I've been a full time professional musician for 18+ years and have toured all over the world performing with music icons like Chacka Khan, Beyonce, and many more. I have a lot of experience with many different styles of music and I love sharing this gift with anyone who's interested. My teaching philosophy is simple: Get students playing music! It's much easier to understand the nuts and bolts of music when put into the context of the music you like. *** Lesson Details *** I like to design a lesson plan for each individual student. The first lesson will begin with a basic assessment of skill level. We will discuss goals for the lessons then get down to work! Students will learn: 1 Technique. the proper physicality to increase dexterity and avoid injury. 2 Music theory and comprehension. Usually through learning songs and analyzing different concepts they incorporate 3 Ear-training/pitch recognition. Strengthening the ability to "pick up" new material more quickly and translate ones Ideas to the instrument. 4 Music appreciation/Musicality. Listening to new and different types of music focusing on the different elements that make up a great performer/performance. *** Studio Equipment *** Music Studio: piano, stereo system, no drum there! room to sit for parents A1: drum kit, whole performance set up with recording studio, room for parents to sit in on lesson *** Travel Equipment *** amplifiers, cd/mp3 player *** Specialties *** ear training, most musical styles (pop/rock, r&b, reggae, jazz , world)

Let's write hit records together! I'm currently on my second album and have written hundreds of songs for both myself and for others! I have toured internationally and know the ins and outs of the industry. Whether you want to write for yourself or for others - knowing how to find your unique voice is key. I also teach about the business of songwriting too - just one hit and you are set for life! Lessons would include finding out your goals and what you want to achieve, talking about what works for what type of songs, but ultimately I want to help you write a song that will change your life.

My passion for music began when I was seven years old. It all started for me with composition and improvisation. I love to create my own original music and I have since the very beginning of my musical journey. To this day, composition and improvisation are some of my favorite things to do and favorite things to teach. My love of creating original music inspired me to write an educational book on the topic and develop my own unique method for approaching these topics. My teaching philosophy includes an integrated method of intellectual and creative development. It is truly unfortunate that so often music theory is presented as a mere collection of naming systems and rules. To me, understanding music with the mind is a key ingredient to becoming an effective and inspired artist. In music lessons, I teach not just how to talk about music but the fascinating complexity of how music operates - the fundamental principles that illuminate the translation of sound into thoughts and emotional expression. But musical creativity can't be a matter of only intellectualization either! Through a process of working on projects, receiving feedback, and learning key strategies for creating more of what you want in your music, we will dive head first into the art of creating original music. Depending on your goals, I can also incorporate instruction on ear training, arranging, orchestration, and music production (technology). And finally, together we will explore the deep introspective questions of what you want to express in your music and the vast constellation of possibilities to choose from. I offer instruction in a variety of styles ranging from classical to jazz to rock to electronic. While providing a broad, synergistic foundation in musical skills and understanding, I also encourage students to pursue their unique interests and inspirations. On the first lesson with a new student, I'll always go over the options for potential areas of study and work with the student to develop an appropriate course of study customized to their needs and interests. Cancellation Policy: Please cancel lessons with as much advance notice as possible. Lessons that are cancelled with less than 3 hours notice will be considered "missed lessons," and will be charged full price. If you do not arrive to a lesson on time and do not contact me, I will wait at least 15 minutes.
