I look forward to sharing this feeling with my students, because it really is a lot of fun. Since I've played my whole life, I've spanned a lot of genres. I began learning drums through Rock Band, yes.. I said a video game. After a month or two I was playing songs on hard or expert difficulty and I soon began applying the rhythms and rudiments I was learning in Rock Band to a real drum set. I began playing drums every day. I played in a few different bands in my teen years, recorded in studios and currently I accompany musicians around San Diego regularly.

I want to know what you want to learn! Of course, I will go over the fundamentals to make sure you have the right tools to play what you want. However, my main focus is to help you foster a love for your instrument, and the best way to do that is to make sure you’re learning things you want to learn!

Taking drum lessons online is a great option at this time. I have taught drum lessons for 47 years and have been a band instructor in the public schools. I emphasize good technique, sight-reading skills, improvisation and applying these skills to repertoire in preferred styles. I primarily teach beginning snare drum and bass drum students.
