to create music on instruments. I play the euphonium and wanted to have some one-on-one instruction to increase my proficiency. Patrick was a perfect instructor for me. He was an excellent educator having lots of patience and great suggestions on how I could improve. In one semester - I feel that I made some headway in technique. I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone wishing some private instruction. He is full of music knowledge, is able to communicate well, and has a quick smile and wit !!!! Highly recommend!!!

I have been teaching trombone for 22 years. I have received about 14 years in trombone and specialize in it. I have produced 3 CDs with my brass group, Cornerstone Brass. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

"My 7/8 year old REALLY wanted to try trombone, a difficult instrument for anyone but especially a young kid. Pasquale agreed to take him on without judgment or preconceptions. Ultimately it was a little too difficult but he completely understood that a kid should still be allowed to experiment. His teaching style was the perfect balance of stern and jovial and my typical silly kid respected him. When the time came to end lessons, my kid is not dissuaded and is looking forward to trying new instruments. Pasquale was very understanding and let me and my kid know that if the passion for trombone returns he is still his teacher. Thanks Pasquale!"

"Rachel is a fantastic teacher and tutor. Her expansive knowledge of music theory and ear training contributes to her vast musical ability. Not only is she a great performer, but she is able to break down the music and explain it in a variety of ways in order to effectively teach students at any level. Most importantly, Rachel is an advocate for students expressing their own musical voice. She will not tell a student exactly how to play a given piece, but rather she will teach them the necessary tools for the student to play well, and allow them to explore their own musical interpretation from there.

Outside of music, Rachel is a genuine and kind-hearted person. She is understanding and empathetic, and this carries over into her teaching as well. That being said, Rachel holds herself and her students to high standards. Students will hear improvement in their tone, technique, and musicality as they work with Rachel. I give her my highest recommendation for all subjects."
